Good Vibes: Your Best Stress Reliever Is… A bit of Poet-ry?

A bit of Poet-ry?

A few observations I made last week:

I scolded a nail for not wanting to stay in the living room wall. (I really did this. I called it a jerk.)

A paper cut went unattended because… I. Just. Couldn’t. Deal.

The reason? A little clumsiness, and stress. Though thrilled to be reacclimating to life, there’s a lot that goes along with that. So some tasks feel a bit -- overwhelming.

Not a fan of my aforementioned short-fused self, I soon began exploring practices that could help to bring me down a notch or two: Epsom salt baths. Morning meditations. Keeping a journal. I’m a big fan, in theory. But they’re hard to maintain given my ever-blossoming schedule.

So, in an era when self-calm still proves elusive -- though absolutely necessary -- I have to wonder: could the answer to my uberstress be slightly simpler to obtain?

Enter: The Poet.
Smile Makers’ newest -- and silky-to-the-touch -- plum-colored vibrator buzzes like you’d expect it would. But what makes the Poet unique is its subtle suction capabilities, thanks to not one but three flexible and waterproof “mouths,” with five built-in pulsation modes (yes, I counted). Which gives you more versatility than a traditional vibrator.

The Poet was designed with squeeze sensors on its sides, which puts you in the driver’s seat, re: pulsation intensity. Once you find a setting that makes you happy, you can even lock in your preferred pulse so as to focus on other things. ;)

Now, it probably wouldn’t be polite -- or right -- for me to describe how the prose of this poet makes ME feel, but let’s just say I don’t disagree with the science that supports vibrator use:

IF YOU’RE HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING...

Using a vibrator relieves tension by encouraging our bodies to up their production of dopamine, a feel-good hormone. Upon climax (and please note that the big “O” doesn’t have to be the end-all be-all), calming oxytocin and endorphins are released into the body, which induce calm and, ultimately, more zzzz’s.

IF YOU’RE SUFFERING FROM HEADACHES...

The same endorphin rushes which might lull you into relaxation might also help to alleviate that not-so-cozy pain in your brain.

IF YOUR CONFIDENCE IS WANING...

Well, this isn’t science so much as noting the importance of spending some time with an understanding and very discreet “partner,” to explore and recognize the in’s and out’s of your personal pleasure. By knowing what you like -- and don’t -- you’ll likely discover a newfound self-confidence that permeates all facets of your life. A definite stress reliever and life booster.

In other words, good vibes for good vibes.
