As the days grow shorter, we look forward with hope to the start of a new season on December 21st, after which the daylight will slowly return. The birth of the Sun on the Winter Solstice has been celebrated for eons by different cultures, including the Norse, who called it Yule, and Roman pagans, who dubbed it Saturnalia. Saturn rules Capricorn, the sign the Sun enters as Winter begins. The Festival of Lights (Hanukkah) and the birth of the Son (Christmas) eventually emerged as December holy days and now overshadow the ancient festivals. But to this day, many holiday rituals have their roots in the Solstice. Even if the planets are up to their old tricks (looking at you, Mercury retrograde), let’s give thanks when the light returns after the longest night of the year. Wishing you a happy, healthy month full of peace and love!

Sagittarius: Fire, mutable.

SAGITTARIUS

November 22–December 21

Mercury skips into your worth zone on the 1st, which should get you thinking in terms of brass tacks. Part of your attention will be directed toward your finances, possessions, resources and values, and you might find yourself talking more about what you have and what you need. But as Venus clashes with Pluto on the 3rd, a problem involving money, values, belongings or self-esteem could set off tremors in your squad. Should you compromise or draw a line in the sand? Your call! Once Venus slips into the last house of your chart on the 4th, you’ll need more time to yourself and perhaps more private time with someone close to you. Take a step back from the world and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet when you’re craving it.
A Venus-Saturn mashup on December 5th provides a grounding influence. Whether you need support, commitment or closure, it’s within your grasp. If you have to take care of a loved one, know that you possess the strength and patience for it. After Neptune edges forward on December 6th, a family or domestic issue can clear up. If you’ve been too emotionally embroiled in your living situation, stop and assess what will make you feel more secure. Let go of memories and emotions that have kept you tied to the past. Venus’s standoff with Jupiter on the 9th suggests you have plenty of work to do, but you’d love to ignore your to-do list and indulge in a pleasant escape. Try to maintain a positive attitude about doing what needs to be done and see if you can juggle duties and downtime to your satisfaction. You might feel inspired to do something compassionate that serves a higher purpose than personal pleasure. The new moon in Sagittarius on December 12th symbolizes your personal New Year and invites you to reinvent yourself. Where do you envision yourself a year from now? Set goals and intentions, and create a game plan, complete with doable steps.

While go-getter Mars tours your sign until January 4th, you’re capable of taking action to make your dreams a reality. Mercury’s reversal on December 13th calls your financial judgment into question, so postpone negotiations and splurges and review your budget. The sun’s presence in Sagittarius is firing you up to do you, but his run-in with Neptune on the 16th can be a buzzkill. Take your foot off the gas and drift. Part of you wants to be out in the world, deriving energy from fresh experiences. Another part of you wants to chill at home and enjoy comforts like sleeping late or binge-watching an addictive series. A parent or housemate could burst your bubble and make you feel less sure of yourself, but this feeling won’t last. Try not to let your ego get bruised. When Venus faces off with Uranus on the 21st, you might do a favor on a whim. You’re motivated by selflessness but don’t want to feel too obligated, so make sure the choice is yours. Help someone out because you want to. That night, the sun segues into your worth zone, turning more of your attention to what you have and need. This is a month for assessing your resources, getting your personal priorities straight and using your assets to your advantage. With Mercury backing into Sagittarius on the 22nd, you’re bound to review personal matters in the coming days and will probably feel a bit tongue-tied. Don’t worry too much about being misunderstood. Concentrate on understanding yourself better! Venus’s vibe with Neptune on Christmas Day puts a simple spin on joy, hinting that the pleasures of home and quiet time might be just what you need. Hole up with a close companion, your inner circle or even by yourself, relishing peace and relaxation. If you’re in an introspective mood, this could be the right time to release an old love or heal a relationship wound. When a full moon rocks your intensity zone on the 26th, sexual sparks could fly, or emotional intimacy could bloom. It’s also possible that an outside resource such as a grant or loan will come through soon. Once a year, a lunation pushes you to master the art of give-and-take. Strive to achieve a balance between looking out for your own needs and sharing what you have with someone else. If strong emotions like jealousy or anger bubble up, don’t stuff them back down; work through them.

On December 27th, the sun’s chemistry with Jupiter can enable you to tap into the resources you need. Make good use of your talents, connections, possessions, self-confidence and other assets to accomplish as much as you can. Mars in your sign is mobilizing you to plow through your to-do list, but his scuffle with Neptune on December 28th will make it difficult for you to take the emotional temperature around you and determine how to proceed. Or you might think you’re fired up to tackle everything on your agenda and find that what you really need is another day off to unwind. Be sure you’re getting enough water, nutritious food, sleep and R and R to recharge your battery. Don’t ignore your intuition or your mood, even if it means losing momentum temporarily. With Venus dancing into Sagittarius on the 29th for a month-long stay, you’ll be in a warm, friendly, flirty mood and will effortlessly draw people to you. Dress to please yourself, get out and enjoy life and turn on the charm with the object(s) of your affection. Jupiter’s direct turn on December 30th could soon make you busier at work, but you’ll also start to feel more efficient and able to tackle what’s on your plate. If you’ve been narrowing down your priorities because you bit off more than you could chew and got stressed out, now you can move ahead with a streamlined agenda.

Capricorn: Earth, cardinal.

CAPRICORN

December 22–January 19

Mercury arrives in Capricorn on December 1st, a turn of events that should make you more talkative and quick-thinking. If your busy brain breeds restlessness, pencil in diversions like day trips to scratch the itch. Venus in your ambition angle is at odds with Pluto in your sign on the 3rd, suggesting that a need to be in control can keep you from coming across well, especially with higher-ups. Try not to obsess over who’s calling the shots. Instead, demonstrate your ability to work well with others. You know what you want but may need to tone down your approach a little so you don’t step on toes.
With Venus waltzing into your network zone on the 4th, you’ll start to feel more sociable — just in time for holiday parties. Connect with your various circles in the flesh and online, plan nights out with friends and say yes to large gatherings that appeal to you. Venus’s harmony with your ruler, Saturn, on December 5th suggests that you’ll enjoy banding together with others, especially if you’re hanging locally or participating in an effort to improve your community. As Neptune resumes forward motion on the 6th, you’ll start to feel more capable of pulling your thoughts together and articulating them. Hazy ideas can give birth to inspired creative concepts, and signals you’ve picked up on lately could soon gel into a more useful perception. But there’s no rush to figure out what everything means. Give Neptune some time to pick up speed. On December 9th, Venus and Jupiter go head-to-head, which could spell over-the-top fun with your squad. You might need to reconcile a discrepancy between going along with the group and doing as you please. Romantic sparks with a friend are worth pursuing, as a love affair could take off now. Go ahead and play to your heart’s content, but keep in mind that there might be a price to pay for overdoing it. A new moon at the end of your chart on December 12th encourages you to retreat from the world to replenish your reserves. Seek peace of mind. Resolve to let go of something or someone you’ve held onto for the wrong reasons. Begin a new spiritual practice.

