Victorian inspired luxe leather over-the-knee boots featuring a generous stacked heel. Easy to slip on and off with the adjustable tie.
1. They are not black! They are gray, so why not advertise them as such? 2. One has to loosen laces all the way to foot to take them off & that is a pain. 3. Soles are rather stiff as well as inside of shoe; hope they don't cause blisters! 4. They are as pictured and I like that. 5. Just got them and walked a couple blocks in them and had no issues, see #3. Conclusion: undecided, will have a better idea after wearing a few more times.
The inside lining is peeling off
I LOVE these boots. Can't say anything negative about them aside from the fact that the inside lining is peeling off and getting bunched up, causing my foot to stick to the bottom of the inside. I have only worn these boots three times so far and given the amount of money they are, I expected much better quality. I probably can't return them at this point, so it's kind of a bummer.... :(
Hi margauxflo, We're sorry to hear about your boots! Someone from our team will reach out soon. -Free People
Frustrating but Pretty
I checked a conversion chart before I ordered these. I am typically a size 7 in heels, sneakers, etc. but for some reason I wear a 6.5 in boots. The chart converted me to a size 37 Euro. I ordered two pairs of FP boots in a 37, one ran large, but these ran a little bit small. There were not uncomfortably tight, but my heel was right on the edge. The rest of the foot fit pretty well. The boots flare out a bit as they run up to the knee. I didn't see in the picture before ordering, but the laces are meant to tighten them up so that the leather folds over itself to achieve the look pictured. I found that the leather was so stiff that when folded, it LOOKED cheap (not to say it IS cheap). I could not get them to fold along a straight line as modeled in the third picture, nor could I get them as tight to pucker as modeled in the first picture. The color is as pictured (but I liked that) so more of a smoky gray than black. These are pretty victorian boots and I recommend trying them. I am just too obsessive to accept the crooked folding shape I was coming up with. Not for me, so they are going back.
Bought the Memphis boots in black. They are not really black however are true to the picture and are more a smoky grey. I've purchased lots of gear through Free People and expected they would not actually be black and I wasn't disappointed. I'm usually a 38 but I found with previously purchased boots from fp, some tend to run small. The 39 is pretty true to size I think and they are fine with thick socks. They look great with a longish skirt as pictured or with a mini dress or skirt. I wore them with a lace mini for dinner recently - my husband loved the look and I got lots of nice compliments. Although they don't have a zip I find the laces pretty easy to loosen and get my feet in and out without a trauma. I've just ordered them in the pink colour and can't wait till the weather cools down to wear them with leggings & jeans. Great boots indeed. Very happy.
These fit small calves
I just received these tonight in the color black. They are not all black. The toe portion is black and the rest of the boot is more of a charcoal gray. I already own Jeffrey Campbell Joe, Johnny and Jesse boots and wanted to add these since they looked different from those and have a heel. I do like these as they fit my 13" calves. However, I don't love these like I do my other boots. I wanted the Bordeaux color. But it sold out. I will say that all of those are of a better quality than these. I say that because of the material. The charcoal gray color is a different material or maybe is just super thin leather. Not sure. But if I had not gotten these in the Flash sale, I would be giving a 3 star review. Other information somebmay find helpful: I have narrow feet and they fit perfectly. All of the other boots I mentioned previously are all too big in that area and I have to wear thick socks. Typically in more expensive shoes I wear an 8.5 and others a 9 and this includes the boots I mentioned previously as well. I purchased this in a 39 (my European size always) and my toes are almost on the edge. I can't go any bigger because as I said I have a narrow foot and my heel already moves around. Last thing is they do not have a zipper and you HAVE to loosen the laces all the way down the leg to get them off, which sucks. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them or not. II typically only purchase and keep items I feel I can't live without lol. I don't feel that way about these. Since everyone has different taste, I would say to purchase and see for yourself. But I truly only recommend to narrow feet, small calves people (no more than 14" calves). Sorry. Oh, totally forgot I'm just under 5'8" and they are definitely lower on the leg than the model. Maybe an inch below the bottom of my knee.
