Golden Quills Military Parka styled by the FP Me community
eye catching / stunning
I read few reviews which made me realize I wanted this cool parka ..but I wasn't quite sure about correct size. I'm 5'10" around 140 pounds so I tried S & M. In coats I usually pick M in FP....Sooooo....for all of you with long arms & legs ( yep..I'm one of those ) S will work perfectly. If you are heavier around your waste line / or if you would like to layer it a lot / or you want it super loose ...you may like M. For me personally, M is way too balky...and why do that when S fits perfectly! I ordered in greenish color & most likely I'm getting brownish too. Love you free people!
Really love it
It's a really pretty jacket! And i really love how unique it is. It's great for uk summer weather (about 16-18 degrees). And it works perfect with shorts or simple sundresses. I'm really happy I brought this and it's currently my favourite coat.
This is the single most amazing piece of clothing I have ever owned. I watched this jacket come and go on the FP website for over 12 months before deciding to invest in what I call my 'Lifer' jacket (i.e. the jacket that I will keep for life and hopefully hand down to any little pixie children I have). Every time I wear this jacket I get complimented and ultimately questioned where on earth I found such a fabulous piece. The craftsmanship is impeccable, with strong, sturdy zippers and the fabric has a weight in it that lets you know it's built to last. The applique on the arms is also incredibly well done and I'm yet to sustain any damage, even after months of daily wear and backpacking through the UK. As with most FP items, it does run a little large but the cut of the jacket doesn't make it look bulky on my 5'6'' frame; besides, I like to be able to layer during the winter and this jacket accommodates that. Overall, Golden Quills is the perfect statement jacket that can be dressed up or down and will last for a lifetime. Xx
Can't get enough
Free people has been my favorite store for years. With that being said, I have never felt so compelled to right a review until this jacket came into my life. With just going off of pictures I saw online, I died when I first laid my eyes on it. And when it came in the mail, I literally resurrected. The pictures of this jacket truly do not do it justice. I have never in my life been so impressed and in love with a product before. I love it so much that I plan on buying every color. Thank you free people!
Love this jacket!
I loved what this jacket looked like on the website but it looked even better when I got it. Great weight for transition from winter to spring. Can be worn with a mixture of looks and the quality is great.
My first and only jacket love
I have been a fan of free people for many years. I buy things here and there, usually on sale, since I can't usually afford full prices. One day, I'm reading a magazine on who wore it best and lo and behold I first laid eyes on this beauty. I instantly looked for the brand and saw that it is by my favorite brand! I bought a $300 jacket that same day. Full price, no sale and immediately. This was 2 years ago. I am back to say how much I love this dress, how many compliments I got on it and how it still looks great! I bought army green in medium and it's perfect. I'm usually a 12/14.
This jacket is such a gorgeous piece and if you're on the fence about it, don't be because you'll absolutely get your money's worth. This jacket never fails to get attention and compliments. It's nearly as heavy as a denim jacket and will provide about the same amount of warmth. There is a comfortable amount of room to layer a sweater over other thin, long sleeve layers within the coat because of its over-sized fit. Such a good investment, and an even better way to visibly maintain your style even in the dark winter months.
Favorite garment of my entire life!
I ran across this magical jacket online, while shopping for 21-yr-old daughter. It clicked with me instantly, as being something that was *made for me*! Bought it in Black in Nov. 2014. Just about died when it arrived - too spectacular for words. Breath-taking. The first time I wore it, I was a tad self-conscious, because it's kind of over-the-top, but in a good way. After that, I was completely used to it. I thought of it as my "happy coat," because that's truly what it is. After I'd worn it for a month, I ordered another one, this time in Merlot (a very regal crimson shade, a sort of brownish crimson). Hey, at my age, when you find something this spectacular, that you love more than life itself, you want a backup ;) Love the Merlot just as much as the Black. And I have to say this - as much as I adore this jacket, everyone else does too! I have never, in my life, received as many complements on an item of clothing. NEVER! Wherever I go, I am complemented by women of all ages. Most recently it was a girl of about 19 who asked if she could touch the sleeve, but just as often it's someone in her 20's, 30's, 40's or older. Anyway, I think that speaks volumes, when absolutely every time I wear it, I am stopped by women who are freaking out over its beauty. Now I see that all sizes & colors are sold out, so I put myself on the mailing list for a Chocolate one, as soon as they're back in stock. NO, I don't work for Free People. I don't work for anyone, and I waited over a year before penning this review because I never do reviews. This jacket doesn't *need* another glowing review, but it sure as heck deserves it, so that's my story. One Black. One Merlot. Waiting for Chocolate. Love forever. Gives me confidence & makes me feel happy :)
new favorite jacket
The green wasn't available, so I ended up getting the merlot size S. It's more of a brown-ish red, check the uploaded picture. The sleeves are fabulous, but not too over the top for everyday wear. The beads are pretty secure on mine, but I'll have to be careful not to let the design brush too roughly against anything. The sleeves ARE a bit long, but being 5'2", I expected that. What I love the most about the jacket is that it cinches around the waist, which is so important with my measurements (39 28 37). It doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a sack, even when it's unzipped! It did bother me a little that the studs on each sleeve aren't symmetrical, but it's no big deal.