With Mercury turning retrograde in your sign on the 13th, it will be harder for you to get your message across clearly. Try not to worry too much about being misunderstood. Wait until the lines of communication open up in a few weeks. And postpone big decisions, since your judgment will be clouded. Instead, rethink your choices and ponder what you want to say—and how. With the sun hiding out in the last house of your chart and battling murky Neptune on the 16th, you’re not feeling your most clear-headed. You could suffer from a self-defeating mindset and should remind yourself that you don’t need to believe your thoughts. You have thousands every day, most of them quite fleeting. Are you freeze-framing negative ones and watering them so they grow? Try to catch yourself in the act. A Venus-Uranus opposition on December 21st could tempt you to break off from others and do what you want to do. You need a certain amount of freedom in order to get along with people and not feel put out. That night, the sun dashes into Capricorn, marking the winter solstice and the beginning of your birthday season. A welcome burst of energy can empower you to do what you’re meant to do in the coming month: Focus on yourself and what you want to make happen in your life. After Mercury backs out of your sign and into the last house of your chart on the 22nd, you’ll become more circumspect. Pay close attention to your hunches and dreams in the next few weeks. Between now and January 1st, you might reread old journals, rediscover a spiritual practice, reflect on the past and examine fantasies in search of insight into yourself. While Venus dances through your network zone and flirts with laid-back Neptune in your thinking-and-talking corner on Christmas Day, you can socialize and connect with people in a natural, effortless way. You’re able to relate to pretty much anyone now, especially if you follow your instincts. This is the perfect transit for showing your sentimental side.

When a full moon hits your interpersonal angle on the 26th, a relationship may reach a turning point and possibly come to an end or reach a new level of commitment. You may need to hand the spotlight over to someone who needs it more than you. As the sun in your sign forms a flowing angle with Jupiter on December 27th, you’re invited to bet on yourself and reach for the love and happiness you deserve. The stars want you to be all you can be, so don’t hide your personality and passion. Find the courage to show people what’s inside you. Mars in your subliminal sector spars with Neptune on the 28th, which could cause you to get sucked into doing something you didn’t intend to do. Although you may feel like you’re being played, you could also be sabotaging yourself for unconscious reasons. Don’t lose hope if you’re not getting much credit for your efforts. Take satisfaction from quietly working behind the scenes to serve the greater good. After Venus slips into your release court on December 29th, you’ll crave more alone time and private time with someone close to you, so don’t overbook — even though it’s your birthday season. Once Jupiter powers forward on December 30th, you’ll feel more hopeful about progress in your love life or on a creative project and more excited about making time for pleasure.

Aquarius: Air, fixed.

AQUARIUS

January 20–February 18

Once Mercury ducks into your release corner on December 1st, you’ll be less communicative and more prone to mulling matters over privately. In the next few weeks, you could get lots of studying done in a quiet setting or retreat from the world to meditate and reflect. A Venus-Pluto dustup on December 3rd hints that you might be holding onto jealousy or anger, and that’s keeping you from taking a chance on someone new. Or you might find yourself secretly obsessing over a pleasure (or person) that feels out of reach. Acknowledge the intensity of your feelings, at least to yourself.
You’ll have no trouble turning on the charm with authority figures who can help you climb the ladder after Venus crosses your ambition angle on the 4th and polishes your public image. You can make a favorable impression, so step into the spotlight, especially if you have creative work to show off. Venus clicks with Saturn on the 5th, so it would behoove you to stick to a budget and gradually build up your resources. This planetary pairing encourages you to do some self-promotion; it could land you a steady gig. With Neptune getting back in gear on the 6th, finances become clearer, but you could also find yourself yearning to splurge. Money can slip through your fingers and also magically appear. Let your highest values guide you rather than grasping at elusive pleasures. What do you truly need, according to your intuition? Your underlying confidence will help you sway people in power when Venus glides into an opposition with Jupiter on the 9th. Be careful not to overplay your hand, as there’s some risk of appearing arrogant. Putting your creative talents on display can feed your self-assurance, so don’t swing too far in the other direction and withhold what you have to offer the world. The new moon of December 12th coaxes you to join an organization, make a new friend, do more professional networking and pursue recent interests and goals by connecting with people who share them. Cast your net wider!

After Mercury pivots retrograde on the 13th, you’re due to turn more of your attention inward and glean information from dreams, memories, intuitive inklings and buried emotions. Don’t try to force communication. Tune out the noise and tune into your soul. On the 16th, insecurity may rear its ugly head when you’re in a group, due to a clash between the sun and Neptune. You might feel unsure of how you fit in — or not confident enough to stand out from the crowd and contribute your unique offering. If funds are low, that will make it harder to socialize or team up on an endeavor. Don’t allow peer pressure to make you feel less than or persuade you to forsake your core values. With Venus and Uranus facing off on December 21st, a mood swing or an unexpected development on the home front can compel you to forget about charming higher-ups and polishing your public image for a minute, so be prepared to switch gears. As the sun slips into your subliminal corner that night, your solar year begins to wind down. It’s appropriate to take a step back from the frenzy of daily life and give yourself a chance to rest and reflect. Find someplace peaceful where you can chill out and look back over the last year, in preparation for your upcoming birthday season when you’ll ramp it up and set your intentions for the future. After Mercury reverses into your network zone on the 22nd, you might reconnect with old friends and acquaintances in the next week or two. You could also rethink a new dream or review your various affiliations with groups. Stay away from gossip, as misunderstandings are par for the course now. On Christmas Day, a Venus-Neptune confab nudges you to honor what you have to offer by sharing it freely with others. You’ll make a positive impression, although that shouldn’t be your core motivation. You could work on something with heartfelt devotion, and the love behind what you’re doing will shine through. A full moon in your efficiency corner on December 26th could trigger a health or work crisis or a flurry of tasks and to-dos, and you might conclude that you have too much on your plate. This is the perfect time to say no to one more obligation or to ditch a time-wasting habit. A project may come to fruition if you’ve been toiling away.

The sun dovetails with Jupiter on the 27th, encouraging you to indulge in the comforts of home, so fingers crossed you don’t have to return to work that day. You might be moved to do something generous for a family member or housemate, but you could also gain a lot from looking within and reflecting on the past. A skirmish between Mars and Neptune on the 28th warns against mixing friendship and money, as there’s likely to be some confusion. Your interactions with a group could clash with your personal values or leave you feeling insecure. And if you’re chasing after a new dream, you may not have what you need to make it a reality just yet. Don’t get sidetracked by what you lack. Focus on what you can do, given your resources and your sense of self. With Venus showing up in your network zone on the 29th, you’ll thrive on big gatherings and shared activities in the month ahead. Schedule plenty of fun with friends in January. As Jupiter powers forward on December 30th, your underlying mood will improve, and you’ll feel more supported. If a family or domestic issue has been in limbo these last few months, it has a chance to move toward resolution now.

