The lunar nodes are points in space where the moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic (the apparent path of the sun). The north node brings opportunity and allows you to take what you need in those areas ruled by their respective sign. Conversely, the south node, in the opposite sign, is where you release. On January 18th, the moon’s nodes move into Taurus and Scorpio, where they will remain until July 17th, 2023. For each sign in the zodiac, we can grow in the Taurus house of our chart during the next 18 months, and should learn to let go in our Scorpio house. After your January forecast, you’ll find a sneak peek at what the nodes’ arrival in Taurus and Scorpio means for you. Happy New Year!

CAPRICORN

December 22–January 19

On the first day of 2022, the Capricorn sun clicks with revolutionary Uranus, which can help you to funnel your energy into expressing yourself and enjoying life. Seek out novel, exciting routes to creativity, romance and fun. Doubling down on that theme, a new moon lands in your sign on January 2nd, inviting you to make a fresh start. The timing is perfect for New Year’s resolutions, because this lunation provides you with motivating momentum. Be willing to experiment with different sources of potential happiness to find what truly fulfills you. When Mars in your subliminal sector quarrels with Neptune on the 11th, you might get sucked into doing something you didn’t plan on doing. You could feel like you’re being played, but there’s a chance you’re sabotaging yourself for unconscious reasons. Don’t lose hope if you’re not getting much credit for your efforts lately. Take satisfaction from quietly working behind the scenes to serve the greater good. After Mercury does a U-turn in your worth house on the 14th, your financial judgement won’t be on point. Postpone negotiations and splurges for at least a few weeks and review your budget. The sun meets up with Pluto in Cap on January 16th, enabling you to project a powerful vibe that says “Don’t mess with me!” You’re evolving into a force to be reckoned with. Be conscious of your influence over others, and use it with integrity rather than manipulating people. You could have a breakthrough today if you’re fully invested in the private process of transformation that’s taking place inside you. When Uranus pivots direct on the 18th, romantic sparks could fly. You may have a sense of urgency about chasing after pleasure and expressing your individuality. Use your head when it comes to taking a rash risk. Starting on January 24th, Mars will rev up Capricorn for the first time since February–March 2020. The planet of action will give you a whopping dose of energy to achieve what you want to achieve in the next six weeks. Work independently if possible; your formidable drive can cause you to dominate other people. If you need to fight for your rights, Mars will give you the guts to do so. Burn off excess fuel with challenging workouts so you don’t go into overdrive. With Mercury backing into Cap on the 25th, you’ll review personal matters in the coming days and will probably feel a bit tongue-tied. Don’t worry too much about being misunderstood — concentrate on understanding yourself better. Fortunately, Venus shifts back into gear on January 29th. So, you’ll feel increasingly capable of conveying the image that you want to in the days that follow. Your desires will begin to gel, and you’ll have more power to attract what you want. When the sun spars with Uranus in your pleasure sector on January 30th, you’ll be tempted to grab for today’s treat and forget about tomorrow’s security. Of course you deserve some joy in your life! But you may not be doing your future self any favors if you roll the dice to get what you think you want — and lose what you need in the process. Find clever means of using what you already have. Rebel in small ways that feed your hunger for adventure. You don’t have to be predictable to be prudent.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

With the moon’s north node arriving in your 5th house on January 18th for an 18-month stay, the pursuit of love, happiness, self-expression and personal fulfillment becomes a path of growth for you. Don’t cling to collective interests, your team of supporters or your affiliations with groups. Nudge your role in others’ lives to the background, and focus on writing your own story.

