Funky and great!
I got these because it's been brutally hot this summer and I need something to help keep from the chaffing in between my legs - these I wear as shorts and under dresses all of the time and they're great! The rouching on them also hides any flaws or curves or lack of pockets, etc!
Super cute, great fit and comfy!
I love these! I am not really a bike shorts kind of girl but I bought them for a trip to mexico to wear under my free people Voile and Lace Trapeze Slips to which I have in pretty much every color they come in. They look great underneath the slips. I don't think I can pull the bike shorts off as shorts as I think someone with long legs would be able to, but under other pieces they are great. I haven't washed them yet but will take the other reviews advice and hang dry, I may even dry clean them. They are well fitted and do not fall down as they are bike short so supposed to be tight but they are soon comfortable! I also will use them as lounge shorts. I got the purple and to my surprise the colors look just like the photo (sometimes free people colors don't look like the photo) They are on sale now so go get them!
Stretched after wearing a couple of times
Totally bummed about these shorts. I bought 4 pair b/c I loved the look so much and I use them for under FP dresses and tunics. They fit perfectly and look amazing. But after wearing about 3/4 times they completely stretched out. I brought them to the store and showed them, basically they told me that was how they were supposed to be. Hmmm. Bummed, I really like them.

nice little shorts
I really like those shorts. The color is so pretty ( I got the green ones with golden dots and the orange and golden stripes on the hem). They fit true to size and stretch just the right amount. The best is that they don't roll up while walking which all my other bike shorts do. For reference: I am 5'9'' and 125 lbs and bought the sitze S.
One of my favorite FP items!
I love these SO much. I bought these in the navy combo because I thought just the navy and white would go with a lot of things, but I love all of the patterns so I just ordered the teal too. I didn't expect them to be as comfortable as they are. I have been wearing them just to lounge around a lot. They fit great, which I was worried about because FP sometimes runs large and I'm an XS. The only minor problem I have it that I feel like because I have wider hips, they make me look kind of large if I wear them with a cropped top. They're awesome with longer tops and poking out of shorts or dresses, though! Still obsessed.
DO NOT BUY!
After a couple times in the wash, these completely lose their shape!!! These smocked bike shorts have been a constant for FP, with a steady rotation of patterns offered throughout the seasons. I remember buying a couple of pairs the very first time they came out over a year ago. These "first edition" shorts have retained their shape much better than the current ones. LOVED the construction of the "first edition"!! Now, they are a complete waste of money since you'll only get a couple wears out of them until they start bulging and stretching in all the wrong places. Very disappointed, FP!!
smocking comes undone
I absolutely loved these shorts...the first few times I wore them. My boyfriend loves them, they go with so many outfits, I was getting lots of compliments. I got them in black combo and a white combo. They fit perfectly. I'm 5'2" and 105. Around the fourth time I wore them I noticed the smocking on the back of the legs was coming undone creating these puffy pockets (on both pairs). I tried hand washing them to repair it, but upon further inspection I saw that the stitching around the elastic was coming undone. They are just poorly made. I was hoping to get more than four wears out of something I paid $40 for. Sad because I LOVED them :(