Pisces: Water, mutable.

PISCES

February 19–March 20

On December 1st, Mercury skips into your humanity-and-hopes house, directing some of your attention toward making fresh contacts and setting new goals. In the next few weeks, you’ll be inclined to network and connect with friends. A Venus-Pluto dustup on the 3rd could spell jealousy in your inner circle or a clash between your personal life and social life. Avoid emotional blackmail if you find yourself on either end of it. The allure of difference grows once Venus dashes into your exploration corner on the 4th, daring you to color outside the lines. Be more adventurous in who you date or what you do with your S.O. Expose yourself to unfamiliar cultures, places, people and arts.
When Venus vibes with Saturn in Pisces on December 5th, these pleasant learning experiences could lighten you up and help you feel more connected to the world. Saturn can have a sobering, isolating effect, but this transit will offset it. To make the most of it, step outside yourself and enjoy the unknown. On the 6th, Neptune powers on in Pisces after a five-month retrograde phase, making it easier for you to tune into the outside world and actively engage. You’ll feel less lost in your own thoughts, more creative and better able to make your dreams a reality. If you’ve been drifting, soon you’ll be more in sync with others. Use your intuition to get back in the swing of things. A Venus-Jupiter faceoff on December 9th increases your enthusiasm for the unfamiliar. An interaction with someone from a different world can open your mind, and conversely, keeping an open mind will help you relate to people from various walks of life. You can meet lots of interesting individuals if you’re traveling or pursuing diverse pleasures. The new moon at the peak of your chart on December 12th calls for you to set a new goal or embark on a new career chapter. It could be time to start doing more self-promotion, especially if you’re not satisfied with your public image or professional status. You might take on a leadership role or find yourself in the spotlight soon, so prepare to put your best foot forward. After Mercury goes retrograde on the 13th, brace yourself for crossed wires in your squad and other groups; back up your devices; and hold off on buying tech. And don’t engage in gossip! Do reconnect with an old friend or colleague and contemplate who you want on your team. Social media is sure to serve up its share of drama. Practice good “netiquette” and don’t waste time clapping back at trolls. You’ve been fairly focused on the professional and/or public side of your life and could feel burned out when the sun in your ambition angle gets lost in Neptune’s fog on December 16th. You’re liable to get down on yourself if you were on a roll and start losing momentum now. Don’t set the bar so high. Rest if you’re tired, then take a stab at relatively easy tasks. You’re striving to prove yourself but may not be sending the clearest signals. Don’t get discouraged if you’re unable to shine at the moment. Venus’s opposition with Uranus on the 21st can bring a pleasant diversion that keeps boredom at bay, and it hints at an impromptu getaway. Think outside the box when it comes to what (or who) is beautiful and interesting. After the sun soars into your humanity house that night, you’ll be less focused on standing out as an individual and making a name for yourself and more inclined to collaborate with others. Consider your various affiliations and the roles you play in other people’s lives. Group energy will give you a lift in the coming month, so don’t insist on going it alone. With Mercury reversing into your ambition angle on the 22nd, professional planning, communication with authority figures and articulating your objectives will be challenging until New Year’s Day. Try reviewing your goals, revising a business plan, researching careers and rethinking your PR. Venus harmonizes with your ruler, Neptune, on Christmas Day, suggesting that sampling a wide range of life’s pleasures can give you access to a truly transcendent experience. Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb and enjoy the unfamiliar; a beautiful escape could stem from a small risk. The planets are inspiring you to be your dreamy, romantic self. While love and joy can feel life-changing now, wait at least a week before making any big decisions. The full moon on December 26th may set off sparks that bring a creative venture to fruition or cause a love affair to blossom — or burn out. An urge for love and pleasure pushes you to express your needs and desires and enjoy life to the fullest.

The sun is syncing with Jupiter on December 27th, so you should be able to integrate with others and learn from each other. Be open to new people and new ideas. Do some professional networking or take a trip with your friends. With Mars needling Neptune in Pisces on the 28th, self-doubt or self-deception could pull you off-track while you’re in pursuit of a goal. Or you might feel like your efforts are misunderstood or underappreciated. Don’t force yourself to do something if your heart isn’t in it. When you’re tired, take a break. You don’t have to keep doing, doing, doing to be enough. You’re already enough! With Venus climbing to the peak of your chart on the 29th, you can win over higher-ups and earn accolades for creative work in the weeks to come. It’s relatively easy to get along with colleagues and maintain a positive image during this period. Jupiter’s direct turn on December 30th encourages you to keep communication above-board and respectful. If travel and learning opportunities temporarily dried up, your luck should soon turn.

Aries: Fire, cardinal.

ARIES

March 21–April 19

After Mercury climbs to the peak of your chart on December 1st, your mind will be on your goals and career. You’re able to articulate your aims to higher-ups and create a plan for success. On the 3rd, discord between Venus and Pluto can trigger tremors in a relationship if you’re fixated on what you want or one of you is pulling a power play. Compromise can save the day. Once Venus dives into your depth-and-merging zone the next day, your craving for closeness will surge over the next few weeks, and a particular bond could grow more intense. Singles might want to spend time alone processing strong feelings or hang one-on-one with the VIPs in your life.
A Venus-Saturn summit on December 5th encourages you to delve into emotions that you’ve pushed down inside you. That’s the only way they’re going to get resolved. You need to sift through them in order to come out on the other side. Lingering fears, regrets, doubts and sorrows can all be addressed when you shine a warm, loving light on them. On the 6th, Neptune’s U-turn at the end of your chart should also offer some peace of mind, as your inner quest for meaning and connection resumes on a more fruitful track. Trust your intuitive inklings, accept how you got to where you are and believe in your soul’s purpose. With Venus and Jupiter facing off on the 9th, intimacy and sharing can cause your self-confidence to soar, and on the flipside, feeling good about yourself can free you to get closer to someone. Since Jupiter tends to inflate whatever it comes in contact with, you might become a bit needy. But it’s also quite possible that you’ll want a lot from someone and receive it. The new moon of December 12th inspires you to get out of your routine, launch an entrepreneurial venture, take a trip, begin a course of study and be more adventurous.

