• About the Silversmith: Tonya June Rafael is from Prewitt, New Mexico. Raised by her grandparents, Tonya June picked up the basics silversmithing at an early age. She is known for enhancing her sterling silver jewelry with a variety of bright-colored natural stones and oversized pieces.

In 1941, the Navajo Council created the Navajo Tribe’s Arts and Crafts Guild, which then became the Navajo Arts & Crafts Enterprise (NACE) in 1972. NACE features handcrafted goods from Navajo artisans, jewelers and silversmiths. The Navajo Nation extends into the states of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico covering over 27,000 square miles.