AQUARIUS

January 20–February 18

With the sun hiding out in your release realm and meshing with your ruler, Uranus, on New Year’s Day, retreating from the world will be deeply satisfying. Introspection can shed light on your backstory, emotions, family, insecurities and home life, so turn inward. The discoveries you make can liberate you from the past and shift something inside you. When Mars and Neptune feud on the 11th, friendship and money won’t mix. Group interactions could clash with your values or leave you feeling insecure. If you’re chasing after a new dream, you may not have what you need to make it a reality just yet. Don’t get sidetracked by what you lack. Focus on what you can do, given your resources and your sense of self. Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius on January 14th, which will make it more challenging for you to get your message across clearly. Don’t worry too much if you’re misunderstood; wait until the lines of communication open up in a few weeks. And postpone big decisions, since your judgment will be clouded. Instead, rethink your choices and ponder what you want to say — and how. A sun-Pluto mashup on the 16th calls for you to face intense feelings that might be eating you up inside. You can transform them into strengths, and a key part of the process is forgiveness. Think of forgiveness as your superpower now. Whether you need to let yourself or another person off the hook, it’s time. Uranus does a 180° on January 18th, making you even more aware of unresolved emotions, instability in your family or home life and the need to break free from old patterns. The next day, the sun arrives in Aquarius, kicking off your birthday season! Now you’ll have more energy and can make a strong impression on others. This is your time of year to focus on yourself. After Mars ducks into your retreat corner on the 24th, however, you won’t find it very easy to get credit for your efforts. If you’re willing to work behind the scenes for the next six weeks, you can accomplish plenty. Just keep an eye on any tendencies to undermine yourself, because this planetary position can trigger regressive behavior. Confront self-sabotage instead of taking your frustrations out on someone else. You’ll become more circumspect on the 25th, when Mercury backpedals out of Aquarius. Pay attention to hunches and dreams in the days ahead. You might rediscover a spiritual practice, reread old journals, reflect on the past and examine fantasies to gain insight into yourself. Venus powers forward on the 29th, stimulating pent-up desires. What has your intuition been telling you recently? If you suspect you should let go of a relationship or something that no longer satisfies your soul, chances are you’re ready. On January 30th, a sun-Uranus spat suggests your home life or your mood could change on a dime and affect your behavior. Deal with what’s going on in your family, in your living space or inside you before you try to get back to doing your thing. This is only a temporary challenge, and you’re capable of rising to the occasion. The new moon in your sign on January 31 beckons you to make a fresh start. No worries if you didn’t make New Year’s resolutions or you already let them slide. This is the beginning of your new year. Make it count!

THE YEAR AHEAD:

The moon’s north node settles into your 4th house on January 18th, emphasizing home and family for the next 18 months. You’ll derive comfort, security and support from your family of origin, the people you live with and your abode itself. Turn to them when you’re in need, carve out alone time and don’t shortchange your private life in pursuit of professional success. A happy home will sustain you this year.

PISCES

February 19–March 20

Thanks to the sun in your network zone syncing with Uranus in your thinking-and-talking corner on the first day of the year, you can convey your original ideas to other people and come off brilliantly. And conversely, other people can open your mind to new ways of looking at life. You’re likely to be busier than expected today, exchanging information and interacting with friends and peers. On the 5th, Venus — who is backpedaling through your humanity zone — harmonizes with Neptune in Pisces. You might reconnect with old friends and team up on a creative collaboration or just relish each other’s company. Either has the power to soothe your soul under the influence of this healing planetary combo. When Mars provokes Neptune in your sign on the 11th, self-deception or self-doubt might drag you off-course in your pursuit of a goal. Or you could feel like your endeavors are being overlooked or misconstrued. If your heart’s not in it, don’t push yourself to do something. Take a break if you’re worn out. You don’t have to keep going, going, going in order to be enough. You’re already enough! With Mercury going off the grid at the end of your chart on January 14th, you’re due to turn your attention inward and get more info from dreams, memories, intuitive inklings and buried emotions than from the outside world. Don’t force communication; tune out the noise and tune into your soul. On the 16th, a sun-Pluto encounter can help you to connect with power players, so do some networking online or email potential contacts and mentors. You could also get more serious about a tech project now. Uranus does a U-turn on January 18, which could trigger impatience and anxiety when the thoughts swirling around in the back of your head pick up speed. But you’re almost sure to gain fresh perspective if you share what’s on your mind and solicit feedback. On the 24th, Mars charges into your humanity house, rallying the troops for productive teamwork. Look around for others who share your goals and interests and band together instead of competing against each other. For the next six weeks, cooperation is the name of the game — so find people you can work with! Participating in physical group activities like sports would be another good use of this energy. After Mercury backs into your network zone on the 25th, you might reconnect with old friends and contacts in the next week or two. You could also rethink a new dream or review your various ties with groups. Steer clear of gossip, as misunderstandings are par for the course now. With Venus resuming forward motion on the 29th, a desire to get together with people resurges, and you’ll gradually find it easier to connect. If you’ve felt cut off, you’ll start to get a better grasp on where you stand with a friend or group and who is on your squad versus who is merely an acquaintance. On January 30th, a sun-Uranus dustup can trigger unconscious communication, reminding you to err on the side of not saying too much. If someone annoys you with their bluntness, press pause rather than reacting in the moment. Your thoughts aren’t fully formed, and speaking off the cuff can backfire.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

On January 18th, the lunar north node enters your 3rd house, encouraging curiosity and learning in the year and a half that follows. Intellectual pursuits are favored, but avoid reaching a point where you think you’ve found The Answer. Make contacts in your community and turn to neighbors and siblings for support. Take advantage of opportunities to travel, even if a trip is more a change of scene than a big journey. An active mind and the stimulating pace of daily life will gratify you.

