I love the brand CP shades, and was stoked that they were collaborating with free people. I ordered the rust color in my usual xs. I'm almost always xs in free people. I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in an item from free people. The colors of the shirt were much lighter than the image online, and the shirt feels as if it has already been washed by someone at home. The seams are uneven, and there are threads poking out from the seams. Also, the arms are extremely small, actually tight on the arms, while the blouse portion is oversized. To top it off, some of the buttons were missing. Based on the other reviews, I assume the shirt I received was was just a lemon. This shirt is unacceptable for the price I paid. Going back in the mail today.

Your basic plaid shirt
The color ( rust) is true to the pic and very nice especially with the checked pattern showing w/ the sleeves rolled up. i found it a bit tight through the torso and large everywhere else so it really suits a slim build. I don't understand the raves about the buttery soft fabric as it's actually a bit on the rough side, not itchy or coarse though. It's also a fairly thin shirt so it is not going to double as a fall cover up which is what I was hoping for.Nice color , nice design w/ the longer back which I like. I wish it was a bit more substantial for fall but I will layer under it and throw a vest over it.
i have a few other CP shades items from free people that i love, so i didn't mind paying the higher price for this one. in person, it's really nice quality, soft fabric. i got the rust, which is a great color for fall. i'm 5'2" 100lbs and the XS fits TTS on me. wish i could have grabbed this in other colors before it went out of stock last winter, but glad i have one now!
Fabric shredded after one day of wear
I splurged on this shirt like the other reviewers. I had an eye on the red version for a while but waited too long and it sold out everywhere, so ended up going for the blue one that I tried on in my local FP store. After one day, the fabric on the right arm started shredding like crazy. Not on the seams or places where i could just cut it, but in the middle of the arm where if i were to cut it off it would cause little holes. I brought it back to my local FP store to return. As i do like the shirt and the FP employees mentioned it was maybe just bad luck with this one, i ended up returning this shirt, got my money back and had the FP employee order a new one for me online in the same size and color. I got the new shirt in after a few days and when i opened the package i noticed they just sent me the SAME shirt back! This makes me question the return policy FP, I returned the shirt for a reason it was flawed, and shouldn't be sold anymore as is at that price. I have to return this again now.

I, like the first reviewer, would normally never buy a basic shirt this pricey. But if this shirt is your style, it will become a favorite because it is one of those pieces that perfectly suits you. The check pattern, the softness, the perfect plaid on the inside... all yummy. My one negative is the long back, I'm sure intended for leggings, but it is too long to tuck into jeans, unless you like a misshapen wad of shirt hiding your cute batootie. So I got out the sewing machine and made it shorter. I know: A $168 button down AND you had to tailor it? Yeah, and it's even better now. I'm 5'4", 112lbs, 32C and the XS is perfect.
now that i've received this, i understand all the rave about it being soft. i guess i was expecting it to be crisper, but in fact, it's basically the texture of a flannel shirt. i think the plaid interior is interesting, but i personally like the gingham print more and if i don't roll the sleeves up, you can't really see the inside. i find the fit to be perfect. it didn't pull much around the chest but still have a slimming, flattering silhouette.
Loved it but....
The double faced fabric is amazing. This shirt is so cozy and comfy but not as roomy through the body as I'd hoped or need. I ordered size large and it pulled at the chest (am a size 34DDDD) and was a bit snug over my tummy and hips. Not tight, but not loose either. I'm 5'4" and it fell just above my knees in the back. At this price, I wasn't thrilled with the fit so sadly sent it back.
Like warm butter
I too balked at the price of this shirt, but after reading the first review and my own experience with the quality of CP Shades, I ordered it. No regrets! Putting this on is like pouring on warm butter but without the greasy mess. It is so soft and warm, and I am all about comfort. (If something is not comfortable, it does not matter how cute something is - I won't wear it - maybe that is called getting older haha!) Anyways, I love the color combo and the fit. I am 5'4, 120 lb and 34B. The small fits me like in the photos...I would be swimming in the medium. So go for it! Treat yourself to a really great shirt this fall/winter! Great over leggings and boots!
A Must have!
This shirt far exceeded my expectations, being fairly frugal, I never spend this much on one shirt but with all the cool details and colors in this I couldn't resist. This is incredibly soft but yet lightweight. It feels like flannel on the inside(it's not) so I know it will be warm but not heavy. Runs pretty true to size, I ordered the xsm I am 130lbs. w/DD bra and fits w/o pulling but I am going to try sm also because it may shrink some being all cotton. LOVE the color combo, will go with so much that I have with the black gingham and brownish green plaid lining. It has so much going for it and so very unique like nothing I own. All I can say is bury me in this shirt!
