GREEN LIGHT
The Perfect Green For Your Skin Tone
By: Jules Boyd
This spring, green means go…for outfitting, that is.
A few months ago, I talked to a friend about how I adore wearing green. It’s my favorite “almost neutral” color, the one I gravitate towards when I’m not eyeing a style in my usual black or tan. (This probably has to do with the fact that there are so many shades of green that FP does so well.) My friend’s response?
“I never wear green. I don’t think I even own an article of green clothing — it looks terrible on me.”
As someone who considers almost every shade of green to be universally flattering, I was a little shocked. How could you not also adore the color I’m so deeply devoted to? Now, I may be biased, but I’m here to tell you that yes, you can wear green, and we’re going to break it down by skin tones and undertones to best decide which shade is right for you. I promise you’ll find the perfect green — whether that be a go-to spring staple or a fun pop of color throughout the year.

WARM IT UP
If you look at green on the color wheel, you’ll find that it sits between yellow and blue; a warm tone and a cool tone. If you have warm undertones, i.e. peach, olive, chestnut, etc., you’ll likely find that colors such as olives and limes look best on you. A classic Kelly Green, like the Emory Embroidered Midi Dress, in my opinion, compliments everyone. Looking for something a little less bright? Our tried-and-true Good Luck Barrel Jeans come in a perfectly subtle pistachio. We can’t forget our lime stunner, the Onda Drop-Waist Tube Mini, or a classic olive We The Free High Roller Jumpsuit..
COOL IT DOWN
Now for the opposite side of the spectrum: for cooler undertones, such as porcelain, honey, or espresso, you should gravitate towards greens with a hint of blue. Our Be My Baby Long Sleeve comes in the perfect bluish mint for that timeless frosty look, while our romantic Mckenna Velvet Midi Dress is the perfect shade of emerald with a floral pop for added dimension. Something in between? The Hailee Sweater Jumper in a classic pine, or our sporty-meets-everyday Bay To Breakers Pant. Can you think of a better way to get your greens in?
FINISH IT OFF
…And alllll the green accessories for that totally tonal look:
Not ready to fully commit to a green ‘fit? Or want to mix and match a few shades? Of course, we couldn’t forget the extras. Add the perfect pop of green with our top-rated The Idle Hands Sling, a minty cool finishing touch with the Harbor Flatform Sandals or Thea Round Sunnies, or dress up your tresses with the Marly Barrettes.

So, whether you’re looking to branch out of your go-to neutrals or, like myself, want to expand your green wardrobe in every way you can, look no further. And if you’re saying to yourself, “I don’t even have a single green item of clothing to my name,” what better way to start spring than with the color of new growth and a little luck?