ARIES

March 21–April 19

When the sun at the peak of your chart clicks with Uranus on the first day of 2022, you can shine in public and experience a surge of self-confidence. You might keep a higher profile than you normally would on New Year’s Day. Make a contribution that impresses others and helps you feel good about what you have to offer. Your ruler, Mars, is driving you to take chances in order to broaden your horizons. But his tiff with Neptune on the 11th hints that even fiery Rams can have bouts of melancholy and doubt. Instead of barreling full steam ahead that day, focus on action that has maximum meaning for you. And if there’s a nagging fear in the back of your head, confront it; don’t throw in the towel. When Mercury goes retrograde in your humanity house on January 14th, brace yourself for crossed wires in your squad and other groups; back up all your devices; and put off buying tech. And don’t engage in gossip. Do reconnect with an old pal or coworker and ponder who you want on your team. Social media is sure to serve up drama, so practice good netiquette and don’t waste your breath clapping back at trolls. The sun and Pluto coalesce in your ambition angle on the 16th, empowering you to wow higher-ups if you check your ego at the door and let your passion shine through. Don’t sleep on this once-a-year chance to align with the forces of change in your career or overall life direction, even if it is a Sunday! You’re not supposed to take the easy way out now. This is a time for blazing a trail that speaks to your soul. With Uranus powering forward on the 18th, you may need to remind yourself that you’re capable of riding out ups and downs in your confidence, finances and other resources, especially if you’re feeling insecure. On January 24th, Mars ascends to your achievement angle, revving up your ambition for the next six weeks. The more closely you identify with an objective, the more driven you’ll be to achieve it. If possible, work independently on endeavors that matter to you. Mars isn’t keen on answering to authority — another good reason to pick your own projects. If you do have to cooperate with coworkers or check in with a boss, be sure to choose your battles. Mercury reverses into that angle on the 25th, complicating career planning and communication with authority figures and also making it harder for you to articulate your objectives. Thankfully, once Venus restarts her engine on January 29th, it won’t seem quite as hard to make a good impression (wordlessly) on higher-ups and shine in your career or in public. It’s important to you to cultivate a certain reputation, but while the social planet was backtracking, you may not have felt like you were seen in the best light possible. And if your heart wasn’t in certain goals, the retrograde probably led you to question the direction you’ve been heading in. A sun-Uranus clash on the 30th indicates that your confidence might waver due to peer pressure, or your personal values might deviate from group interests. Don’t compare yourself to others! Recognize that everyone has unique qualities and deficits. Be open to the idea of bending a little, but stay true to yourself.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

On January 18th, the lunar north node enters your 2nd house for an 18-month stay. Let go of dependence on outside resources and support so you can build self-sufficiency. Seize opportunities to earn what you need. Concentrating on your growing ability to take care of yourself will make you feel more secure and less worried about what others might provide. Make full use of everything you have going for you, including natural talents. Decide what’s most valuable to you, and prioritize accordingly.

