TRAVEL LIGHT
The Secret To My Airport Outfitting
By: Kendall Peel
Begins with a “T.”
Frequent travel has, thankfully, made me an efficient packer.
And efficiency is key when you’re strategizing how many different suitcases and bags you can carry between you and your fiancé -- and how many outfits you need -- all while accounting for washers and dryers in various AirBnB’s across Europe.
It’s a good thing that planning outfits is sort of my job.

It’s a good thing that planning outfits is sort of my job.
For a recent return trip to two of my favorite cities, London and Paris, I had to implement an extra element of strategy. Traveling implores you to honor the seasons and dress appropriately. Which might mean you have to pack cardigans and sweaters, even scarves and gloves, that evidently will weigh you down. (Do I need a lightweight trench?)
My secret?
Three white tees.
My secret?
Three white tees.
That’s all I would need. (Well, three white tees, plus all the other clothes I was packing.)
Now, arguably, there are all DIFFERENT kinds of basic white tees – tight, oversized, baggy short, long…you get the idea. So I needed to bring three that I knew would all work as various outfit pieces, to be worn over and under and washed as needed.

PLANNING TRAVEL OUTFITS DOESN’T HAVE TO BE DIFFICULT.
First, I decided that I would need a semi-tight, higher-necked basic white tee to wear under blazers, cardigans, or sweatshirts. Under cashmere turtlenecks for extra warmth, etc.
Enter the Ever Had Tee.
This go-to tee is the perfect fit. It’s tight where it needs to be, but not restrictive. The high neckline is perfect for peeking out the top of sweatshirts or great worn under jackets and blazers. The ribbed details on the tee give that extra touch to still look elevated when worn alone.
Next, I needed a classic oversized tee. I knew just the one -- the Perfect Oversized Tee. I could live in this shirt. In fact, sometimes I do. As much as I love a good, tailored look, there are times when a big, slouchy tee just can’t compare. This tee would probably be my most universal of the trip. There is just something so elevating about that little pop of crisp white peeking out from your collar. This and the Nova Tee, one of my favorite baby tees, became my ultimate base layers for the trip, each serving their own special purpose!
But, did I really need all three?
The Perfect Oversized Tee and Nova were both necessary in their own right. The Perfect Oversized being my go-to grab for travel outfits, airport outfits, and chillier weather. Think those lazier layering days. The Nova Tee boasts a bit more of a shrunken body, so it was perfect for layering without looking too bulky and, like the Ever Had Tee, gives a cleaner, more tailored look. Where the Ever Had is tighter, the Nova fits more like a casual, comfy tee.
The Nova’s boxy, lightweight fit is entirely different than the oversized, slouchy, exaggerated fit of the Perfect Oversized Tee -- even though they’re both “big” white tees!

EVEN IN MY DAILY REALITY…
From sunny spring Hyde Park days to dreamy nights along the Seine, back to my little desk in South Philadelphia, these classic white t-shirts are STILL on rotation.