The day after that, Mercury begins its retrograde phase, complicating communication with authority figures until January 1st. Watch your tone and reassess your goals rather than publicizing them. You might revise a business plan or rethink your professional path so it suits your current circumstances and identity better. When the energizing sun falls under the spell of hazy Neptune on December 16th, your enthusiasm may wane temporarily. While you’re intent on broadening your horizons in various ways, there may be a voice inside you whispering questions like “What does it all mean? Is this my true path? Where do I belong?” You might be charging ahead and then get pulled back into the past. If you’re swinging between eagerness and hopelessness, it’s hard to gauge the pros and cons. The reality is probably neither as perfect nor as bleak as you might imagine. As Venus and Uranus move into an opposition on the 21st, sharing and closeness gets more complicated, especially if your finances or confidence aren’t rock solid. Don’t let anxiety over a power imbalance cause you to lose sight of what you stand to gain. You might receive an unexpected bonus if you hang in there. That night, the sun ascends to your ambition realm, signaling that it’s your turn to shine. Time to set lofty goals and devote energy to achieving them. Keep a high profile in the coming month. You may be called upon to assume a leadership position or prove yourself on a bigger stage. Show off your capabilities, and you’re bound to get noticed. After Mercury backs into your exploration corner on December 22nd, you might revise something for publication, review a subject you already studied, reconsider your beliefs and opinions and try to regain perspective. Ride out delays and detours when traveling. Revisiting a place may prove easier than going somewhere for the first time. Harmony between Venus and Neptune on Christmas Day can generate a spiritual vibe. Quiet reflection or bonding with someone you care about can soothe your soul, and you’re encouraged to dig deep into emotions in order to enjoy the ultimate cathartic experience. The next day’s full moon draws your attention to matters close to home. While you’re busy chasing after aspirations in the outside world, be sure not to neglect family matters or shortchange self-care. A shift in your living situation could grab your interest, or you might feel the need to spend some peaceful time at home unwinding.

On the 27th, the sun dovetails with Jupiter, empowering you to showcase your talents and stand out from the crowd. You want to make a strong impression in a public or professional arena, and you have what it takes to dazzle — so don’t hide your light! Although Mars is motivating you to branch out and take risks for the sake of learning and growth, the red planet’s feud with Neptune suggest even bold, brave Rams can suffer from apprehension and melancholy. While you’re not supposed to blindly barrel full-steam-ahead now, that doesn’t mean you should throw in the towel. Simply focus on action that has the most meaning for you. And if there’s a nagging fear in the back of your head, face it squarely. After Venus dances into your exploration corner on the 29th, the appeal of difference is sure to increase. In the next month, you’ll naturally want to mingle with a wider range of people and enjoy more of what the world has to offer. As Jupiter finishes up its four-month retrograde phase on December 30th, money will start to flow more freely — maybe both in and out. You’ll gradually feel more certain of your values, your priorities and your own worth.

Taurus: Earth, fixed.

TAURUS

April 20–May 20

With Mercury sailing into your exploration corner on December 1st, the blinders come off, and a wider range of possibilities captures your attention. You’ll start thinking bigger and more philosophically, making this an ideal time for studying subjects you’re curious about and having intellectual discussions. You can learn a lot from travel and conversations with people whose beliefs differ from your own. On the 3rd, a Venus-Pluto scuffle suggests strong opinions can make it harder to maintain peaceful relations with coworkers. Allow for the possibility that there’s no one right way of doing something.
The next day, when Venus dances across your one-on-one angle, companionship becomes a higher priority, and you’ll find it easy to get along with people. Your agreeable mood facilitates happy compromises. A personal or professional partnership should hum along harmoniously this month. Venus’s chemistry with Saturn on the 5th hints that you could make a new friend or career contact. You might collaborate on a philanthropic endeavor, perhaps with a team of like-minded people. As Neptune resumes forward motion on the 6th, social planning and squad relations will be more straightforward. A particular friendship could get back on track soon. Are your various bonds healthy and organic? Look at the people in your life through a realistic lens. Venus opposes Jupiter in Taurus on December 9th, which could bring someone positive into your life or spark a romantic attraction. Another person might inspire and encourage you, but there’s also a chance you’ll be the one cheering others on. A new moon on December 12th nudges you to invest more in a close relationship, a passion project or a transformation process. Obsession and a compulsion to control can hinder progress; be willing to let go.

Mercury starts backpedaling on the 13th, calling for you to evaluate your opinions and beliefs, weed out prejudices and seek fresh perspective. Pause before sharing your POV, as muddled debates are par for the course now. Be patient with travel and education-related snags. You’ll have more luck revisiting a place and relearning something. A sun-Neptune melee on the 16th can throw off your relationships. You might be torn between your friends and your love interest or between getting close to one person and keeping your options open. If you’re focusing intently on a passion project or emotional issue, spreading yourself thin will wear you down, and you might run out of energy for the thing you want to concentrate on. With Venus confronting Uranus in Taurus on the 21st, you might crave companionship, but you’ll also feel the need to swerve in a different direction. Don’t dash off, leaving someone wondering what’s up with you. Allow for breaks and personal space so you won’t get fenced in and have the urge to make a quick getaway. If you want time off from closeness, say so as tactfully as possible. The sun sets up shop in your exploration corner that night, infusing you with even more inspiration to broaden your horizons. In the month ahead, you won’t be as interested in zeroing in on one person or undertaking. Despite Mercury’s retrograde, you can still expand your mind through travel and study. Seek out learning experiences wherever you can find them. You’re up for adventure and eager to expose yourself to a broader swath of what life has to offer. After Mercury reverses into your depth-and-merging sector on December 22nd, you might try turning some of your attention to a sticky financial issue, a research project or a psychological hurdle like an obsession or loss. If your mind drifts to an ex, keep in mind that reconnection can get complicated. On Christmas Day, your cosmic custodian, Venus, canoodles with Neptune, hinting that a platonic friendship could turn romantic. Or you might have a lovely vibe with someone in your extended circle. A soulmate bond is within the realm of possibility — and a creative partnership or important friendship may spark up as well. It’s easy to form connections now, and technology can act as a facilitator, so you may want to postpone a digital detox. The full moon of December 26th can bring big news or information overload, and you may feel pulled in a hundred different directions. Your neighborhood is the scene where all the action’s going down, so hang out nearby.

But on the 27th, the sun’s vibe with Jupiter multiplies the benefits of getting out of your comfort zone. Go in search of experiences that will open your eyes to other aspects of the world. If you can’t travel that day, talk to strangers, explore an unfamiliar subject or expose yourself to different beliefs. When Mars runs into trouble with Neptune on the 28th, sex or sharing could muddy the waters in a friendship. Don’t jump in with both feet. You’re probably not seeing the big picture. If you’re involved in a collaboration, do your due diligence, and don’t commit to anything that could tie your hands later. On the other hand, if you’re plugging away at something meaningful on your own, don’t let a lack of support deter you. After Venus segues into your depth-and-merging sector on the 29th, you’ll start to crave closeness and will want to feel accepted as your whole, authentic self. If you’re alone, this can be a good time to focus on loving yourself from the inside out. It’s full steam ahead on December 30th, courtesy of Jupiter wrapping up its four-month retrograde in Taurus. Your sense of optimism about creating a bigger and better life for yourself should return as the planet of growth gets up to speed. Although you might feel overstimulated at first, you’ll soon get your groove back. If you’ve reshuffled hopes and dreams since early September, clarify your mission and target top-priority plans. Keep learning about yourself and pushing the boundaries of your potential.

