Which all began with an email, from Barb…

That very same day, albeit a few hours later, I passed this email onto our Chief Creative Director.

Though admittedly we receive a vast number and array of requests, Barb’s struck me as one that the team just might be interested in learning about. And, believing the same as me, Ana sent Barb’s email onto our Intimately FP team for their review.

On the very next day, January 26th, I received this email from Assistant Design Director, Emma:

“I’m here for it!” chimed in Apeksha, one of our designers.

Barb was then told to keep an eye out. To which she replied, and suggested:

“Not tight like tights. Just narrow, almost like loose skinny jeans...
so obvi it’s all about the fabric content and how it behaves... but FP Knows That Drill!”

And so it went. Design took Barb’s request to heart. And I went back to the typical ins and outs of the workweek. Until March 31st. When I received an email from Emma, simply titled “IT’S HAPPENING.” The Hey Barb Lace Jogger made its way through Buy Review, and was going to head to production, with an arrival date in late summer. Which is now. Meaning today.

Barb and I continued corresponding during this time -- about shopping and how clothes hold the potential to make you feel really good about yourself. A little about the USPS. But consequently, and more importantly, we struck up a friendship. Something that doesn’t happen too often at the corporate level, if only because the opportunity to converse with our customers doesn’t present itself too often.

Just two weeks ago, on August 6th, Barb met the Intimately design team and me via Zoom. We spent 45 minutes talking about our careers, interests, finances, families and loves. And the best part? We all considered it A highlight. Of the day, week… maybe in Life.

So, Hey Barb! And thank you. Thank Barb each time you pull out these “not tight like tights” lacy joggers and put them on. Because a pant by any other name just wouldn’t be the same.
