Help, Delivered: “What Do You Recommend For Super Dry Skin?”

A nourishing oil for an effortless French-Girl look.

One of my first stops during a trip to Paris is always – the pharmacy, ready to load up my suitcase with beauty staples that I can’t find at home. While the reality is that any routine requires some effort, the French are on to a few products that seem to easily achieve the desired effect, as the French-Girl aesthetic is touted as effortless, natural, and simple.

One such product? Nuxe’s Huile Prodigieuse, a multi-use oil designed to revive and rejuvenate dry skin and hair, with the power to give you plump and glowy skin, without a heavy lift. Plagued by dry skin year round, but especially in winter, I luckily discovered that this oil works wonders.
In fact, Huile Prodigieuse, which was created back in 1992, is France’s best-selling all purpose oil, so if you’re looking for authentic French-Girl beauty products, this is it.

If in the past you’ve been inclined to choose lotions over oils, I get it – it’s a little weird slathering yourself up like a bodybuilder, but as a final step in the skincare process, oil helps to lock in moisture without you feeling slippery.

The rich formula, which is made with a mix of seven oils (including hazelnut, sweet almond, and camellia), has a rich, strong scent that is floral, sweet, and a little nutty. If I’m rubbing it on in the morning, I tend to skip any perfume as it's pleasant and strong enough on its own.

As someone who tends to be dry all over, a moisturizing oil has become my go-to post-shower. My arms and legs also welcome a thick slathering of this oil, and when the weather gets cold, applying to my hands is a necessity daily. After applying it, my skin is soft and glowy, but never greasy. It sits on the skin for a bit before absorbing, so I tend to relax in my robe straight after application, giving it ample time to soak in.

Since the oil is multi-use, I’ll also rub some into the ends of my hair to help combat the tangles that tend to get especially bad when my hair is brittle and dry mid-winter (it can also be used as a 10-minute hydrating mask pre-shampoo when my hair feels extra damaged).

With winter on the way, now is the perfect time to get a jump start on keeping your skin bright, soft, and hydrated. Even without a chance to pop into a French pharmacy, you can now have that je ne sais quoi glow.
