Take a (coastal) walk in our store teams' shoes, literally.
In 2002, we opened our first Free People store in Paramus, NJ. Though we now have over 180 locations, there are three that currently sit at the top of our summer state of mind: Portland, Maine; Palm Beach, Florida; and Montecito, California. Each reflective of their distinct coastal style, but united in ease and feel-good fabrications.
Please join us in this coast-to-coast voyage.
First up, Portland. Set along a working harbor, the heartbeat of Maine boasts brick-laden streets and a bustling waterfront. Its pace is steady and purposeful-rooted in maritime history but ever-evolving. And cool, in both its vibe and sea breezes.

MUST-SEE’S IN PORTLAND, ME
Start your day off with some Vinyasa at the Portland Yoga Project. This studio places high value in things like accountability, accessibility, and community, definitely making them a local favorite!
Then walk to the heart of the Old Port where you can grab a coffee or tea from Bard. They have a variety of roasts, ranging from Guatemala to Vietnam, and they make all of their syrups in house. Maine is known for their maple syrup so the Maine Maple Latte is definitely a must try!
The Eastern Promenade is a 78-acre historic public park and rec area on the Eastern tip of the peninsula. There is something for everyone here, including the East End beach, trails, a boat launch, food trucks, and various athletic fields. Bring a picnic blanket and spend the day here taking in the Casco Bay views!
Print: A Bookstore is a locally owned, independent bookstore known not just for its wide selection, but also its event series, readings, and active involvement with the community!
A trip to Portland is just not complete without some lobster. The Highroller Lobster Co. doesn’t just have an amazing lobster roll, but they also have lobster grilled cheese, lobster tacos, etc. all served in the cutest indoor/outdoor retro diner.
End the day with a walk to the Top of the World on the East End. This is truly an if you know, you know spot and is worth all the hype. Here you’ll find one of the only spots in Portland where you can get a panoramic view of the entire city, and score a beautiful sunset.
