The reviewers are right
Darn. I wanted to believe that one positive review I saw. I sent this dress back immediately. There is simply no hope that a small (5'4") person can pull this off and not look like a moving tent. Fabric is good. A little on the heavy side for the kind of flow this needs. I have broad shoulders - good for draping, but the bust is tight. There is just SO much fabric with no where to go. Tall gals, get them while you can.
what a let down so sad.....
Our friend is pregnant and wanting to wear wonderful-beautiful dress's during the waiting time. She saw this and bought both colors. Being all excited to get them, ha poor thing when she opened the parcel_ both are cheap and ridiculous looking. The blue is a tad better then the peach. The worst was when she tried them on,, she's 5;10 thin 5 months along. they are wrongly made, not much as photo,,.as you can see either the models are flying them out or posed with arm holding sides in. Like other commenters say,, $300.price must be a typo or joke,, sorry FP ,we love your stuff, wear it everyday but this one is a %) up.
Cheap looking and unflattering
I normally love long, oversized stuff, and prefer to hide my hips, but this looks like a huge rag and doesn't fall or drape in any way at all. Definitely not for small curvy women. I'm 5'0 118lbs 32C/D big hips usually wear an S in FP dresses... this was huge in the XS and NOT in a good way. Too much material. The pleats in the front are unflattering. The print looks so pretty in the photos, it's blah in person. Maybe if I were much taller and broader the fit wouldn't be so bad. But I still wouldn't have kept it, because the material is thin and extremely cheap looking. I'm from India, this looks like something from a street stall. The price is ridiculous.
Not worth the price...
I'm so disappointed in this dress! First of all the colors look really different in person. It's very muted and not as vibrant as shown in the pictures. The green isn't as emerald-ish as in the picture and the burnt orange color of the overall dress is a really gaudy color. The embroidery is ok in person, there really is nothing special about it (it clearly looks as if sewn by machine). It doesn't look like a $300 dress. Size-wise, I usually run a size S in FP clothes (5"2', 27/28, 34A) and the XS looks like a maternity dress on me. Like most gauzy FP dresses, it's really delicate so handwash is optimal. One thing I like about the dress is that it's lightweight and flowy. Overall this dress didn't work for me :(
I read the other reviews and was concerned, but the minute I put on the dress I was stunned at how good it looked. I am 5'4' with an athletic build--broad shoulders, not much hip. My shoulders carry the weight and shape of the dress and it flows out beautifully. I am usually M in Free People but I paid attention to the bust measurement for S and followed that. The small is PERFECT! Everything about this dress is high quality and magical, and I will be wearing it for a long, long time. It is worth EVERY penny!
Not as expected
I waited for ages for the dress to arrive. Was so excited when it finally got here. I was a little surprised at the colour as I expected it to be brighter and more vibrant. However the colour is still beautiful and pattern and material are both lovely. The sleeves are interestly designed too, and look wonderful. I agree with both comments above. There is something not quite right about the way the dress flows. The front is not so bad and I quite like the gathering but the back is totally shapeless, giving that tent shape. I do however love the material so much, that I am going to try the dress with a suede long waistcoat and see if I can bring the shape in with that.
Beautiful but unflattering
This is a beautiful dress-however, it is not worth nearly $300. Pros: Lovely color palette, decent construction, special details (embroidery, mixed prints, tassels). Cons: The fit is really unflattering--it's a huge tent dress that is probably best on very tall, willowy people (I'm short and athletic and it makes me look fat). The drawstring waist is non-functional--it just gathers a big chunk of material to the front of the dress--not a nice look. It covers a lot of skin. A lower neckline would make it so much more flattering. I don't want to, but I am going to send this back. I was so excited about it but it was a big let-down.
beautiful pattern, huge and requires work
The pattern of this dress looks just like it does on the model. The material is more of a silk-like rayon, rather than the sturdy cotton look online so it is a little on the delicate side. I wear an XS and it was HUGE on me and tying the side drawstrings made it look more frumpy. However, when I added a thin belt above my waist, it gave it some great definition. The dress runs VERY big and may require a belt or some tailoring to get the fit and look that you want with it. I had very high expectations at this price point and was a little disappointed.
