About the Silversmith: Howard Begay was influenced by his grandfather and uncle and began working with copper at the age of 13. His specialty is traditional design with shank, wires and turquoise. He has been recognized numerous time for his beautiful jewelry designs. He is from Pinon, Arizona.

Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise

In 1941, the Navajo Council created the Navajo Tribe’s Arts and Crafts Guild, which then became the Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise (NACE) in 1972. NACE features handcrafted goods from Navajo artisans, jewelers and silversmiths. The Navajo Nation extends into the states of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico covering over 27,000 square miles. Navajo Nation is larger than 10 of the 50 states in America and has over 300,000 enrolled members.