Gemini: Air, mutable.

GEMINI

May 21–June 20

Your ruler, Mercury, zips into your depth-and-merging camp on the 1st of the month, allowing you to zero in on a passion project, emotional issue, investigation or weighty discussion. You’ll be laser-focused for a while on what matters most to you instead of scattering your attention far and wide. A Venus-Pluto disagreement on the 3rd alludes to a clash between fun romance and heavy commitment, and jealousy may be an issue. Don’t gloss over what needs to change. When Venus enters your efficiency corner on the 4th, you might deal with practical matters in a relationship and try to make the process fun.
You could also decide to work on the relationship itself and see if the two of you can solve whatever problem you’re having. This transit encourages creative work and doing favors for people you care about. It also makes it easier to simply enjoy your everyday life, appreciating the details you might normally find mundane. On December 5th, Venus’s encounter with Saturn in your ambition angle confirms that you’re on track, and you may notice significant success soon. Keep plugging away with a positive attitude. And remember it’s a marathon, not a sprint. As Neptune awakens from his five-month slumber the next day, your life direction or career path can gradually clear up. If you’ve been confused about your vocation or disenchanted with your profession, find someone who can help you shape your dreams into goals. You’ve been on a mission to find your purpose and need to know that it’s not in vain. A Venus-Jupiter opposition on the 9th spans your productivity and spirit corners, and as a result, you might produce an inspired burst of creative work. Welcome the muse with open arms. This faceoff might tempt you to ditch the daily grind and go off the grid for a bit, or you could wind up traveling for work. You could also be moved to make a generous sacrifice for someone you care about and will relish being of service. The new moon in your one-on-one angle on December 12th implies a new partnership could be in the pipeline, or you could be poised to take an existing relationship to the next level, making a bigger commitment.

Mercury pivots retrograde on the 13th, which could mess with communication in a close relationship and lure you to reflect on a loss or reminisce about an ex. Protect any info you want to keep private. Revive an investigation. Search your psyche for nuggets of truth. As the sun in your interpersonal angle tussles with Neptune in your ambition arena on the 16th, you may be unsure of what direction a relationship is headed in — or you may see what you want to see and assume you’re on the same page with someone. Or perhaps you feel like your partner isn’t there for you as you strive to reach your goals. You’re meant to focus on your one-on-one connections now but could have trouble forming a cohesive unit. You’ll probably have better luck working toward a creative, spiritual or charitable objective. When Venus glides into a standoff with Uranus on December 21st, you’re bound to get distracted, even if you’re enjoying what you’re doing. You could work against yourself if you don’t allow room for tangents and timeouts. On the flipside, a selfless impulse might lead to a loving gesture that serves the greater good. Once the sun sneaks into your power-and-sharing zone that night, you’ll do an even deeper dive into a relationship, private matter or passion project. This transit puts you in touch with what’s going on inside you and beneath the surface of things, so you’ll be more in tune with your own inner workings and with the subtle, hidden dynamics between individuals. But with Mercury reversing into your interpersonal angle on the 22nd, you may get into more misunderstandings and could revisit an old conflict. Rather than belaboring a point, make better use of this time by contemplating your bonds and perhaps rethinking the terms of one. Venus’s chemistry with Neptune on Christmas Day allows you to get along well with people and show you care by performing acts of service. You’ll feel a strong sense of purpose when you’re being creative or useful and helpful. A positive attitude and selfless devotion to a calling beyond your own interest can provide immense satisfaction. The next night’s full moon in your worth zone can trigger impulse splurges, as the line between wants and needs becomes blurred. But you could also hit pay dirt soon, especially if you’ve been working hard. A surge of confidence could lead you to ask for what you deserve, and someone may surprise you with their support.

The sun’s collaboration with Jupiter on December 27th indicates that introspection and intimacy can teach you something about your true self and give you a sense of hope. This pairing makes it easier for you to accept who you are and give another person the benefit of the doubt as well. A feud between Mars and Neptune on the 28th may point to a conflict in a close relationship over where things are headed. It won’t be easy to settle the problem through a confrontation. Press pause to clear your head, and avoid projecting your frustration onto another person. With Venus crossing your one-on-one angle on the 29th, you’ll be in the mood to spend time with individuals you care about and should have a fairly easy time maintaining smooth relations in the next few weeks. Once Jupiter gets back in gear on December 30th, you’ll begin to feel more supported by the universe and ready to trust that it will all work out. If you’ve been seeking closure, exploring spirituality or doing something that benefits others, this quest will get back on track soon.

Cancer: Water, cardinal.

CANCER

June 21–July 22

Mercury’s arrival in your interpersonal angle on December 1st can open up dialogues with other individuals and enable you to hash out issues in close relationships. The Venus-Pluto quarrel on December 3rd signals that an obligation could prevent you from relaxing at home, particularly if someone calls in a favor. Or you might be torn between playing it safe and risking getting hurt. Soon after Venus pirouettes into your fulfillment court on the 4th, you’ll want to get out and have fun. It’s time to enjoy life, express what’s in your heart, indulge in romance, show off your creativity, let your inner child out to play and revel in being your true self.
A Venus-Saturn mashup on the 5th implies that in doing so, you can learn, grow and shape your vision of the future. The planets want you to take chances now, and Saturn ensures you won’t go too far out on a limb. As Neptune powers on in your exploration corner on the 6th, your vision of the future comes into sharper focus. Let old prejudices dissolve, and make peace with the liminal space of not having answers. False boundaries are melting away, opening your mind so you can discover personal truths and philosophies that resonate with your spirit. When Venus and Jupiter go toe-to-toe, it could pit your pleasure against group interests, making you feel conflicted. Your love life, creative expression and personal happiness is on one end of the seesaw, while friendship, team spirit and your ideals are on the other. But you can balance all this by enjoying life to the fullest with a big group of people or making a creative contribution to a group effort. You might be hoping your squad will support something you’re passionate about, and chances are they will. The new moon of December 12th invites you to get organized; launch a job search; start a different diet or exercise regimen; implement a new schedule; adopt a positive habit; and learn a skill.