TAURUS

April 20–May 20

The year starts off with a confab on the 1st between the sun in your expansion zone and Uranus in Taurus that inspires you to seek out learning experiences — ones that will help you to keep redefining your persona and your relationship to the world. You can attain a liberating level of awareness, but only if you shun sameness and explore the unfamiliar in the name of broadening your mind. Your heightened perception can change you, so chase after new truths that strike a chord. When Mars gets into trouble with Neptune on the 11th, sex or sharing could muddy the waters in a friendship. Don’t dive in headfirst, because you’re probably not seeing the big picture. If you’re involved in a collaboration, do your due diligence, and don’t commit to anything that could tie your hands later on. On the flipside, if you’re plugging away by yourself at something that’s meaningful to you, don’t let a lack of support deter you. Mercury goes rogue at the top of your chart on January 14th, complicating communication with authority figures. Watch your tone and reassess your goals rather than publicizing them. You might revise a business plan or rethink your career path in the coming weeks so they suit your current circumstances and identity better. The sun’s meetup with Pluto on the 16th can bring a powerful experience that transforms you and how you see the world. Again, go the extra mile by doing things that feel like a stretch for you, and you’ll grow as a result. You’ll never find out what you’re made of — and what exciting opportunities life has in store for you — if you play it safe. Due to Uranus’s direct turn on January 18th, you might be tempted to jump into action that day. But things don’t have to happen as fast as it feels like they should. Ride the wave of excitement without making yourself anxious. On January 24th, Mars rockets into your exploration corner, doubling down on the theme of not playing it too safe. In the next six weeks, you might take a trip, fight for what you believe in and engage in daunting physical activities — like taking snowboard lessons when you’re afraid of heights. While it’s admirable to stand up for your principles, Mars can tempt you to bash people over the head with your personal opinions. Stay off the soapbox unless you’re sure you’re representing a worthy cause. Mercury backs into that corner the next day, after which you might edit something for publication; review a subject you already studied; reconsider your beliefs and opinions; and try to regain perspective. Ride out delays and detours when traveling. Revisiting a place may prove easier than going somewhere for the first time. After Venus does an about-face on January 29th, your outlook will brighten and you’ll feel more invested in new people and pleasures. Your wanderlust could really kick in now, or you might crave other kinds of mind-broadening experience. Since the sun is arguing with Uranus on the 30th, you should try to keep your impulses in check. Resist the urge to rebel against a boss or bureaucracy. You might be tempted to break rules to gain more freedom. Don’t make yourself crazy trying to rush success. Your individuality can be an asset and a liability now; use it to stand out, not to game the system.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

The north node of the moon enters your sign on January 18th, where it will remain until July 17, 2023. During this time, you’ll make beneficial connections that bring opportunities into your life. People will turn to you as a leader; you’ll have more confidence and receive increased recognition. Express your uniqueness and be strong for others as well. Some relationships could end in the next year and a half, as you’re pushed to relinquish dependence and grow as an individual.

GEMINI

May 21–June 20

When the sun in your depth sector harmonizes with Uranus in your spirit corner on the first day of the year, intimacy could be emotionally liberating, thanks to your private rebellious streak. Introspection can provide insights into your subconscious, ultimately helping you to change on a subtle level. Shine a light on hidden matters and deal with them with as much emotional intelligence as you can muster. You might be inclined toward psychotherapy now. On the 11th, a fight between Mars and Neptune can point to a conflict in a close relationship over where things are headed. It won’t be easy to settle the problem via a confrontation. Press pause to clear your head, and avoid projecting your frustration onto another person. On the 14th, your ruler, Mercury, begins backtracking, calling for you to evaluate your opinions and beliefs. Weed out prejudices and seek fresh perspective. Wait a beat before sharing your POV, as muddled debates are par for the course. Be patient with travel and education-related snags. You’ll have more luck revisiting a place and relearning something. The sun mingles with Pluto on January 16th, motivating you to dig down deep to unearth the buried treasure in a close bond or your own psyche. You could discover something profound that changes you — so resist the temptation to skim the surface. Get your hands dirty! With Uranus pivoting forward on the 18th, its five-month retrograde phase in your subliminal sector comes to an end. This change in direction can trigger an urge to do something subversive and possibly self-sabotaging. We’re all tempted to rock the boat when the planet of rebellion acts up. On January 24th, Mars segues into your depth-and-merging house, nudging you to invest even more in a collaboration or explore your private emotions in an effort to turn a corner and change. Research, investigation and passion projects will also be productive over the course of the next month and a half, as you’re meant to dig in intently. If you’re in a committed relationship, joint resources and sharing in general could be a source of strife, but they’re also what you can work on together. Walk your talk when it comes to give-and-take. After Mercury reverses into that sector, you might try turning some of your attention to a sticky financial issue or a specific psychological hurdle like a wound, obsession or loss. If your mind drifts to a past lover, keep in mind that reconnection can get complicated. Fortunately, Venus will resume forward motion on the 29th, after which closeness won’t feel quite so hard to come by. You’ll gradually feel your passion returning as Venus gets up to speed. If you’ve been waiting for outside money like a loan or grant to come through, the next couple of weeks should ease cash flow. On the 30th, the sun in your exploration realm feuds with Uranus, signaling that a subconscious impulse could catch you by surprise and go against your own best interest. You might give up on a new experience prematurely out of fear, thus sabotaging your growth. You’re meant to be waking up and shaking things up, so keep moving towards what you don’t know, even if that requires some zigging and zagging.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

On January 18th, the lunar north node slips into your 12th house for an 18-month retreat. This is a period for internal growth when you’re meant to nurture your inner life while trying not to get too caught up in the outer world of work and everyday busyness. Prioritize solitude, reflection, peace and spirituality. Forgiveness and other forms of closure will be healing. Develop your intuition and imagination. Don’t underestimate the power of the subconscious.

