I owe it all to you, TikTok.
I’ll admit, I spend way too much time on social media nowadays... especially TikTok, since there are so many cool ideas and DIYs to try, and so much fashion content to inspire my daily outfit choices. For the past few weeks especially, I’ve been seeing clip after clip about twisting and tying otherwise simple camis into totally new looks.
Turns out I wasn’t the only one. Some of our studio stylists said they’ve been styling their camis like that for years, and basically doubled their summer wardrobe as a result. Instead of just one tank that you can only wear one way, you can customize it to be a brand new shirt.
We decided to give it a go with a few pieces from our Intimately collection, and found that these tricks work best on a cropped style with a good amount of stretch. (Pro tip: our Seamless Collection is perfect for this!) It’s also good to use a top that has a lower neckline, like a scoop neck or V-neck. Big shout out to our Scoop Neck Crop which has been one of my favorites for years, but has only just found its full potential.

The Crisscross
The first look is super simple and incredibly cute. You just flip one strap through inside out, and pull the twisted part to the center so it wears like a summer-ready bra top. It adds ruching to the cups and a fun knotted detail in the center of the front and back.

The One Shoulder
For the next style, just pull one strap over your head and position it on your shoulder for a single-sleeve look. It creates a double-strap silhouette with a cutout detail that shows a little skin. You can also do this one without twisting it.

The Halter
This one is my absolute favorite. You would never guess that it started out as a simple cami. After pulling one strap over from the last look, take the opposite strap and pull it over your head to sit on your other shoulder. This trick creates a sultry keyhole neckline, perfect for summer nights out or a sunny beach day.

Turns out that basics are really the star pieces of our wardrobes. Happy twisting!
