Beautiful yet not too comfortable
This is a beautiful top, the color's lovely and the fitting's flattering, yet the fabric's so stiff it's a bit uncomfortable, I found it a bit loose on the body but slightly tight on the arms and I have skinny though muscular arms. I'm 5'7 and ordered the XS as usual.
Like the others noted, the material is a heavy denim. It is made very well. I didn't notice a smell at all. I love this. A little to short for a dress but pairing with tights and boots or flats is how I plan on rocking this. very cute. I love it.
great quality and versatile!
It's not a flimsy denim, but a very sturdy one that's great quality. I got an xs (normally my size 0-2/xs) and it fit perfectly as a tunic or I could even wear it with shorts with over the knee boots. I also think it could be worn in winter and in cooler summer nights with shorts and sandals. Love the versatility of it, and it's also very nicely cut so it has a perfect loose, but fit look. Very happy with this one!
The dress is beautiful and made of a nice heavy material that could work well for all seasons. The color is a nice deep color and the ties in the front are sturdy and keep their place when tightened or loosened. For those saying that this is too short to be worn as a dress, it's because it is a tunic. BUT!! There is a solution. This is beautiful worn as a dress and it can be done by sizing up a size. I tried on my usual size and a size bigger to test it out. Going up with a size works really well. It doesn't make the rest of the dress seem too big; shoulders and arm areas remain good. *Also, I didn't run into any problems with a weird smell that other reviewers have mentioned. It could have been caused from shipping possibly, I guess?
I have been eyeing this shirt for a few months. I read the reviews and finally decided to order it. I am 5'4", 150lbs, 34D. Curvy athletic build. I normally wear an 8 or 10 and a medium. A few of the reviews read that it ran a little big. I decided to try the small since a lot of Free People runs a little big. It was too small, pulls through the chest and shoulders. I am going to try to call customer service and see if they think I need a medium or large. The material is heavy (more like traditional blue jean material) but the fit was soooo cute that I will order till I get it right. Oh, I did not notice any smell on the shirt I received.
Very cute and well-made but too stiff
I really liked the tunic overall--it's cute, flattering, and well-made, but I found it too stiff for my liking. I would've loved a softer denim. I didn't have any problems with the smell, unlike some other reviewers. For reference, I'm 5'7"-- so it's definitely a tunic and not a dress on me--34 b-c, 25-26, 34, and got my usual XS.
Cute but short!
I love this tunic and it will be great for leggings but when I sit it is really short---I'm exchanging for the next size up in hopes it will be a little longer! My tunic smelled fine--as per previous reviewers--mine didn't need any treatment to make it wearable! I love the item but make sure you try it on or size up--in my opinion!
This tunic/dress is AWESOME!!! I usually wear a 14. I am 5'6 and I am a thick chick. Booty. Thighs. Boobs. I got the large and it fit perfectly. I think it runs just slightly on the large side. Just slightly. It's just long enough for me to wear as a dress and I plan to pair with thigh socks and my cowboy boots. Someone suggested wearing it with a Free People slip, but I think that takes away from the lace-up design, so I am going to go with just a triangle bralette so you can't see it, but my girls still have some support. As far as the smell, it smells like all the dyed denim pieces I've ever bought. And it is barely noticeable. The material is heavy weight and high quality. This tunic is just so perfect. A classic piece in my opinion. And worth every dime I paid for it. Get you one!!
Nice top that literally stinks
This top looked utilitarian and attractive, but when it arrived the fabric smelled terrible. I sent it back, and just received another one. The new one smells too, but not as strong. It's a pungent musty, moldy kind of smell. I see from another reviewer here that cleaning will not remedy the situation, but baking it will. Really? This is what we get for a high-priced top? I have been a Free People customer for many years and, sadly, quality seems to be declining sharply.