CANCER

June 21–July 22

The sun in your one-on-one angle dovetails with Uranus in your network sector on New Year’s Day, encouraging you to seek out the company of other people, even if you socialized plenty the night before. You might meet someone new, and any bond that’s forged now is likely to be based on friendship — even if the relationship is a romantic one. Spending time with people you have something in common with will be gratifying. When Mars squares off with Neptune on the 11th, you’re likely to lose some momentum and question the meaning behind the hard work you’re putting in. Maybe you’re determined to accomplish things in a very specific way, but part of you wants to drift and go on faith. Don’t make it a matter of either/or. It’s a yellow light, so slow down and wait for a clearer path. After Mercury reverses course on January 14th, communication in an intimate relationship becomes more challenging. You might find yourself reflecting on a loss or reminiscing about an old lover. Protect any info you want to keep private. Revive an investigation. Search your psyche for nuggets of truth. A sun-Pluto mashup on the 16th also encourages deep reflection on your bonds and challenges you to change what needs to be changed. You might get into a power struggle or encounter someone who has a profound effect on you. You can see what’s really going on — and how to repair damage if you’re so inclined. The full moon of January 17th lands in Cancer, giving you full permission to put your own needs first instead of taking care of everyone around you. If you’re flooded with feels, alone time and healthy escapes can soothe your soul. With Uranus finishing up its five-month retrograde period on the 18th, you could get rather impatient with people’s quirks and shortcomings. If you have an impulse to cut ties with a group or break up with a friend, your instincts may be right, but you don’t need to act on them right this second. After Mars crosses your interpersonal angle on January 24th, partnership is the most productive route to take. Whatever you want to accomplish, two is better than one in the six weeks that follow. If you’ve glossed over grievances, this is the time to hash things out. Conflict can be healthy and constructive if you choose your battles well and fight fair. However, Mercury backs into that angle on the 25th, increasing the odds of misunderstandings. You could wind up revisiting a past conflict; rather than belaboring old points, make better use of this time by contemplating relationships and perhaps rethinking the terms of one. Once Venus finally edges forward on January 29th, everyone will start to seem more agreeable and engaged. Soon it will be easier to strike compromises and clear up interpersonal issues — and perhaps get a significant relationship back on track if it’s faltered recently. The sun’s spat with Uranus on the 30th indicates that a sudden need for personal space might trigger jealousy or mistrust. You may have an urge to lighten things up and spend time apart from a significant other, hanging with your friends separately. See if you can switch gears without sacrificing the benefits of in-depth focus. Try taking brief breaks from intense intimacy or a passion project you’ve been preoccupied with.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

After the lunar node arrives in your 11th house on January 18th, growth and opportunities come through groups like a close circle of friends, your extended squad, organizations you belong to and your network of contacts, colleagues, peers and acquaintances. Changes in your affiliations will be for the better. Humanitarian endeavors and teamwork will thrive. The pursuit of purely personal pleasure and fulfillment may seem less fruitful in the next 18 months.

