My Skin

Absolutely nothing in this world puts up more of a fight than my skin. It’s not oily, or dry, but it’s extremely sensitive and prone to redness, which is slightly unfortunate because I LOVE buying new skincare and I wish I could try every product that piques my interest. I have to use extreme caution when diving into new things and usually steer clear of unnatural fragrances and questionable ingredients — basically, it’s safe to say that “patch testing” is my best friend.

Putting my obsession of skincare aside, I was super excited to try out the Youth Glue Mask for one reason: the ingredient list. It’s short, simple, and sweet. The first ingredient is literally Manuka Honey. I love when I can turn a package around and digest (wink wink) its contents. It’s nice to understand exactly what I’m going to be slathering all over my face.

First Impressions

Before opening the container, I immediately took note of the label’s simplicity, which I really enjoy, and the glass jar is also a nice touch. I’ll add that I’m a sucker for a glass jar – I reuse them for anything and everything! After unscrewing the lid, I took in the very natural and slightly refreshing scent, whose fragrance is reminiscent of being outside in nature without being too overpowering. I dipped my finger into the dark green substance (thank you spirulina!) and was reminded of why “glue” is in the name of this mask – its texture was sticky but not in a messy way and it felt just the slightest bit gritty. The application was astonishingly easy. I put a few dots on my forehead, one on each cheek, and one on my chin, and then I wet my fingertips and massaged the mask into my face while embracing the gentle grittiness of this soothing self-care session. After the application process, I reexamined the jar and was so surprised, and slightly skeptical, about the “leave-on” time being a short 5 minutes, but I decided to trust the process.

The Results

After a quick 5 minutes, I washed the mask off with warm water and patted my face dry with a washcloth to reveal brand new skin. I can honestly say, my face never felt softer after a mask and to make things even better, it felt hydrated AND moisturized without any added product. If I was feeling super lazy and tired, I could have easily let the rest of my skincare steps fly out the window and just gone to bed without a worry. That’s how good my skin felt. Although, on this night, I was ready to do my full-fledged routine so I did follow the mask up with a rosehip oil and my favorite moisturizer.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this mask. I use a face mask at least once a week, but it’s definitely hard for me to find masks that don’t make my skin feel stripped and dry after use, so I’m excited to add this one to my lineup of really good face masks. Next on my to-do list: make room on the top shelf of my bathroom cabinet.

My Skin

Simply put: she’s picky and prone to fits. Oh, how I long to figure her out one day…Luckily, there is a name for it, and combination is a nice way to refer to an ever-changing, fussy skin type. I am thankful that my major, all-over-the-face acne days have been left in high school, but it’s a whole new roller coaster going from dry to oily in one day, and dealing with occasional outbursts of eczema, whiteheads, and deep, under-the-skin breakouts.

On top of that, testing new products is always a toss-up, because my skin likes what it likes. I’ve tried things, and red itchiness is all that was left behind, or a colony of whiteheads spreading throughout my face. Big. Yikes. What I do know is she loves clean, natural stuff, nothing too far-fetched or outlandish. Simple. That’s why, when I looked at the packaging for GoBeYou’s Youth Glue mask, I was relieved to see a four-ingredient list. I released some of my new-product stress, and felt good about diving in.

First Impressions

That nice, short list of ingredients definitely caught my eye, but my first impression of this product came before reading any labels or even opening the container. A little residue found its way to the outside, and I was shocked by the sticky, honey-like texture. Definitely not what I was expecting, despite “glue” in the name. Flipping over the container, I started to read, and Manuka Honey was the first ingredient: the same honey I put in my tea and on my yogurt! That made me excited. I love when skincare has main ingredients I can eat (and pronounce), because that means what I’m putting onto my skin and into my system is clean and natural.

I opened the lid and dove in, and I was met with a thick, green goop with a slightly sweet, grassy fragrance. After attempting to spread this stuff on my face straight from the container, and being shocked by the insane viscosity of this stuff, I read the packaging further that told me to wet my finger tips. Ah. Makes much more sense (classic Gwen move). That’s when I started to feel that slightly gritty texture as I massaged it into my face, scrubbing away all the dirt and grime and really getting me to that baby-soft result.

The Results

Another thing I’d love to point out before we get into my results is the amount of time this mask takes. This is something that always stumps me about other masks. Normally, it’s a 10-20 minute wait time before removal. I’m lazy and always keep them on for longer because why not, it can’t hurt. But I was shocked to read that this mask only needs five minutes before rinsing off. FIVE MINUTES? I wanted to see if I would really see a result in that amount of time, so I set my timer.

They did not lie. Wiping the mask away with a washcloth, the dull texture of my skin was replaced with a soft, smooth surface. I stood near the natural lighting in my room and took out my phone, looking into the selfie camera and seeing a slight gleam on my cheek. No product, no lotion, just my clean, bare face. At that moment, I knew I was working with a seriously great product, and could only imagine what my skin would look like after multiple uses. Following up with my glowy skin care routine of a peptide serum and barrier-repair cream, I was absolutely in love, and happy to have this in my new rotation.

My Skin

I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a non-believer when it comes to face masks. I’m not always super impressed with the results or feel as though something magical just happened to my skin — I’m just here for the fun of it. I have very dry, sensitive skin that’s prone to eczema breakouts, so I like to be super cautious when it comes to my skincare.

Enter: GoBeYou’s Youth Glue. The simplified ingredient list is honestly the first thing that piqued my interest: Manuka Honey, Organic Spirulina, Canarium Iuzonicum, Copaifera Officinalis. Manuka Honey as the first ingredient seemed like the perfect solution to my dryness, and the anti-inflammatory properties were a huge added bonus for my skin concerns.

First Impressions

The mask itself was extremely thick and goopy. It has a slightly earthy scent, but nothing too strong or fragrant. The application was fairly easy; the texture is tacky, so I tried to be extra gentle when applying it so as to not tug on my skin. After applying the mask to the forehead, cheeks, and chin, I waited five minutes and then washed it off with warm water. The best part? The mask gently exfoliated as I rinsed it off — and it was around here that I concluded this is a must-have in my skincare routine.

The Results

After fully rinsing, I actually couldn’t believe how bright and refreshed my skin looked. I definitely have enlarged pores around my T-zone, and I’m not lying when I say they visibly appeared smaller and clearer. Again, as someone who considers face masks gimmicky, I was converted as a believer within minutes. I followed up with my normal skincare: a niacinamide serum, Vitamin C serum, and ceramide moisturizer. My skin felt so soft and clean.

After using it several times since the initial application, this is one of the best products I’ve used for my ultra-sensitive skin — it’s truly food for your face!
