Vibrators

And how the right vibrator fits into that formula...

Right now, some of us are blessed to be sharing our spaces and fridges and feelings with someone who we love. Some of us are blessed to NOT have to share these things, and are indulging them -- or not -- with reckless abandon. (We tend to want what we don’t have sometimes, even in quarantine.)

But, there seems to be a common trend among my friends, hunkered down as one or two -- touch, these days, is elusive. For those flying solo, the mere fact that we’re going out far less, if at all, kind of put the kibosh on meeting anyone new. (Have you TRIED Zoom dating?) And for those who are coupled up, the stress of navigating each day as a solid tag-team can also inhibit an otherwise buoyant and fulfilling relationship. In other words, sexual intimacy might be lacking for many of us.

Scientific studies indicate that touch provides immeasurable benefits -- namely, reducing stress, encouraging trust and safety, and triggering the release of oxytocin, a feel-good hormone secreted by your pituitary gland. When you touch or are being touched, what you are actually experiencing is the brain’s reaction to signals sent by receptors in our body. Receptors including corpuscles, which are cells that float freely in our blood and lymph. For example, there are Meissner’s corpuscles, which react to light touch, and are located near the surface of our skin -- palms, soles, lips, eyelids, external genitals and nipples. Our friends, the Paccinian corpuscles, are located deeper beneath the skin and react to vibration and pressure.

What I’m getting at is -- regardless if you’re curled up with your significant other, a good book or a succulent even, we all need touch. And if you’re in need of a more intimate arousing these days, fear not -- there are ways to give yourself a hand. Smile Makers, creators of the Frenchman, Millionaire and Ballerina vibrators, among others, devotes its craft to the empowerment of women. They aim to ensure that pleasure and satisfaction be attained in a responsible and very fun way. And so, the Smile Makers’ team created a great little quiz to help you discover which vibrator might best suit your needs. And, bonus: your answer might give the ol’ corpuscles something to write home about.
