Brace yourself for this “balm”shell…

As a clean beauty, sustainable home and fashion content creator, I like my day-to-day beauty regime to be simple and no-fuss. I normally gravitate toward makeup that requires minimal effort – and doesn’t feel like makeup.
I started the journey towards clean beauty nearly 5 years ago, a vegan who realized that what I was putting on my body was just as important as what I was putting in it. As a result, my makeup bag is stocked with clean beauty only. And because I also have eczema and sensitive skin, finding new brands – clean, fragrance-free, and natural – is important to me.

It’s so easy to be a wasteful consumer, but it’s also easy to be a mindful one as well.”
So when I learned about Axiology’s Balmies, a vegan, no-waste, 3-in-1 hydrating beauty balm, I invited Rachel, a friend who also prefers minimal make-up, to come over to try them out with me.
Here’s our takeaway:
Here’s our takeaway:
EYES
I had a little trouble getting the color to stay on my eyes (I have oily skin), but Rachel had no problem at all. The pink color looked amazing on her! I did a combo of Caramel in the corners and Nude Plum on the rest of the eye. I liked that I could build up the color as I felt comfortable.
CHEEKS
I never thought I could be a blush person, but these colors are great – they added a nice warm hue to my cheeks. It went on smoothly and blended easily.

LIPS:
I love a red lip; always have, always will. The cherry color from the Of The Earth kit achieved the color I was looking for – not too dramatic for daytime! Rachel mixed two colors together to achieve her clean, pink lip.
VERDICT:
I will definitely use Balmies for my cheeks and lips this spring and summer. It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing makeup at all, and Balmies didn’t irritate my sensitive skin. The package-free crayon (wrapped only in paper) is small enough to stash in your purse for a quick reapply, whether you want a light or medium pop of color. Washing it off at the end of the day was no issue – it came off pretty quickly.
