It’s all here in our new FP Suit Shop.
I think I was in 11th grade when I purchased my first blazer. Meandering the aisles of a local thrift shop, I was a very impressionable junior in the company of a very cool senior who could do no wrong when it came to outfitting. Tammy often wore suit jackets with her hole-y jeans and tees (most likely from whatever band had just toured our hometown in the past year or so), and the look was always perfect. Easy, unpretentious, but with purpose.
Though my first houndstooth jacket was probably 3 or 4 times bigger than my true size, I treasured it and wore it to school at least 2 or 3 days a week.
And it’s a formula that I often weave into my wardrobe to this day, many years later.
Suit dressing offers up so many fun outfitting options – whether you’re in it to win it in a head-to-toe look, or mixing/matching blazers or bottoms with other key closet essentials and bold accessories.
I used to think that suits were an acquired taste, but then I realized… There’s something about a suit that can cater to just about everyone’s taste. Plus, some of my greatest heroes – Patti Smith, Diane Keaton, Pamela Adlon, – wear blazers/suiting with that just-right-amount of cool, so – why wouldn’t I want to emulate that?
If you’re new to suiting, or are looking for some new ways to wear these classic pieces, watch the Changing Room vid below and, as always, have fun getting dressed! And let your clothes have some fun, too. I mean, that’s what it’s all about.
