Amazing wide legs pants!
I'm 5'11" and 150lbs, and usually wear a 29 or 30 in pants (these 40" hips, yo). The size 30 in the Bennie wash fit me perfectly right out of the box, and loosened only slightly over the course of a day of wear. I'm OBSESSED with these pants! The 35" inseam is perfect for me without hemming - especially once I have on shoes with a 1-2" heel. HUGE fan.
A walk down memory lane
I am old enough to have had wideleg jeans (these are NOT flares) when I was a teenager. these are as close as I've seen, both in style and fabric (soft denim) to the original styles of the 70's. Yes, they came balled up - but who cares!!! just wash them. I wear a 25 and they fit perfectly #I'm 5.4", 34, 26, 34). length is great also - I wear with 3" heels. if they're too long for you, just cut them. once you wash them a time or two, the fray at the bottom will be just like it was before you trimmed. they're supposed to 'sit' on your hip and be 'snug' but not tight - then they're pretty much loose the rest of the way down. these are not form fitting jeans. as this trend comes back I've seen some poorly designed widelegs - but these by far are the only ones I've seen that are true to the original 70's design. I should know - I lived it!! :-) hope this helps.
My new favorites!
I love a good flare and am so happy they've come back in style again. I've spend a-l-o-o-o-o-o-t of time reading reviews and trying on these flares. After trying on the 26, 27 and 28, I decided on the 27. The 26 was just a touch too small at the waist and the 28 was way too big. The 27 gives me the relaxed, slouchy look like the model. The pants are very light, soft and comfortable. They have an easy, relaxed style that suits my lifestyle as I work from home and travel a lot. I washed my pants on cold and dried them on low for about 20 minutes, letting them air dry the rest of the way. They did shrink a little bit--a touch in the waist and at the bottom. I ended up cutting about 2-3" inches off. They're still a bit long so I may end up cutting more after they settle a bit and the fringe develops. For reference, I'm 5'3", 115 lbs and pear-shaped. In pants I wear a 0 or 2 and in jeans a 2 or 4. Here's my recommendation: If you're curvy or pear shaped, buy up a size if you want a slouchy look. If you're slender, you should be able to get away with buying your typical size unless you want them super slouchy. The effort was worth it as I love these jeans!
These pants have got to be THE MOST flattering pants I own. I am so happy I decided to purchase them. I admit, I was a bit uncertain, thinking they would make me look frumpy but I think if you wear them the way they were MADE to be worn--LONG and floor-skimming--they will flatter most anyone. I wanted to avoid cutting off any of the length at all costs because I did not want to take away from the look of the pant leg. These are definitely "elephant ears." I am 5'6" and wore mine with 3" wedge clogs and they look great! I was pleasantly surprised. Needless to say, I highly recommend these and I am hoping to purchase the darker blue wash when they get my size in. :)
Great jeans, poor quality control
I received these jeans today in the Easy Rider color after waiting months for them to come back in stock in my size. If you're thinking of buying, order now before they sell out! They are cute, unique, and the denim is super soft. My only complaint was the poor condition they arrived in. They were wadded up in a bag and were SUPER wrinkly - plus they had no tag and there was a rock in the pocket! (No joke!) So obviously someone wore these and returned them. Considering this is easily the most expensive pair of pants I've ever bought, they should've been pristine. In terms of fit, I'm 5'7" and wear a size 8 in most brands. I have another pair of FP jeans in size 30, so that's what I ordered. These fit a little bit looser than my other pair - but in a comfortable way. They are a bit long on me though so shorter girls would need alterations.
These are my first pair of FP jeans and I must say, they were worth every penny. I can't wait to wear them. Everything is perfect, the size, the fit and the length. Hate to toot my own horn, but I know I'm going to look good in these.
I'm waiting ...
Got these the other day and I love them but too small.... So I'm waiting for the 27 to come back around ...BTW I am a 27 so I don't know why I ordered a 26.
I just received these in the "bennie" color in size 29. I'm 5'3" and even with platform shoes these are SO long. If I had them hemmed up to a good length I would lose a lot of the wide flare. Also, in this color they look like thin navy blue cotton pants, not jeans. I wanted to adore these but they are going back. If you're tall they would work but order them in a different color if you want them to look like jeans.
I love FP wide leg pants. I own two pairs. These came in a wrinkled ball - lately FP ships everything in tiny plastic bags, but regardless the fabric was very thin and and didn't lay right. The thickness of the waistband made them an odd fit. I normally wear a 0 or 2 in the wide legs and needed a 27 in these. Crazy. I am 5' 6 1/2 120lbs and they were not flattering. With a wider waistband they would have been better. I had my 20 year old daughter try on and she agreed. The drape was just cheap looking AND, the snap was broken. Back they went.
I love love these jeans, however the snap fell off after the 2nd wear. With such a hefty price to pay for some admittedly rad jeans, I thought they would last a lot longer :(. Such a bummer!