LEO

July 23–August 22

On January 1st, the sun’s alliance with Uranus in your ambition angle favors working towards a goal and making progress in your career, even though this is traditionally a day for rest. Aim to be useful, organized and responsible. Doing what’s in front of you to the best of your ability may open up new opportunities or earn you more freedom. On the 11th, a Mars-Neptune skirmish emboldens you to take a gamble and go after what you want, but the outcome is TBD. Avoid financial risks for the time being. If you pursue someone you’re attracted to, don’t get too attached to a specific response. Do what pleases you because it pleases you, not to get a result that hinges on another person. Mercury goes rogue on January 14th, jamming the signals between you and other individuals. Avoid jumping to conclusions, and give people the benefit of the doubt. Rehashing old arguments might not foster mutual understanding. But reviewing your relationships and agreements with others — spoken and unspoken — will be worthwhile. A sun-Pluto summit on January 16th can give you lots of willpower to stick with what you’re doing. This can be a very productive transit, as long as you don’t let a compulsion for control lead you to burn out. Funnel your energy into solving problems related to work, health, time management and anything impacting the quality and productivity of everyday life. Is it time to change your diet, fitness routine, job or schedule? You can get to the bottom of what’s not working now. On the 18th, Uranus does an about face at the top of your chart, bringing his months-long retrograde to a close. Now you’ll be even more eager to make headway in your career or to switch directions and set off on a different path. Change is in the air, but don’t make any crazy moves just yet. Mars moves into your efficiency zone on the 24th and sets up camp there for the next six weeks, motivating you to get tons done. You should have sufficient energy to tackle much of what’s on your plate and will take pride in working hard. Your drive could be off-putting to coworkers, so try to operate solo to the extent that you can. This planetary placement blends usefulness and ego gratification — and not always so smoothly! If you get stressed out, rigorous workouts will help you to blow off steam. After Mercury backs into that zone on the 25th, however, mix-ups at work and scheduling snafus are to be expected, and details could get overlooked. In the next week or two, you might try revising your to-do list, researching jobs, reviewing your habits, reorganizing your workspace, taking stock of your health and considering alternate approaches. Thankfully, Venus is getting back on course in the same part of your chart on January 29th, allowing you to take more pleasure in your work and other daily doings. You’ll slowly start to feel more invested in your efforts and more satisfied with the quality of your life. If you’ve had any realizations about how you spend your time, you might tweak your routine going forward. On the 30th, the sun is at odds with Uranus, which will make it difficult to see eye to eye on goals. One party might be itching for more autonomy or balking under the thumb of authority. This too shall pass!

THE YEAR AHEAD:

The lunar north node ascends to your 10th house on January 18th, setting up shop there for the next 18 months. You’ll benefit from professional and public opportunities and are likely to enjoy good relations with authority figures. But you could have trouble balancing home and work; you’re apt to put more energy into pursuing goals if your family or living situation are stressing you out or not providing pleasure.

VIRGO

August 23–September 22

The sun in your fulfillment realm joins forces with Uranus in your exploration corner on the very first day of 2022, facilitating pleasurable experiences that expand your consciousness. Your growing awareness of the world can feed your creativity — and on the flipside, expressing yourself can change your outlook. Simply feeling loving and happy can liberate you today and allow you to view the future differently. Pursue unfamiliar pleasures and adventures in a quest for personal growth. On the 11th, Mars at the base of your chart battles Neptune in your relationship angle. Underlying irritability could get you into an argument that goes nowhere, so keep your mood in check and don’t feel guilty if you need some time alone to chill out. Someone may confuse you or let you down, but getting a handle on your own feelings will probably be a better use of your energy than confronting that person now. With your ruling planet, Mercury, beginning to backspin on January 14th, you’re liable to overlook details and might need to correct yourself later. Edit yourself at work, as crossed wires at the office are common now. The hidden bonus? This is an ideal time to relearn a skill, reapply for a job, revise your work, revamp your routine and research a health matter. On the 16th, the sun and Pluto meet up, intensifying pleasure and daring you not to settle for anything less than deep personal fulfillment. Creative pursuits, romance and other routes to happiness and love feel super important now. Obsession could build, and it won’t be easy to rein it in. Be true to yourself, but don’t treat everything like a matter of life and death. When Uranus powers forward in your exploration zone on January 18th, it may seem like reality isn’t quite what you thought it was and you should hurry to adopt a totally new and improved outlook. But waking up can be jarring, so don’t rush to judgment. You weren’t wrong about everything! On the 24th, Mars zooms into your joy sector, where he’ll be hanging out for the next six weeks, mobilizing you to get out and have some fun. This is your cue to be bolder in pursuing what your heart wants. You’re brave enough to take risks under this influence. And you’re much more inclined to do as you please than to tackle unpleasant tasks. Sports and sex are both good uses of this expressive, physical energy. After Mercury reverses into your fulfillment realm on the 25th, conveying your personality, feelings and humor will seem like more of a gamble. In the next week or two, you could reread for pleasure, rediscover a hobby and reminisce about a past love. Venus finally moves forward in that part of your chart on January 29th, reviving your creativity and love life and putting pure joy within your reach. Leisure time takes on added importance now; give yourself permission to play! On the 30th, the sun’s run-in with Uranus indicates that your attention span will reach its limit, at which point you’re sure to get distracted and need time off. Overwork can backfire if you’re so stressed and tired that you’re no longer productive. Take a break before you desperately need it.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

After the moon’s north node segues into your 9th house on January 18th, you can grow over the course of the next 18 months by exploring foreign beliefs, cultures and places; taking risks in a quest to learn; broadening our horizons; thinking abstractly; searching for meaning and truth; piecing together the big picture; cultivating faith; envisioning the future; and becoming more aware of the wide world. Don’t get too hung up on trivial information, literal perceptions and logic.

