Overall Rating (10):

poor quality

This dress is really cute but It falls apart each time you wear it. I've worn it about 5 times and hand washed it once and its pretty much done. disappointed in a lot of free peoples clothes. For the price I should not be having these problems.

Ambivalent

  • Age: 21-25
  • Body-type: slender
  • Location: California

Height: 5'7" (171 cm) -- Measurements: 32-22-32 (81-55-81). Purchased in XS, color "black and white." This dress is very columnar and runs absolutely enormous. It's also semi-sheer; your undies will show though. But the details are very cute. An excellent, lightweight piece for hot weather.

I bought this dress in the rustic red color in the store. I loved it! i wore it to hawaii, but sadly after two wears i noticed that the seem started falling apart where the embrodery and the rest of the dress. I actually might sew it back together because i loved the dress so much.

Molly Slip

  • Age: over 45
  • Body-type: curvy

Bought slip in black/white & red/white. One sz med & one sz lg. not any difference as size goes between the two. Very very cute on & flattering on my body, however both have had the seams split at the embroidery. Both on the first wearing. I am really disappointed at the quality of free people items in the last couple of years from the clothing to jewelry to footwear. I spend too much money for clothing to have it fall apart on my body.

So sad ...

I love this slip, I bought the medium in black and it is definitely roomy but looks great with a slip under it. The sad part is the quality, mine also came apart at the seam where the body meets the top embroidery and a strap came unstitched ... all in the first wearing ... at a wedding. Thank goodness for girlfriends who carry safety pins!

Surprisingly Stylish

I took a chance ordering this slip in black, thinking it may be a bit too shapeless to be flattering. I purchased it to bring with me to the Maldives/Sri Lanka and received endless compliments on it everywhere (including CA where I live). I've since purchased it in 2 other colors. I've layered it with a slip underneath it and a leather satchel, which added some shape. It is lovely for travel, beach, dining. It's really quite darling. I haven't experienced an issue with quality of material, as I have with previous FP items.

Pretty embroidery but..

I got the blue and the black on sale recently. While I would typically wear a large (I'm a 38B), the medium worked better for me. Unlike the other reviewer, I'm able to wear this buttoned, the trick is you have to make sure the straps are the right length on you. These dresses ARE flimsy and a touch diaphanous, I found that a skirt slip addresses that. I'm talking you can tell the color of your undies if you wear this outside in the sunlight sans a slip. Beyond the chest band, there's loads of material and it can be a bit of a mumu. So far I've worn these unbelted and belted. My BF prefers it cinched but I think either way works. The embroidery is quite pretty and dainty, as are the column of tiny buttons. I got these on sale at an FP store, but had I purchased them for regular I'd have returned it already. I'm 5'1" and the length JUST barely works. I'm keeping mine for the summer, I also happen to live in a hippy-ish area so this won't look out of place :)

Cute but poor quality

  • Age: 26-30
  • Body-type: slender
  • Location: San Diego

The style and color were cute and what I expected when purchasing the dress. However the quality of the material was not. Not only is the dress completely see through to the point where I had to purchase a slip to wear underneath, but the dress started coming apart at the seams where the embordary is at the top the first time I wore it. Free people is one of my favorite designers, but for this dress the quality is not worth the money. I now have to take the dress into get it repaired in order to wear it in the future.

thought it ran large

  • Age: 31-35
  • Body-type: curvy
  • Location: so cal

i found this to actually be quite big. I'm normally a large in everything FP and a medium was loose on me. A small fit, the way it looks on the model - I wasn't able to button the top 2 buttons, and a medium was loose. I'm a 36C, for reference. Also this is a slip - it looks like a slip. I was hoping to wear it as a dress, but I think it has to be worn as a slip

This dress is okay... It is a beautiful print but the quality just isn't there. Mine arrived with buttons broken in half already. Not worth the price. Fits true to size and just like the model. I am a true Medium, this was no different.
