WE TRIED IT:

Dedtergent+ vs Our Toughest, Hottest Workout To Date

By: Caitlin Madden

Can DedCool cut through a 97-degree HIIT class?

As a member of our FP Movement community, you’re likely familiar with our We Tried It series where, each month, a group of curious Home Office teammates seeks out camaraderie and cardio (usually), and life-lesson-learning through the lens of a new sport.

This month, we’ve decided to put a slightly different spin on things–not only are we trying out a new HIIT workout, but we’re pitting the results (pun intended) against the (super)power of a new product, birthed from a collective love and practice of responsible wellness.

FP MOVEMENT x DEDCOOL

Yes, cult fave DedCool and FP Movement have collaborated on a new laundry detergent (er, Dedtergent+ ) that embodies DedCool’s unyielding commitment to making feel-good, do-good products with FPM’s ethos: Fitness. Wellness. Happiness. And, it’s made specifically to target post-routine sweat and odors.

Without further ado, welcome, Madonna Lily. (Heavy on the universal happiness factor, thanks to its notes of black pepper, sandalwood and bergamot.) To put Madonna Lily to a true test, we’re going to be washing our hard-loved FP Movement gear post-Full Body Burn class in a Dedtergent+ rinse.

But first, what workout is worthy of this diehard smell test?

WHAT WE DID: The HEATED Full Body Burn Class

Together with DedCool, we scoured LA in search of its sweatiest workout. We landed on Heated Room’s HEATED Full Body Burn class . an upbeat mat Pilates class held in a 97-degree infrared studio.

Heated Room has built a reputation for high-intensity, high-temperature workouts that challenge both strength and stamina. With a second location opening soon in Santa Monica, Heated Room’s original West Hollywood studio did the honors of hosting our team, along with a few brand buddies, to take the temperature on their hot hype.

We were promised a full-body workout that would “light up every muscle” while focusing on precise, controlled movements to tone and define legs, arms, shoulders, and seat. But–how would we, and our FP Movement gear, hold up in 97-degree heat?

WORKOUT EXPECTATION VS REALITY:

We knew we’d break a sweat, but we didn’t anticipate just how much. Controlled pilates movements combined with high infrared heat (which is said to promote detoxification, muscle relaxation and improved circulation) made every squat and plank feel that much harder.

Amy: "In the words of Paris Hilton – 'That's hot.'"

Hannah: "SO sweaty."

Rebecca: "This might be the hottest class I've ever tried. Would recommend it."

DEDCOOL EXPECTATION VS REALITY:

So, as one might expect, a workout as hot and intense as this did in fact lead to some less-than-desirable-smelling workout wear. And this is exactly the scenario we hoped for. Off to the washing machine, with lots of Never Better bras and leggings, and Madonna Lily in tow.

DedCool designed this sensitive-skin-friendly Dedtergent+ especially for performance fabrics, to effectively target activewear sweat/oils while preventing color leaching or greying whites–leaving only a light, subtle scent after its done its work. In essence, Madonna Lily was made to match some seriously tough workouts. And we can confirm that, after a run through the wash, our clothes truly Never Looked Or Smelled Better.

Pro tip: a little goes a long way!

WHAT WE THOUGHT

Did we find LA’s sweatiest workout? Without a doubt.

Was our endurance-tested sweat performance maximized? You bet.

Did the DedCool Dedtergent+ meet our every hope for refreshed post-workout activewear? We’ve already booked our next class, and ordered another bottle.