LIBRA

September 23–October 22

When the sun in your foundation angle vibes with Uranus in your depth sector on New Year’s Day, spending time at home with another person could make you feel surprisingly close to him or her, and talking to a family member about the past can be cathartic. You might also opt to spend time alone, contemplating emotions and memories; doing so is liable to lead to psychological insight and progress. A sun-Venus rendezvous on January 8th can inspire you to host a party or attend a family gathering, but since Venus is retrograde, things probably won’t come together seamlessly. Proactive Mars is pushing you to assert yourself, be more direct with people and advocate for your ideas while he marches through your thinking-and-talking corner. But his melee with Neptune on the 11th could lead you to forget key details or hear crickets from colleagues in response to your impassioned pitch. Slow down and consider your words carefully. Don’t jump to conclusions when you don’t have all the facts. On January 14th, Mercury pivots retrograde in your joy province, which could leave you tongue-tied when speaking from the heart. In the next week and a half, you might revise a piece of creative writing, reread something for pleasure, rediscover an old source of fun and reevaluate what fulfills you. On the 16th, a sun-Pluto conjunction at the base of your chart is bound to bring out all the feels and make it difficult for you to stay on the even keel that Libras prefer. Recognize the power of your emotions, and look for a healthy outlet for them. A major shift that enables you to move away from your backstory is possible. With Uranus resuming forward motion on January 18th after traveling retrograde since August, you might become a bit anxious over getting what you need from someone. Luckily, the urgency isn’t as real as it feels. On the 24th, Mars sneaks down to the base of your chart, which can impact the next six weeks in a few ways. You may get super busy around the house, tackling a domestic project, working from home or teaming up with your family or roommates. Your behavior can take on an emotional — possibly compulsive — tinge, causing petty battles. Try to stay in touch with your underlying mood to avoid needless conflicts. After Mercury backslides into that same zone, your mind will drift back over the past, and you might start rethinking your living situation. Take a walk down memory lane in search of fresh insights and consider reconnecting with a relative with whom you’ve lost touch. With your ruling planet, Venus, edging forward on January 29th, your mood should improve, and your relations with family and roomies will hopefully follow suit. If you’ve been mulling over your décor, you’ll soon have more confidence in your aesthetic judgment. When the sun quibbles with Uranus the next day, you can’t expect others to be on the same page with you. Don’t put too much pressure on a response. Just be you, and if another person doesn’t seem to get you, that’s okay. You can only play your role and allow others to play theirs. Your feelings belong to you; if someone doesn’t share the exact same ones, it’s because their feelings are uniquely theirs.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

With the entrance of the lunar north node in your 8th house on January 18th, you’ll benefit from outside resources such as loans and grants. Apply for the support you need, and you stand a good chance of getting it. Sharing, psychological growth and emotional excavation are favored over self-sufficiency, materialism and a focus on personal needs. Insecurity and fears around intimacy may need to be overcome.

SCORPIO

October 23–November 21

Harmony between the sun and Uranus on January 1st makes it easy for you to form new connections and share ideas that can impact others’ lives. Pair up with forward-thinking individuals in order to spread an important message and effect change. You’re probably a bit restless, and reaching out to proponents of progress will suit your current energy. With the sun and Venus linking up in your thinking-and-talking province on the 8th, you’re able to appreciate beauty in your environment and articulate positive feelings. Because Venus is backtracking at the moment, relating can still seem off, though. So try not to get too hung up on reciprocation. On the 11th, a Mars-Neptune conflict alludes to a hasty financial move driven by the promise of pleasure. Avoid impulsive splurges, as they’re likely to result in buyer’s remorse. If you notice a negative correlation between your love life and self-worth, tell yourself not to force the issue. You may be putting someone on a pedestal and selling yourself short. Mercury spins retrograde on the 14th, sending you on a trip down memory lane in your head and scrambling signals on the home front. You might rethink your living situation, reconnect with family and ruminate on private feelings. If you feel misunderstood when trying to put your emotions into words, stick to introspection for now or speak to a healing professional like a therapist. Your ruling planet, Pluto, has a conference with the sun on January 16th that reinforces the theme of deep thinking. Dig into core issues. What you uncover in the dark corners of your mind can transform your entire mentality. You might get into a conversation that encourages such a mental shift, and you could also meet someone who has a big influence on your mindset or your views. When Uranus does a 180° on the 18th after backtracking for the past five months, other individuals are bound to throw you some curveballs, and you might lose patience. Try to stay out of reaction mode; use reason and language to deal with whatever comes up. Mars zooms into your cognition-and-communication realm on January 24th, daring you to speak up for yourself and pitch your ideas. Your brain and your self-expression will be quite charged for the next six weeks, so you’ll be up for challenging intellectual work and will have dynamic interactions. However, after Mercury backslides into that part of your chart on the 25th, you’ll need to be extra patient with crossed wires and travel difficulties. Reconnect with a sibling or neighbor, review info, revisit a nearby place or rewrite something. With Venus pivoting direct on January 29th, it will soon be easier to get along with people and express your affection. Trying to put your desires into words but struggling to connect? Venus’s reversal is a welcome development. On the 30th, the sun feuds with Uranus, hinting that you can’t predict a person’s response or behavior and shouldn’t try to. If someone catches you off-guard, don’t take it personally and overreact. If you have to confront someone, do what you need to do. But be sure you’re not responding based on projection.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