Mercury goes off the grid on the 13th, jamming the signals between you and other individuals. Avoid jumping to conclusions. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Rehashing old arguments might not foster mutual understanding, but reviewing your relationships and agreements with others — spoken and unspoken — will be worth it. You’re geared up to get tons done, but a sun-Neptune melee on December 16th could cause you to lose steam. No matter how strong your work ethic is, your enthusiasm will fade, as an escape of one form or another lures you off course. Whether it’s a trip, an enthralling idea or a daydream, you’re bound to check out for a bit. Or maybe you’ll lose the sense of meaning in what you’re doing and wonder what it’s all for. It could dawn on you that you don’t know enough to accomplish a particular task—but don’t give up. On the 21st, a Venus-Uranus opposition can generate surprising romantic sparks or spontaneous fun with friends. Others may want to march to the beat of their own drummer, and you’ll get along better if you give people the same freedom you desire. With the sun crossing your one-on-one angle that night, you won’t be all about taking care of business in the month to come. Your relationships move front and center, and partnering with people will boost your energy. You can learn about yourself by noticing what roles you play in your closest connections. It’s a good time of year to consider how you’re faring as a significant other, best friend or business partner. After Mercury backs into your efficiency corner on the 22nd, mix-ups at work and scheduling snafus are to be expected, and details could get overlooked. Between now and January 1st, you might try revising your to-do list, researching jobs, reviewing your habits, reconfiguring your workspace, taking stock of your health and considering alternative approaches. Venus and Neptune sync up on Christmas Day, inspiring you to throw yourself into an entirely different type of experience. Escapist pleasures like travel, parties and love affairs will put a smile on your face. This planetary pairing gives you the perfect excuse to indulge in a fantasy. On a more spiritual note, empathy and compassion for people whose lives are very different from yours can inspire heartfelt generosity. You’re not drawing sharp distinctions between yourself and others, and the resulting feeling of unity can be beautiful. When a full moon rocks your sign on the 26th, you’re bound to be extra emotional. It’s fine to put your needs first, as long as you respect the rights of others. Open up about how you’re feeling and turn to your squad if you could use some support. This is arguably your best moon of the entire year for saying enough is enough. If anyone or anything is pushing you over the edge, maybe it’s time to cut the cord.

The sun high-fives Jupiter on the 27th, fueling socializing and networking. This is a great time for group activities and meeting new people, so don’t fly solo. When Mars argues with Neptune on December 28th, you’re apt to lose some momentum and might question the point behind all the hard work you’re putting in. Maybe your intent is to accomplish certain things in a very specific way, but part of you wants to drift along on faith. Don’t make it a matter of either/or. It’s a yellow light, so slow down and consider waiting for a clear path. After Venus enters your productivity corner on the 29th, you might use your artistic skills more, enjoy being of service to others or opt to improve a relationship in the next few weeks. Thanks to Jupiter’s about-face on December 30th, your belief in people and the support you get from them will increase, especially if they’ve waned during the last four months.

Leo: Fire, fixed.

LEO

July 23–August 22

After Mercury zings into your efficiency corner on the 1st, you’ll be in a more serious frame of mind and ready to tackle detailed mental work. You can draw up meticulous plans, use critical thinking to solve problems and concentrate on what needs to get done. Good communication with colleagues is another bonus in the next week or two. On the 3rd, Venus’s argument with Pluto implies your workload or your health can take you out of a good mood. Try to keep looking at the bright side regardless. Once Venus descends to the foundation of your chart on December 4th, you’re all about the pleasures of home and family.
Whether the domestic god(dess) in you comes out to cook, bake, bartend, host, decorate, etc. or you become intimately acquainted with your couch and your streaming queue, staying in will feel tempting for the next few weeks. Relax, indulge in self-care, have people over, catch up on your sleep, hang with your inner circle and enjoy your downtime. When Venus gels with Saturn on December 5th, you could cozy up to someone you’re serious about in the privacy of your home, meet each other’s families or experience self-acceptance and self-respect while processing feelings and memories. As Neptune edges forward on the 6th, a close connection can start to make more sense, and you might clarify your expectations. Consider how you share power and whom you trust. A Venus-Jupiter standoff on the 9th could find you wavering between relishing the pleasures of home and chasing after your goals. You might combine domestic decadence and lofty ambitions by throwing a big party or have a rewarding interaction with a high-status person. Aim for a balance between relaxation and aspiration. A new moon on December 12th lures you to find fresh sources of love, happiness and fun in the weeks ahead. You might embark on a romance, get interested in a hobby, start a creative project or discover a new passion.

With Mercury shifting retrograde on the 13th, you’re liable to overlook details and might need to correct yourself later. Edit yourself at work, as crossed wires at the office are common now. The upside? In the next week and a half, you might relearn a skill, reapply for a job, revise your work, revamp your routine and research a health matter. You may not get the response you’re after when the sun in your self-expression sector gets lost in Neptune’s fog on the 16th. But don’t let anyone rain on your parade. You’re in the mood to be who you are and do as you please, and focusing on feedback can dilute your joie de vivre. Romantic relationships can feel bewildering and even tiring under this influence, especially if you’re putting someone on a pedestal. It may seem like you know who you are but aren’t sure what someone else is offering. Venus and Uranus go head-to-head on December 21st, jeopardizing your enjoyment of home and family. You might have to deal with an unforeseen development or a boss’s demand. Accept that juggling work and pleasure is just part of life. The sun marches into your efficiency corner that night, signaling that it’s time to get down to business. All play and no work might sound pretty great during the holiday season, but you’ll feel better when you grab your to-do list and start checking stuff off. This is a month to get organized and focus on the tasks at hand. Channel your energy into doing things well and improving your health. Venus and Neptune have a dreamy encounter on Christmas day that can help you get in touch with your private emotions and savor closeness with someone special. If romance and sex aren’t in the cards, don’t think you’re missing out on the best this planetary pairing has to offer. Bonding with family and friends will be plenty blissful. Plus, you could feel deeply in tune with your psyche and enjoy the catharsis of accepting and loving yourself just as you are. This can be an ideal opportunity to give yourself the gift of forgiveness. The full moon on December 26th shines its high beams into your subliminal zone, so something secret or suppressed could come to light. Pay attention to your hunches, dreams and flights of imagination because they may contain valuable nuggets of truth. This is a great lunation for releasing an unhealthy attachment and ending a particular chapter of your life. You’re making space for what’s next!

The sun joins forces with Jupiter on December 27th, empowering you to back up promises with hard work. You have the energy to get tons done, and if you channel it wisely, you can check off some major objectives now. A Mars-Neptune skirmish on the 28th is bound to complicate matters, since you’re feeling bold enough to take a gamble and go after what you want, but the outcome is TBD. Avoid financial risks for the time being. And if you pursue someone you’re attracted to, don’t hang your hat on a specific response. Do what pleases you because it pleases you, not to get a result that hinges on another person. With Venus sashaying into your joy realm on the 29th for a four-week visit, you’ll start to feel more sociable. It’s a favorable period for play, creativity, romance and leisurely pursuits like hobbies. Jupiter is due to power up on December 30th, infusing you with fresh ambition and making you more optimistic about your career track. Since Jupiter, the planet of excess, has a tendency to go overboard, just be careful not to come on like gangbusters around higher-ups.

