I purchased these boots with so much excitement! I could not wait to wear them!! My sister tried them on and untied them. She then tied them around her leg and pulled the suede and that was the end of that. $500 bucks wasted. So disappointed, there are no words. Why??
Hi annsan3000, We're sorry to hear about your boots. Someone will be in touch. - Free People
I purchased these boots in October and love them. The only problem 2 straps have broken after 3 uses. The top thin strap broke out of the small top loop and since the suede it too short it pulls on the material . Bottom thick strap keeps coming undone . I find that the actual boot is a little wide perfect to use with socks.

Not oversized IMO (also, DONT UNTIE THEM)
I have very narrow feet, and wear a size 6 across the board, but I've been known to fit a size 5 1/2 in certain shoes that run large. So from reading the reviews that say size down, and seeing that 36 was the smallest size available, I was a little wary at first. However, they looked so fabulous that when a 36 came back in to stock I had to at least TRY it. Once again, my feet are narrow, so usually if a shoe runs large, I HAVE to size down otherwise it won't fit even kind of. But I got these boots in the mail and I have worn them every day since, without having to wear thick socks. They don't seem to run large to me. And they are adorable and amazing and i love them, haha! SIDE NOTE: The string that wraps around the boot is not meant to untie, and it's like glued together. So don't untie these because I did and now I can't get them to go back to a pretty bow on the side. Which is frustrating.
Wish they had worked
I LOVE these boots. The leather is soft and the look is exactly what I am looking for which is why I am soooo sad to have to return them. They run a half-size too large and without half sizes being available I know going down a full size just won't work. Whenever I take a step my heels lift out, on both sides. Not a huge problem if you're not walking far but I tend to get my money's worth with boots and I know the constant rubbing on my heel would become an issue. I am heartbroken :(
I absolutely love these boots! The leather is the best quality I've ever had in a shoe, and I really like the internal structure that keeps the boot rigid around the ankle. They can be worn pulled up or pushed down for a more 'slouchy' look, and with both jeans and skirts. For four inch heels these are very comfortable! I did initially find that the boots were slightly tight around the calves (I tuck my jeans into my socks to prevent them slipping up when I pull on the boots), but the leather is so soft it seems to have expanded to fit me perfectly. The straps around the bottom of the boot have loosened over time and slipped down to cover the heel; I was concerned they would loosen more and I would end up stepping on them. However, these straps can be tightened and retied - I just cut off the excess. Free People - what would you recommend I use to treat these boots for winter to keep them in great condition? The leather is so soft, I want to avoid damage and salt marks!
Really pretty but not comfortable
These boots are really pretty, but not ideal for walking a lot, in my opinion. I'm 5'10" with size 9.5 narrow feet. I put them on and felt keenly aware of the lack of arch support, and the fact that they are 4" heels. I could tell that after walking a few blocks I would really feel like I had 4" heels on. Living in NYC I walk all over, and my boots need to be both stylish and comfortable. I'm unfortunately sending these back.
Theses boots are awesome! I ordered them in black and arrived true to color of the photos. I originally ordered them in 38 due to the note about the sizing. The right fit perfect and the left was too tight. I now have a 39. The right is a little bit large but not dramatically so and the left fits good but not perfect. I think they are maybe only half size small. The leather outside is very soft and gorgeous. There is an additional leather structure internally that I am sure will help the boot maintain the shape at the ankle(problem I have had with other boots). There also is a finger tab inside the boot at the calf which has an attachment that runs down to that inner structure. Using this will help you get the boots on smoothly. I have larger calf(at least compared to the models in the product photos) and I was able to loosen the top portion marginally. You cannot do so at the "tied" part where the bow is, it is sewn together but there are small knots which go into the boot and secure the leather wrapping. This is where I made my adjustment; by untying and retying that knot, making more room. I tried these on with some Erica M. stockings (purchased at freepeople.com under socks and legwear) and it was a bit awkward to get my foot into the boots but I think that will change after I wear them a little. Happy Boot Time!!
Gorgeous Leather and Quality
I was skeptical about ordering a pair of Free People private label boots at such a high price. I tried to scam my boyfriend into buying them for my birthday and he pushed back and said, "sure, if they were a respectable footwear brand." We both work in footwear product design and development, thus, we are really picky about what we buy. I decided to ignore him and buy the boots myself because I could not get the rich brown version out of my head. Taking the advice listed in the product description to order a size down, I purchased a Euro 38. For reference, I am Brannocked as a true US 8.5B. The fit was perfect, except for just maybe fitting a little too snugly over my instep that is of normal height. However, I do not believe this will be a point of irritation. Honestly, the fit is a million times better than my Frye boots, which I can only remove from my legs with the help of another person. As soon as I opened the shipping box I could smell the leather, which is a great sign. The boots are to die for. The leather is supple and oiled. The brown shade is amazing and as pictured. These boots are worth the hefty price tag and the quality is so good that I expect to wear them for years to come.
Amazingly soft and sexy!
The boots are exactly as advertised and are as every bit of its price tag. I ordered a size 39 and it was true to size. I am usually a 9 or 9.5 in 4 inch heels, which I was nervous about but the 39's fit just right. Keep in mind of which foot is larger than the other because I notice how my right foot's toes hits the boot a little but the softness of the calf skin seems to be expanding to fit my feet. It was a challenge pulling them over my calves and heels due to the initial tough-ness of the soft leather. In a weird way, the skin of the boots expands to your legs and feet after you get them in. Having larger calves made it a little more challenging but I believe you can loosen the artsy strings wrapped around this sexy boot, which I will do. Overall, they make my legs look long and my feet look small. A++++! P.S the more slouchy you make them, the better they look, I promise.