Remember that no man is an island, Scorpio. On January 18th, the moon’s south node enters your sign, where it will remain until July 17, 2023. Insisting on operating independently can have a draining effect, keeping you in an endless loop that fails to bring satisfaction. You don’t want to feel needy and dependent, and yet the south node can help tamp down your ego. Recognize your limits and lean on others when going it alone isn’t working. If you turn to people for support, you’re likely to receive it. The north node in your relationship angle says your path of growth most definitely involves other individuals!

SAGITTARIUS

November 22–December 21

On the first day of 2022, a meeting between the sun in your worth house and Uranus in your efficiency corner makes it easier for you to focus on personal values and priorities and make pertinent changes in your daily life. You can also use your assets to accomplish something that might entail progressive, independent work. New responsibilities may help you to augment your income, and tasks involving technology can be executed successfully. Mars in Sagittarius is motivating you to plow through your to-do list, but his scuffle with Neptune on January 11th will make it hard for you to take the emotional temperature around you and know how to proceed. Part of you could be fired up to tackle everything on your agenda, and then you realize what you really need is a day off to relax at home. Be sure you’re getting enough water, healthy food, sleep and downtime to recharge your battery. Don’t ignore what your intuition or your mood are telling you, even if that means losing momentum temporarily. On the 14th, Mercury’s retrograde turn can tie up communication and travel, so put off signing paperwork, having important talks and making big decisions. A rendezvous between the sun and Pluto on January 16th can help you turn a financial corner, maybe by changing how you earn a living or shifting your relationship with money and things. Questioning what you’re attached to and why can empower you to overcome old fears of lack or loss. As Uranus gets back into gear on January 18th, a mundane source of stress like a job situation or health issue may pop up, and you probably won’t feel like you have control over the circumstances. You’re excited to make progress but still need to be flexible enough to accommodate whatever reality you’re faced with. Starting on the 24th, Mars will exit Sag and set up shop in your worth house for the next six weeks, prompting you to deal proactively with your finances and possessions. Try to make good use of your assets (including your talents and tools) in order to accomplish tasks. But avoid getting defensive over what’s yours. That includes both your belongings and your personal values. Mercury backs into that house on the 25th, calling for you to ask yourself what’s most important to you. Are you satisfied with how you’re earning a living? What do you base your self-esteem on? Are you making the most of your innate gifts? Are you living by your core values? How can you become more self-sufficient and fiscally secure? If you’re tempted to splurge on something, consider whether you need it or want it. If the answer is want, what deeper desire do you expect it to fulfill? On the 29th, Venus inches forward there, allowing money to flow more freely, and you shouldn’t have as much difficulty tapping into your resources. The next day, a clash between the sun and Uranus can divert your focus and compel you to change gears — for instance, if work, health or circumstances spring a surprise on you once again. Don’t stress if life doesn’t go according to plan. You’ve been tweaking the everyday systems that enable you to function, and they should have some wiggle room.

THE YEAR AHEAD:

With the lunar south node leaving Sagittarius on January 18th, you’ll start to feel more capable of standing on your own two feet. At the same time, the north node enters your 6th house for an 18-month stay. You may be tempted to overdo escapism and get lost in spirituality, imagination and dreams. Keep yourself grounded by exercising sound judgment and maintaining a strong work ethic, a regular routine and a healthy diet and exercise regimen.