Virgo: Earth, mutable.

VIRGO

August 23–September 22

Mercury, your planetary ruler, lands in your joy sector on the 1st, bringing out your sense of humor, your creativity and your playful side. Your mind wants to be entertained, and you might opt to read and write for pleasure; challenge your brain with games; or study something for fun. A Venus-Pluto skirmish on the 3rd hints that intense desire can lure you to put your confidence or finances on the line. Stop to ask what this fixation is really worth to you. With Venus sauntering into your thinking-and-talking corner on December 4th, you’ll see the glass as half full and can easily express your positive feelings.
You’re likely to be in a flirty mood for much of the month. The very next day, a Venus-Saturn conference suggests singles might meet someone with LTR potential while coupled Virgos could have a productive dialogue with their partners. On December 6th, Neptune comes out of reverse, making it easier to read people and to view your relationships sensibly. If you’ve put someone on a pedestal, romanticized a connection or are yearning for an unavailable person, seeing the truth will allow you to form healthier, more real relationships. A confrontation between Venus and Jupiter on December 9th could instigate a spirited, good-humored debate, or you might take off to an exciting destination. Even if you stay put, you’re likely to interact with interesting people who open up your world and inspire you — so don’t keep to yourself. You have the capacity to soak up the love and beauty all around you during this transit, making it vital for you to get out and see people and places. Learning, travel and standing up for your ideals will all be gratifying. A new moon at the base of your chart on December 12th points to the possibility of an imminent change in your family or living situation. This lunation coaxes you to incorporate a new self-care ritual into your routine.

Mercury enters its retrograde phase on the 13th, which could leave you tongue-tied when speaking from the heart. Use the next week or so to revise creative writing, reread something for pleasure, rediscover an old source of fun and reevaluate what fulfills you. You may feel like you don’t have the energy to deal with people when the sun in your foundation angle squares off with Neptune in your interpersonal realm on December 16th. If you’re content to hunker down at home, you might find that having to interact with a particular person is rather draining. This solar position can make you more sensitive, and if someone is confusing you, you’re apt to take it personally. But your sensitivity can also lead you to take care of a loved one who needs you. A Venus-Uranus faceoff on December 21st can complicate communication, but living in the moment might protect you from getting upset. Try to accept that you don’t know what will happen. Uranus is prone to tossing the outcome up for grabs. A flirtation or a budding interest can provide an exciting diversion if you resist the urge to categorize it. That night, the sun bursts into your joy camp, inspiring you to be yourself and enjoy life to the fullest. This is a month where you should feel free to march to the beat of your own drummer and have as much fun as possible. Express your creativity and your quirks and draw energy from doing what pleases you. After Mercury backslides down to the base of your chart on December 22nd, your mind will drift to the past, and you might start to rethink your living situation. Take a walk down memory lane in search of fresh insights and consider reconnecting with a relative you’ve lost touch with. ‘Tis the season! On Christmas Day, you won’t view the world through an analytical lens or interact with people selectively. Chalk it up to a free-flowing angle between amiable Venus in your mindset-and-communication corner and spiritual Neptune in your relationship realm. Rose-colored glasses are giving everyone and everything a pleasant glow, inspiring you to flirt, show your sentimental side and spread compassion. Savor the lovely feeling of being on the same wavelength with others and seeing what’s beautiful and good. Your connections are bound to benefit from this generous dose of lovingkindness. When a full moon illuminates your humanity house on the 26th, you might have to be there for a friend in need or play a prominent role in a group. You could also decide to part ways with an organization or take a break from a drama-queen friend.

The sun’s harmony with Jupiter on the 27th encourages you to get out and have fun, possibly taking a trip or having some other experience that excites you and even scares you a little bit. With Mars at the base of your chart battling Neptune in your relationship realm on December 28th, underlying irritability could get you into an argument that goes nowhere. Keep your mood in check and don’t feel guilty if you need time alone to chill. Someone may confuse you or let you down, but getting a handle on your own feelings will probably be a better use of your energy than confronting this person. After Venus dips down to your foundation angle, the pleasures of home and family become more pronounced in the next few weeks, and you might go on a decorating spree or relish playing host(ess). When Jupiter does a U-turn on December 30th after a nearly four-month retrograde, you’ll receive an infusion of renewed faith in your vision. Keep moving forward into the future you’ve dreamed of!

Libra: Air, cardinal.

LIBRA

September 23–October 22

After Mercury sneaks down to the bottom of your chart on December 1st, you’ll be more attuned to your innermost thoughts and emotions, and your mind could drift to the past. If it feels like talking will help, confide in someone you trust. Venus in Libra squabbles with Pluto on the 3rd, so domestic difficulties or turbulent emotions can threaten a good mood. Ignoring the problem won’t help. Deal with what’s going on at home or inside you to restore a feeling of wellbeing. When Venus exits your sign on the 4th, she heads into your worth arena next, increasing your desire for nice things and helping you to draw in what you need.
On December 5th, a Venus-Saturn summit encourages you to maintain a solid work ethic and tackle the tasks you’re given — even the thankless ones. Your efforts and humility really will pay off in time. Once Neptune powers forward on the 6th, you should feel more capable of getting healthy habits like nutritious eating and regular exercise back on track if you’ve fallen off the wellness wagon. To enhance your productivity, get organized in whatever ways you choose. Your desire to have what you feel you need is quite acute as your cosmic ruler, Venus, dances into an opposition with Jupiter in your sharing sector on December 9th. If you’re pinning your hopes on getting what you want from an outside source or a partner, this might be the time to dial down your expectations and concentrate on your own ability to take care of yourself. The new moon of December 12th coaxes you to become more active in your community; take short trips; tackle paperwork and your email inbox; begin a writing project; and learn something new in the weeks that follow.

