I’ve spoken to many runners about what it is that propels them through each step. Though their answers generally vary – to challenge the limits of their bodies, to take in a change of scenery – there is a common thread that sits among nearly everyone: to connect. Whether that means camaraderie with fellow runners, feeling and knowing the ground beneath their feet, immersing themselves within a unique culture or community or ecosystem, or simply communicating with themselves, running(or walking!) provides a unique opportunity to go deeper and find union, and ultimately – joy.
As we traverse the land – for any reason – we do so with the assurance that we’ll find this connection AND do so effectively and safely. And that’s where On comes in. Our recent collaboration, which resulted in two highly functional (and colorful) shoe styles, was born of the idea that hitting the pavement should serve to help you discover your own surroundings, or aspire to new ones.
In celebration of both the Cloudmonster (a pair so good, we just couldn’t keep them in stock online — but visit us in-store to find your pair!) and Cloudnova Form 2, we’ve pulled together a list of some of the trails in our own backyards – and maybe yours – to consider when planning your next trek.
-Zurich is On’s hometown — where On was founded, operates its global HQ, and where the FP Movement x On collaboration campaign was photographed and brought to life.
-Philadelphia is FP Movement’s hometown, where the brand was founded in 1984, and where the campaign — and sneaker design! — was concepted.
-New York and Los Angeles are two iconic cities close to the hearts of both brands and their respective communities; these are also cities at the center of FP Movement’s community programming.

(Re)Discover The Joy Of Running With These 4 City Trail Guides

In your own backyard, or across the globe – with On.
ZURICH
Selected by the On global marketing team, these two run paths offer the best way to experience the city on foot — by the water. The Lettenviadukt-Röntgenstrasse-Seidengasse route will take you through the heart of the city — in the bustling streets, over a bridge, and along the waterfront — while the Cassiopeiasteg-Forellenweg path offers a straight shot down the lake waterfront. Both paths are rated ‘easy’ by locals, making them a great, accessible way to get in some miles.
LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles: known as the City of Angels to all and home to the first standalone FP Movement store to many. As our second home, Los Angeles sees a huge percentage of our community programming. The Venice loop is a favorite of our monthly Run Club, taking you through nearly the entire neighborhood with great views all the way through. For a shorter run and a more controlled environment, the LA State Historic Park route is a forever favorite for all levels, clocking in at just over three miles.
“Your pace, your pavement.”
NEW YORK
New York is another city at the center of the FP Movement — it’s where we hold influencer and community events, where we cheer on Marathon runners each year, and where our new flagship store (and biggest location ever!) opened as of this spring. The Central Park Loop is a must for local runners and visitors alike, with historic, green views for six miles. If you’re looking for a true, flat straight shot, the West Side Highway path along the Hudson River is undefeated — and since it runs from West 72nd Street down to the southern tip of Manhattan, you can extend your run beyond the 3.6 mile path below.
PHILADELPHIA
When asking around the FP Movement HQ, the below trails were unanimous favorites for a Philadelphia run — the city where FP Movement was founded in 2015, and operates from today. For an easy, under 2-mile run, the FDR Loop path takes you through the historic park. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, the 8.2 mile Schuylkill Loop offers a scenic run of moderate difficulty.
