Balanced water whenever you need it...pHinally.

As many of us are just beginning our 2021 routines (and feeling some of them start to “click”), I’m sending a collective wish out into the universe -- to create and maintain balance.

Now, balance can mean many things, and though surely I could afford to more steadily hold my crow pose, I’m specifically looking to better balance my body as a whole.

I’m looking at you, water.

You may have seen them -- the colorful charts that rank the pH levels of our foods and drinks, from the most basic to the most acidic. Only my phone knows just how many I’ve screenshotted -- for all those “oh yeah, I need this info yet again!” moments. Water, of course, always sits smack dab in the middle at a neutral pH of 7. The middle, it seemed, was the right place for me to start.
Keeping hydrated is, in and of itself, a vital part of maintaining balance in the body. Water replenishes those fluids we lose daily. When we’re thirsty, it’s the body (hypothalamus, specifically) letting us know “I NEED MORE WATER TO PRODUCE MORE BLOOD.” (Yes, that’s what thirst really is!) Additionally, and equally important -- sufficient water intake keeps our body temperature in check and joints lubricated; and maintains a certain and lovely suppleness of the skin.

DYLN’s reusable water bottle comes with a magnesium-based filter designed to alkalize any water that you choose to fill it with, which caters to my love of convenience, sustainability, AND quest for balance. Plus, each filter will accommodate nearly EIGHTY gallons of water before needing to be replaced.

If you’re feeling adventurous and want to give your H2O an even bigger boost, you might also consider:

The subtle energy lift of nettle and red raspberry in Wooden Spoon’s Solar Power Energy, which makes for a nice add to my afternoon regimen.

Anima Mundi’s Happiness Tonic, a tincture that lives up to its name through a blend of feel-good adaptogens, including rhodiola and ashwagandha.

As soon as my new water bottle arrives, phase one of my wish will have come true. The rest will hang in the balance.

And, for those of you who want to learn more about balancing your skincare, here’s a nice little article we wrote up last year.
