Would give 5 starts but....
Love this dress perfect for hot weather. The fit is perfect a little big so it flows nicely. I'm 5'6" and 150 pounds and I purchased the medium. And paired it with a seamless romper. I was so excited when it came, and the first time I wore it I got several compliments within the first hour but into the second hour I noticed the dress had started unraveling and a hole developed. Sad that for the price it fell apart so quickly other than that loved the fabric, style and fit!!
colour not the best...?
I'm usually beyond impressed with Free People stuff compared with other online clothing stores - this is the first time I've thought I might have some info useful for a prospective buyer. I bought this kind of overlooking the colour description, and going off all the photos (the model, as well as the customer images), where it kind of seems ivory. It's not. It's really *tea coloured*. This is what I think has led other reviewers to be unable to conceive of it as anything other than a nightie. It looks like a Victorian night-dress, which has coloured with age. This may be what you're actually going for, but it didn't really flatter me. Otherwise, great fit (I'm a FP small and it was great), and great fabric. But yeah. TLDR: THIS ISN'T WHITE, take note of the tea
Nothing like the pictures
When I saw it online I fell in love, but it vanished right away when i got it in my hands. It's not as sofisticated and easy to wear like in the pictures. The color is not as white (almost beige instead of tea I must say) and it really make me look old. It looked like a vintage piece (with a lot of wear) and the neck it's not flattering at all. I returned it
I wish I had read the previous review before purchasing. This is a beautiful item, but try as I might, I could not style this in any way to make it look like anything but a nightgown. I tried boots, heels, belts, tights, unbuttoning...Nothing worked. :( It is wider and more crinkly than it appears in the FP photo. Sadly, I'll be sending it back.
fits true to size, where to wear?
This is a great quality piece; the material is of good quality and it's not too see through. You may even be able to get away with not wearing a slip. It does resemble nightgown attire though and I don't' know quite how to resolve this. I guess styling with a belt and jewelry may help. I also don't know where to wear this without looking like I'm parading around in my nightgown! It is a little overpriced given that it doesn't have a lining. I am curious to see more style pics to see how to make this piece work when wearing in public.
