LOVE THESE BOOTS!
First let me say these do run SUPER TIGHT and SMALL. BUT, its in the arch part of the shoe. Toe area is roomy. I bought the Cordovan and the Tan, one size in 37 and the other in 38. I wear a 7-7.5 regularly. Turns out the 37 in Cordovan was so tight, I felt like Cinderellas ugly stepsisters trying to shove my foot in the boot. I could not even get my foot in at all. The 38 on the other hand, were extremely tight. I really struggled to get my foot in. Then I struggled with the zipper. Finally, it was on. And slightly uncomfortable to walk in. But I was not giving them back. So I wore them everyday for 2 weeks straight. Countless outings, 3 parties and work everyday, I finally broke them in. Best Boot EVER! They are so comfortable now. And my feet slide in them like butter. I want the Black ones now lol
So Cute and Wonderful But TIGHT!
I purchased these in the faded rust color and I am not disappointed! I love the heel and the leather strips along the arch of the foot; it really makes these boots unique. I will say I have a fairly narrow foot and I ordered my usual size (38) in these and they were VERY tight along the top f my foot. The actual size fits my foot length just fine and the 39 was too large for me in that area. Over time and with use, the leather has stretched a bit and they are wearable, but still a little snug. Other than that, this was a great buy and I see myself wearing these all year round.
Problem design for higher arches
This is a gorgeous shoe, but the back zip entry + higher heel, and in a smaller size (37) make it practically impossible to get into if you have an even somewhat higher arch. Getting in is a total struggle -- because of the high pitch of the boot, your arch will press the top of your foot against the top/strappy parts, and then because the zipper doesn't go all the way down, you will have to shimmy your heel in, while your arch is in a totally awkward position. Once in the shoe, the fit in the width/length was fine, even roomy, although it was still snug at the top over the arch part of the foot. For reference I have a slightly narrow foot, a true 6.5, and struggles getting into shoes are totally outside my experience. For longer and less arch-y feet (where the shoe is longer and the pitch not as drastic), I think this shoe must be awesome. I'm jealous.
Love these but....
So I love these shoes. They fit great and I can walk around the city all day in them and my feet never hurt. The only issue I had with these shoes is that after wearing them only 4 times one of the zipper pulls broke off. I tried to go to the Free People store to see what they could do about it and they said nothing can be done. I now have to use a piece of wire to zip and unzip them but what ever I still love them!
I've have had these for about 1 year now. They go with everything; jeans, dresses, shorts. Comfortable to walk in and can be worn all day, no problem. I usually wear a 7 or 7.5 but got a size 8 in these. They fit really well, and size 8 feels like a 7.5.
Took some time, but now I love them
I bought these in the tan color. It took a little time for everything to soften up but now I love them. The heel is a good shape bc it gives a nice sturdy platform to stand on. They are a good height and look really cute with almost everything. I think they are worth the purchase.
This boot is a show stopper. I saw them on few ladies and had to have them. Based on reviews I bough 39 (I wear 8.5) and they fit perfectly. I still have a room to wiggle my toes, as they are a bit round and longer in that area. I bought black and faded rust, they are so awesome that I will keep both pairs. I usually go with black shoes (they elongate legs especially with black skinny jeans) but rich brown stands out, and the straps are more visible, giving texture and uniqueness. They are comfortable and I'm so happy they are not super high. I also like that black pair have a lighter sole and heel, cool detail. I'm also happy that they are not typical western boots, it is not my style. And these boots go great with my jackets especially olive army ones. They look great while shopping, running with shoes, on the date, in the bar, whenever! Good buy.
Gorgeous, but runs too small
I am a true size 8.5 and ordered the 39 in cordovan. The color is absolutely gorgeous - a perfect neutral mix of of chocolate, plum, and burgundy - but they were way too small. In fact, they were so tight and uncomfortable at the top/sides of the boot, that I sent the 39's back and ordered a 41. The 41's were way too big. Since these boots are so popular, I haven't been able to find a 40, but I'm thinking they may not fit correctly based on the super tightness of the top/sides on the 39. So now I have ordered the Carrera boot to see if I have better luck. I believe these boots were made for more of a narrow foot.
Tight across the top!
I ordered these in a size 37-- I am normally a size 6.5 across the board but FP shoes do not come in half sizes so I always order a 37. I have quite the collection of shoes from here and usually they fit perfectly-- if not slightly roomy in the toe (which I attribute to myself being more of a size 6.5). This is the first pair of shoes I've ordered from Free People that fit strangely. It took me about 20 minutes just to get my feet in because the top of the boot is SO tight on the top of my foot that I can't even get my feet in all the way. After a few minutes of forcefully cramming my feet into these boots, I can get them on but there is still about 3/4 of an inch of room in the toes, and I cannot for the life of me zip them up. I am going to wear them around the house for a couple of hours in hopes that they stretch out enough that I can get my feet in another 3 millimetres so that I can do them up. So they are simultaneously too big and too small. I imagine even when I get my feet in all the way I will still have about half an inch of room for my toes. They are leather so I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem to stretch them. I wouldn't recommend if you have wide feet-- I have average sized feet and can barely get them on. If you have narrow feet, stick to your normal size. If you have average width, maybe try sizing up or try taking them to get stretched in the width! Comfort level is pretty good so far considering I haven't done them up yet. I ordered them in gold and they are a very pretty distressed gold/beige. The metallic is subtle and perfect. I imagine these will go with pretty much anything-- if I could only get them on!
Normally a 6.5/7 so I just decided to go for the 7 in tan to be safe. When I received them, I fell in love!!!! But they were too small! I could zip them up, but they were so snug that I knew I would regret spending so much money and not being able to wear them due to discomfort. I was going to exchange them for an 8, but they were out of stock in tan. Overall, super cute and looked exactly like the photo. Could tell that they would be comfortable if they were the right size. They would go well with any color jeans, patterned flowy pants, shorts, and dresses. Definitely disappointed I won't be keeping these babies, but will keep my eye out if an 8 comes back in stock!
