STYLING 101
What To Wear This Festival Season
By: Haley Gaylor, Belle Bautista, Rebecca Margolis
FOUR DAYS OF FESTIVAL OUTFITTING, ONE SHORT.
It’s that time of year when we dust off our Pinterest boards, reactivate old tumblr accounts, and daydream about Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler’s iconic 2014 Coachella ensembles (living rent-free in our minds, I may add). While imagining our music festival outfits is the exciting part — the packing is not.
Considering that I am a carry-on suitcase loyalist myself, simplifying the packing process is essential. With the help of my gorgeous besties and talented FP teammates, we put together a four-day festival outfit guide using our favorite awkward-length bottom, the We The Free Montana Shorts, as the core piece for every look.
One short, endless festival outfitting — let's dive in.

FESTIVAL DAY 1: BOHO IS BACK
The OG Free People called and said it’s our time to shine. Boho chic styling is back in a big way this year, and what better way to honor that than returning to our roots. Channel the days of FP’s past in lacey bras and bralettes, ethereal kimonos, and , rustic boots for an effortlessly bohemian look.
FESTIVAL DAY 2: TREND WE LOVE – SPORT
Sport intercepted the festival scene last year, and it’s still going strong, perfectly blending style with comfort (a festival outfitting ideal). Start with the We the Free Montana Shorts as the base, then pair with a bikini top, sporty shoes, and your favorite accessories for that it girl look.
FESTIVAL DAY 3: EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS
Effortless music festival outfitting made simple. The combination of shorts, an oversized tee, and rustic boots (our favorite are the Frye Campus Boots) will never go out of style. Make it your own through playful accessory pairings by adding a bandana, sunnies, or a belt bag.
FESTIVAL DAY 4: KATE MOSS AT GLASTONBURY, CIRCA 2005
We all have our festival icon, and mine is early 2000’s Kate Moss at Glasto. She strikes the perfect balance of femme lace and utility styling. To emulate her style, we paired the Love Language Vest and Hunter Wellies back to the WTF Montana Shorts for that model-off-duty look.
