WE TRIED IT:

Dog Walking for Charity

By: Jules Boyd

This time, we’re letting our four-legged friends steal the spotlight.

Animal shelters have a special place in my heart. Both of my dogs are rescues, and I’m a big proponent of adopting — or responsibly purchasing — fur babies. I know I speak for almost everyone at FP when I say I love dogs; our Home Office is even dog-friendly, so we can take them to work with us (spoiler alert: read until the end to see which one of us went home with a new friend)!

Last week, Team FP partnered with Street Tails Animal Rescue, a nonprofit dog shelter in Philadelphia, to take a few of their adoptable dogs for a walk around the Navy Yard (where our Home Office is located). Street Tails is affiliated with Best Friends Animal Society, another nonprofit that we’ve partnered with for over 5 years in a row, that works with shelters worldwide to promote animal welfare.

MEET THE TEAM

From left to right: Tofu, Rolo, Elliot, Dot, and Beatle (below) were our star players for the day.

P.S. — Elliot is named after the Philadelphia Eagles’ placekicker, Jake Elliot. Every time Jake scores a field goal, he sends a donation to Street Tails. Go Birds!

WHAT WE (ALL!) WORE

Of course, we had to don the dogs in FP Movement, including the pet version of our favorite Hit The Slopes Fleece. They were perfect accessories for our little friends on a chilly December day — plus, they looked utterly adorable. We even put a few of the small dogs in our iconic Quilted Carryall…because why not?

As for Team FP, we sported our new and well-loved outerwear staples, including our brand-new Like A Dream Puffers (our warmest puffers yet!), the iconic Pippa Packable, and the convertible Shirr Enough Backpack Puffer.

IT’S GOOD TO GIVE BACK

In the spirit of the season and to honor our partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, FP donated $2,000 to Street Tails! Animal welfare is a goal that is so dear to our heart and values. As of today, almost all of the adoptable dogs we walked have been adopted — YAY! — but shelters, especially during the winter months, often deal with an influx of unhoused animals due to the cold. Even if you’re unable to commit to adopting a new friend, donations in the form of old blankets, towels, or treats are always welcome and the perfect way to give back.

THE HAPPIEST ENDING

Remember our friend Rolo? Kyra, one of our merchandisers, actually ended up adopting him! We’re so happy that Rolo found his fur-ever home — and we can’t wait to see the two of them together at the Home Office.

Happiness comes in many forms, but personally, I think there is no greater happiness than giving back in some shape or form. And hey, if you end up with a cuddly dog at the end, I think everyone wins.