After Mercury goes retrograde on the 13th, you’ll begin to drift down memory lane in your head, and signals on the home front will be scrambled. You could reconnect with family, rethink your living situation and ruminate on private feelings. If you feel misunderstood when trying to articulate your emotions, you might stick to introspection for now or speak to a healing professional like a therapist. The sun in your thinking-and-talking corner is feeding you plenty of ideas and piquing your interest in sampling more of what life has to offer. But his spat with Neptune in your efficiency corner on December 16th implies the details of making things happen can take the wind out of your sails. You can talk a good game now but may have trouble executing. If you can’t figure out how to do what’s in your head, you might feel like giving up. Helping others or being receptive to their input could be the ticket to moderate productivity. When Venus and Uranus go head-to-head on December 21st, closeness can get trickier. Give someone the freedom to surprise you instead of fixating on something specific you want from them—and being thrown if they don’t deliver as expected. After the sun dips down to your foundation angle that night, your home life and family grab a bigger slice of your attention in the month ahead. Even if you’re normally a social creature, you’ll require downtime here and there in the privacy of your own space so you can unwind and tune into your own frequency. It’s the time of year when you check in with yourself and sift through your innermost thoughts, feelings and memories, taking stock of where you are in your life. Once Mercury backs into your cognition-and-communication camp on the 22nd, you’ll need to be extra patient with crossed wires and travel difficulties. Reconnect with a sibling or neighbor, review information, revisit a nearby place or rewrite something. Venus harmonizes with Neptune on Christmas Day, enabling you to feel good about doing good. Use your talents to perform a service that benefits other people. This planetary pairing also links positive self-esteem with taking great care of your body. You might decide it’s time to clean up your diet, try a more enjoyable workout or show yourself love by addressing your mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. With a full moon activating your ambition angle on the 26th, a goal could come to fruition soon, or you could reach a career crossroads. If you find yourself being called on to perform, all your hard work and the support of someone close to you can help you put your best foot forward. You might step into a leadership role or shift directions on your life path before long.

The sun is in sync with Jupiter on the 27th, hinting that relaxing with someone you feel comfortable with will foster closeness, while introspection can help you feel more at peace with where you are in your life. Mars in your communication court is pushing you to assert yourself, to be more direct with people and to advocate for your ideas. But his melee with Neptune on the 28th could lead you to forget key details or face blank stares from colleagues in response to your impassioned pitch. Slow down and consider your words carefully. Don’t jump to conclusions when you don’t have all the facts. And try not to force matters if a particular outcome doesn’t seem viable. With Venus sashaying into your thinking-and-talking zone on December 29th, you can look forward to positive thoughts and pleasant interactions in the next few weeks. Express your affection freely and soak up the warmth and beauty all around you. As Jupiter shifts back into first gear on December 30th after traveling retrograde since early September, you’ll feel more psychologically resilient. And if you haven’t received the support you need or the help you rely on from an outside resource, it should start to flow more freely soon.

Scorpio: Water, fixed.

SCORPIO

October 23–November 21

Once Mercury segues into your thinking-and-talking corner on the 1st, the pace of your thoughts, speech and everyday interactions is bound to pick up. You’ll start to think more about traveling, connecting with people and learning as much as you can. As Venus scuffles with Pluto on the 3rd, you could obsess over a past love or private attachment and cause yourself pain. Let your emotions flow through you and out of you rather than holding onto them for dear life and going over and over them in your mind.
Lovely Venus pirouettes into Scorpio on December 4th — so if you’ve been reclusive lately, your craving for solitude is likely to wane as the appeal of seeing people grows exponentially. You’ll feel your most outgoing and attractive, and others will pick up on your positive vibes and want to be in your orbit this month. The very next day, a Venus-Saturn mashup suggests love, creative endeavors and personal pleasure may take a serious turn — in a good way! You could become more committed to what you already have going or resolve to pursue your heart’s desire with determination. When Neptune pivots forward on December 6th after five months of traveling retrograde, passion reawakens, and desires take shape. A creative concept may find new life, or you could view a romantic interest with fresh eyes. Take love and happiness seriously, treating them as objectives, not merely ideals. Venus dances into an opposition with Jupiter in your relationship realm on December 9th, heightening your desire for connection or causing you to want a lot from a particular person. You might want closeness with a partner, but they need more space. Or maybe you’ve built someone up too much and have yet to figure out if they can give you what you want. If there’s friction, open and honest dialogue can put things right. A new moon on the 12th points to the need for a new stream of income, a new financial strategy, stronger self-esteem or a new set of priorities based on what you value most now.

Mercury’s retrograde turn on the 13th can tie up communication and travel, so put off signing paperwork, having important talks and making big decisions for a few weeks. You’re identifying strongly with what you have and what you need (or think you need) while the sun is barreling through your worth house. His dust-up with Neptune in your fulfillment court on December 16th could lead to ill-advised financial moves if you’re not being real with yourself about how much you truly must have something. You may be idealizing the amount of pleasure it will bring and viewing the object of your desire as essential to expressing your identity. On the 21st, Venus in your sign goes toe-to-toe with Uranus, hinting at out-of-the-blue flirtation. Someone new might show up in your life, or restlessness could disrupt an existing connection. Don’t try to hold onto another person. Uranus encourages you to live in the present and look to the future with the expectation that change is inevitable. Your brain and your interactions receive a jolt of energy when the sun saunters into your cognition-and-communication house that night. You’ll be able to put a lot of yourself into everything you say in the month to come and you may notice an upswing in the rhythm of daily life. Neighborhood activities, learning, short trips, writing and conversation are all favored. When Mercury backs into your worth zone on the 22nd, it would be a good idea to ask yourself what’s most important to you. Are you satisfied with how you’re earning a living? What do you base your self-esteem on? Are you maximizing your innate gifts? Are you living by your core personal values? How can you become more self-sufficient and fiscally secure? If you’re tempted to splurge on something, consider whether you need it or want it. If the answer is want, what deeper desire do you expect it to fulfill? Christmas Day could feel light and bright as Venus in Scorpio meshes with Neptune. This planetary blend can inspire you to flirt; pour out your heart; get dressed up; wax poetic; pine for the object of your affection; and indulge in creativity, fantasy, romance and fun. You might feel profound love or lose yourself in a pleasurable activity you’re passionate about. With a full moon illuminating your exploration corner on the 26th, a taste for adventure could inspire you to take a leap of faith. A big trip, publishing deal or entrepreneurial venture may finally become a reality under this lunation. Because a shift in your perspective is called for, this is the perfect time to drop a personal belief that has limited your growth and make space for a more empowering outlook.

On December 27th, the sun in your thinking-and-talking corner vibes with Jupiter, setting the stage for lively, positive communication. Expressing your real self can allow you to meet new people who are good for you, and it can also enhance existing connections. A Mars-Neptune conflict on December 28th alludes to a hasty financial move that’s fueled by the promise of pleasure. Avoid splurging on impulse, as buyer’s remorse is likely to follow. If you can detect a negative correlation between your love life and self-worth now, tell yourself to stop trying so hard. You may be putting someone on a pedestal and selling yourself short. As Venus segues out of your sign and into your worth camp on the 29th, your tastes could become more lavish — but you may also attract more money. With Jupiter finishing up its retrograde period on December 30th, your faith in other people resurges, and relationship progress seems possible.
