Q: Is It OK To Wear Jeans To A Holiday Party?

By: Carrie Yotter

A: ABSOLUTELY. Here are 5 reasons why that’s true.

One of the few perks that were bequeathed us over the past four years is – a growing acceptance of all things casual.
True because I may be sitting in the office wearing a pair of sweatpants right now without anyone batting an eye (that I can see).
I know not everyone shares in this ideology, especially when in the context of festive yet thoughtful holiday outfitting. Holiday celebrations typically suggest tradition, a respect unlike that shown in the everyday. Spending extra time to “look your best” is all part of the package. And without DISrespect, that can absolutely remain your plan.
But.
What if I told you that there were actually jeans that check off all of those boxes?
Denim that is well-constructed, flattering and festive? Read on for our five holiday party-worthy jean styles.

(WALES WITH DELIGHT)

You say you want wide-leg comfort, with the spirit of red and eindeer thrown in? The Clifton Cord is just that. Its high-rise relaxed fit lends to easy upstyling – think sheer blouse (full-on pattern or more subdued) and a statement necklace, or slightly elevated ‘fitting with a great tee and blazer (or turtle and cardigan)... and kitten heels to kick things up a notch?

Moxie Flocked Tennessee Novelty

ALL ABOARD THE PARTY TRAIN

I will not liken these to a very iconic holiday trim and minty treat, however tempting. However, these pants are JUST as fun, and will accommodate you and your to-and-from’ing a lot more easily. Actually, if I need to head out to a party directly from work or elsewhere, this take on the OG Moxie Barrel are perfect thanks to their low-rise versatility. I love keeping things simple here – a basic top and subdued Western-esque boots. Feel free to pile on the jewels for maximum festive feels.

…WATCHING THEIR FLOCKS BY NIGHT

And, my personal favorite – the Moxie Barrel Pull-On, but FLOCKED! I love the idea of really playing up the texture with – you, guessed it – more texture, especially to elevate your entrance into a cozier-type soiree. Though s’mores need not apply. A functional yet fun scarf spun atop a well-cut tonal cardigan, paired back with loafers for a classic, retro-ish feel. Don’t forget socks!

TAKE ME TO ANOTHER PLACE…

The thing about the Tennessee Novelty Jean… it can truly go ANYwhere you want to. Meaning, your house to the store to the dog park to the store because you need to bring a bottle of wine to the party and THEN to the party itself. Phew. What makes this pair so amazing is its subtle but very purposeful all-over rhinestone embellishment and distressed detailing. And here… I mean, you can’t really go wrong in your direction. You can follow the sheer/lace pairing trend, or strike out with a smart cable sweater and festive sneakers… the night belongs to you.
