Takes a couple of goes to wear in but great after
You must wear in your Birkenstocks. The first time you wear them your feet will ache and they'll feel super strange. Bend the sole a bit when you get them with your hands to soften them up. This helps soften the cork and make them more comfortable to wear. I've worn these a few times now and they're starting to get more comfy.
Cute, practical, contours, but ouch!!
I just picked up a pair of these in black (leather) yesterday and I love how practical they are and how they contour to my feet. But the leather straps have been very uncomfortable and have broken the skin on the top of my right foot after just a few hours of use! Perhaps my strap was too tight or I'm doing something wrong, because I know Birks are renowned for their comfort. Here's hoping I eventually break these in and understand the comfort everyone boasts about!
I love the quality of these Birkenstocks, they are so nice! I recently bought these same Birkenstocks from another website in a 37, but they were so large it was like I was clunking around in swim fins. I know they are supposed to be a bit large, but these were ridiculous. I returned them and I couldn't find a size 36 anywhere....so thank god for FreePeople! I immediately ordered a new pair and I am currently awaiting their arrival. If these do not fit, I may have to resort to the children's sizes...(for reference, I tend to wear a size 6/5.5, but I can wear a size 5 US in certain styles) Small feet people be wary! I will update again.
Cuter than expected
I was skeptical when my sister wanted these for her birthday but purchased them for her. They are actually real cute and are true to size. She is 8.5/39 and they fit well. We were worried about "narrow" footbed but they are roomy. I cannot imagine how large the "wide" would be. She is excited to wear them in the summer and even now in the cold with cute socks.
perfect for my tootsies
I wore these all summer and into the fall and now, thanks to fp's darling socks winter. These sandals are truly the best in comfort and versatility! They run a bit wide, but I suspect I wouldn't be able to wear them with thick socks if they were more narrow. I am considering a second pair in another color so that I can wear them with more.
Love My New Birks!
I just received these in the mail yesterday and I love them! They ran true to size, I am a size 7 with a narrow foot and the 37 was perfect. These are the narrow version of the shoe, so I don't recommend ordering from this website if you have a wide foot. The bottoms have molded to my feet very quickly and are very comfortable; however, the leather straps do rub against the tops of my feet. I am hoping that I will get used to this soon.
Colour comes off on socks !
I received these recently and am very hapyp with fit. Im a US 8 and got the 38 but changed for a 39 and its perfect. However, the first coupl of times I wore them without sox they rub my skin off and so I thought Id break them in over a course of a few weeks with socks. I had bought half a dozen pairs of FP socks to wear with my birkenstocks anyway ....so today is my first time with my new ivory FP socks with the ruffle around top and all the black from the birkenstocks has stained my brand new socks and im very upset...Fp styles the birks with socks and they look great. Im going to spray the inside with a sealant spray but very dissappointing...perhaps they should come with a warning about this ! I give the actual shoes 4 stars because of the hardness of the leather (I think it will take weeks and weeks to be able to wear them without socks) but gave them 2 stars because My brand new socks are now ruined...Sob
