how-to-wear-bandeau

Made from upcycled block prints

Back in March, when I started working from home full-time, I turned to one thing to get me through:

Sewing.

Just as baking serves as therapy for many people, watching a needle and thread rhythmically shape my fabric became mine. It was my meditation, and still is.

And in those moments of quiet came the idea for a bandeau… The Summer of Love Convertible Bandeau, to be specific.

My at-home summer attire is usually a tube top and either casual pants or a flowy skirt. I love letting my shoulders breathe, so I was just craving something simple but yet fun. So the bandeau, made from upcycled block printed sheets, was a perfect add.

There are so many ways you can wear this bandeau, which makes it so endearing and versatile. And, bonus: it comes with a matching pouch so you can take it with you anywhere!

Here are some outfits to try:

This summer, I crossed my bandeau straps at the front to create a halter shape, which created a little keyhole detail and some added interest. Now as the summer heat is fading slightly, I’m wearing it as a one-shoulder tube, layered under an oversized shirt, with my favorite 501 Levis.
On warmer days, I reversed the bandeau to show its inside border print. (Yes, it’s reversible, too!) I wore it as a deep V halter and tied the straps at the front, teamed it with high waisted shorts for a backyard dinner date. For Fall days, I’m wearing it with a cozy knit, high waisted skirt and some gold heels. It’s hard not to want to wear it multiple days a week.
And as an extra love note, this bandeau’s tag, complete with an origin story and styling options, is made from wildflower seeded paper. When you are done with the tag, plant it in soil and watch the wildflowers grow. Creating yet another reason to pursue something that makes you happy and puts your mind at peace.
