Would Need Alterations to Fit Almost Anyone
This dress is adorable, but the sizing is all off. I ordered an XS (the smallest size available), despite the fact that I'm normally a size S in all clothes. The top of the dress looks ok when you stand very very straight, but the moment you bend/move, everything falls loose and basically exposes your whole chest. This could have easily been solved by making the straps adjustable, so I'm not sure why FP didn't do this. I briefly considered taking it to a tailor to have the straps adjusted, but that seems silly when the dress was $90 in the first place. Super disappointed - it's harder and harder to find clothes that aren't way too big at FP these days, and I'm not even that small!
So cute but shrinks in the wash!
I bought this and love the black and green. It IS sheer and a little loose fitting but thats part of the look. Definitely buy a matching body con slip to go under from FP they dont roll up and are made to go with FP slip/ sheer dresses. The straps are not adjustable but as I mentioned a full body con slip with cover your cleavage fine. My only issue is with the black dress, I washed it on gentle cycle in cold water and it shrunk!!! A lot I mean I keep pulling it and stretching it out but I don't know if I'll be able to wear it again. The length before was short of short on me (Im 5 ft 5 inches) so we'll see. I will probably dry clean the green one after I wear that one. I normally wash dark clothes in cold water to avoid the dyes running but I dont know whats the issue. So overall great dress but dry clean it ladies! Four stars instead of five for the mystery shrinkage.
Very pretty, and flattering for the most part, but as you can see on some of the models, the cups are meant for a bigger size, like a full B or C at least. I'm on the smaller side of a B-cup and there's some gapping on the sides. I probably won't wear without a cardigan so I'll keep it anyway because I love the style and fabric. Purchased the emerald and it's a nice rich color.
Perfect Summer Slip
LOVE this dress! It is a perfect escape from the heat. The slip is very thin and light, but the teal color allows lots of coverage and is never too sheer. I usually pair it with a bralette even black undies and you can't see through. One negative is the fit along the bust. It hangs low on my bust and gives off a saggy appearance. Seems like that's the style, but if you adjust the straps, the fitted shape can be very flattering. Overall very satisfied with my purchase and receive compliments all the time.
Cute but Very Sheer!
Even though I got this slip in red, it's very sheer. The material is very light. I wear this dress as a beach cover-up or for a vacation look, but wouldn't wear it out on the town or anything like that. They really could've added a layer or two of material under there or used thicker fabric...
I bought this dress for my birthday weekend and got so many compliments, however when hand washing my dress, the straps ripped off and the dress shrunk. I would definitely recommend the dress but would consider dry cleaning for washing to avoid a situation like mine!
Hi amarsh, We're sorry to hear about your dress! Someone will be in touch. - Free People
Somewhat sheer, but doable
I ordered this in the black and sized down, and as previous reviews said, it does run a tad large and is extremely sheer. In the black, it will be fine for going out at night but I would be wary about this dress if you were hoping to get away without wearing a bra or a slip underneath.
Too big, too big, too big. I was hoping for a back-up for my years-old, trusty, go-to black FP Viscose Voile Slip, but this is not it. Like another reviewer, I found it just way too big, even after pulling the adjustable bits as tight as they could go. The straps hung on me, and the bust gaped open. (I'm 5"5, 120 lbs, a 32D and an XS/0-2 in everything.) Also, the hem-line was weird; it was cute and short and flirty in the front, but it was long on the sides and in the back, making it look a little frumpy. If I had been able to size down, maybe that wouldn't have been such a problem, but as it was, I couldn't figure out a way to make it work. And yes, it is as sheer as everyone says. Sad.
Very pretty and versatile. Wearing it to work with black opaque tights, booties and a long black blazer. When I leave in a few hours Ill take off the blazer and it will be the perfect happy hour dress. P.S Consider a brami for the office. Bandau to go out.
Bought the black dress in store and immediately fell in love when I tried it on. It is so soft and light that it can be worn so many different ways and, can easily be layered. If I could I would honestly wear this dress everyday. Definitely ordering more. Also, the top half can be adjusted using the strings in the back which helps it fit perfectly to your body.
