Picture this: It’s fall, 2009. Elena Gilbert of the Vampire Diaries is your fashion icon, Starbucks still has that cozy, whimsical flair, and you’re layering three shirts just because you can.
Okay—so we can’t bring everything back in the name of nostalgia. But one thing we can? Big, slouchy, luggage-style bags. In fact, they’re on our trend radar for fall, especially with the resurgence of boho styling and early 2010s outfitting. Gone are the days of micro mini purses that can fit half of your phone and a single chickpea.
We’re talking BIG. Lots of hardware. Tons of pockets. Real estate for (multiple) bag charms. We’re throwing in our laptops, lunch boxes, and novels we said we’d start but mainly tote around for aesthetic purposes. We’re bringing 2009 back in the best way. Luckily for us, FP has what we need. A selection that adds just the right touch of contemporary flair. Ready to find your new favorite bag?

IT’S IN THE BAG
We’re Bringing 2009’s Slouchy Bags Back

Go big. Or go bigger.
FIRST UP: OUR BIGGEST BAG FOR FALL…AND POSSIBLY EVER
Allow us to introduce our newest, biggest bag of the moment…the Shoreditch Shoulder Bag. Buttery soft leather. A sleek, elevated buckle flap. Big enough in size to fit everything you need (and probably don’t need) at a moment’s notice. We genuinely think you could fit a computer monitor or perhaps a coffee pot in here, should you need to.
The shoulder strap keeps the bag from feeling too oversized and helps maintain its shape. The interior pockets are deep enough for your work or campus necessities, like cords, wallets, keys, etc., while the main compartment can absolutely fit a 15” laptop or smaller. It’s even spacious enough to fit our original Palermo, which we’ll talk about a little later.
If you need something BIG, Shoreditch is the answer.

What To Put Inside (or Outside!)
NEXT: THE DAY-TO-NIGHT BAG THAT FITS EVERYTHING
Okay, so you need something large, but don’t need to fit kitchen appliances inside of it—heard. The Weho Slouchy Tote is top-rated for a reason. With its long shoulder strap drop (perfect for when you’ve piled on those bulky fall layers) and modern east-west silhouette, the Weho is a Team FP staple. It’s slim, but still wide enough to fit necessities like your notebooks, novels, sunglasses, maybe even a small dog. The exterior drop pockets can also accommodate a medium-sized water bottle, perfect for those who can’t live without theirs.
If you want that oversized look, but still want to take everything you need with you on a night out, this is for you.

FINALLY: THE ALL-IN-ONE BAG
This is the smallest option of the three, but that certainly doesn’t mean less spacious or functional. In fact, we couldn’t believe the number of compartments and pockets that the Palermo Suede Shoulder Bag has—six, not including the main interior. The stash pockets at the side are perfect for things like earbuds, keys, loose change, love notes…you get it. The oversized envelope at the front could easily fit a small notebook or other flat objects, and the main body is perfect for a tablet, sketchbook, and plush toys, among other necessities.
The shape of the bag reminds us of an updated camera-like design; compact and boxy, but deceivingly small in the sense that you somehow fit everything you need in there.
Love the shape, but still looking for something bigger? Don’t worry, the original Palermo has a big sister in the Oversized Palermo Suede Shoulder Bag. She’s the same exact shape and design, but large enough for a laptop, binder, and everything else you need to tote for your commute. .
