Strange snug cut and too heavy for summer
I was lucky enough to get both the purple and tan colors -- the ones that show the most beautiful, soft color variations -- in this tee in a size L. And even though the fabric turned out to be WAY too heavy for summertime wear here in steamy Virginia, I would have kept and cherished them if not for significant issues with the fit. I did NOT achieve the drapey, oversized look shown in the photos, even though the bust width was technically about 52 inches -- normally plenty huge enough to float away from my body, etc. Instead, these tees clung everywhere in an unflattering way. I think the problem lies in the cut of the shoulder / sleeve, which on me was incredibly small and tight, even though the neckline itself was huge (another strike against). If you're built like an FP model (or are petite), these will probably look great on you . . . but us curvy girls should look elsewhere.
Not a great purchase
I wanted to like this! I got the purple and it is a beautiful color and the materials is comfortable and expensive feeling. But the size and cut is truly unflattering. Some Free People clothing can be baggy and flattering; this is not one of them. It leaves you looking boxy and larger. I even tried it over a dress so it could slide to the side with straps underneath and that was worse. My first true dislike from FP. Sorry!
This is probably one of my favorite shirts, i wear it all the time, so i thought I'd leave a nice review! Personally i style it with shorts, and tie it in one corner i think it's cute and makes it so you can see I'm wearing pants lol. 10/10 recommend tho
I laundered this prior to wear according to washing instructions. And it is shedding like crazy! Like white fur from a baby rabbit, sticking everywhere. I'm going to try to throw it in the dryer to see if that helps. Hopefully it won't melt the velvet. Otherwise, it's a nice shirt. Hangs well. Soft.
pretty, but thick
Had to find out what the fuss was about. Wish this was thinner, not practical 4 FL Weather, maybe in winter. Found purple @ deep discount. Colour has tonal character. Not shiny. Thick nap Velour. Huge boxy fit, but drape is attractive on.Sounds strange but the material stitched @ underarm area feels too thick & uncomfortable. Xsm is huge. 5 ft 1, 107lbs I hope.
Sort of feels like a towel..
This top is cute but the neckline fit awkwardly and it is sort of boxy, which did not complement me very well. This top is NOT VELVET, something close, but most definitely not velvet.Don't get me wrong, I still really like this top it's just a bit different than how advertised.
So glad I saw this in the store first
I had this tee in my cart numerous times in the tan color, after going to the store I passed on it solely bc the colors in the store didn't look like what was online at all. I know they said the colors may vary, but they looked more like ivory colored velour tees with tan overdye. I'm not sure how to describe it. I am grateful to have tried it on and saw the blue colorway in the store bc that's the one I thought was gorgeous. Looks the same as the online images.
I love wear tees and this tee brings a bit of elegance. It runs true to size hanging a bit slouchy if you prefer that look. I'm normally a size small and that is what I ordered. The black wash is pretty and soft and would recommend, the quality is better than most cotton tees. Worth the $.
