Arms Too Tight
I loved the picture of this dress, but as other reviews say the arms were way too small. I have somewhat muscular arms, but I've never had trouble fitting into any other FP clothes in my normal size there. Definitely don't think this dress is worth it. The lace is cute, but I probably wouldn't recommend the dress.
Beautiful Dress, Terrible "Slip"
I ordered this in ivory and absolutely loved it when it arrived. It's beautiful and very flattering on! I usually order most Free People stuff in XS but for this one the S fit just right. As others have mentioned, the sleeves are a little tight. My biggest disappointment and frustration with this dress though is with the "slip" I received to wear underneath. The actual dress is COMPLETELY see-through, just imagine a lace dress with nothing underneath... So the slip is a MUST. The slip that Free People sent was an absolute joke. I'm very thin but the "slip" barely covered my butt. It was completely see-through, too short, and the back was cut low so my entire bra strap was exposed. This felt like a very, very, VERY cheap spaghetti strap top at best. There's absolutely NO way I could make this slip work at all with this dress, which was incredibly disappointing considering I paid $168 for it. When you pay that much money for a dress, you would expect it to come with a quality slip. But instead I had to run around for over a week searching for a quality slip to replace it. I ended up having to spend $20 on a dress from Urban Outfitters so I could use the slip that was attached with it for this dress. This slip was perfect, but I had to buy it from another store and spent an additional $20- making this dress $188. If I didn't love this dress so much, I would have NEVER kept it. But I was using this dress for family photos and quite frankly didn't have the time to find something different. I am a frequent shopper at Free People, but this experience has completely disappointed me. I can't believe that this dress costs $168 but the slip they send doesn't work at all. I feel like I paid $168 for half of a dress. Huge disappointment that will significantly affect my decision to shop at Free People in the future.
Stunning, but you need your own slip
I got this in black for a wedding. Tons of compliments. Everytime I wear it, I get compliments, and it looks hot. BUT, it's true the sleeves are narrow and have no give/elastic. That was a mistake on FP's part, so if your arms are at all a bit thick, you will feel it (I just deal). Also, you need your own slip. I have a black slip that worked perfectly. The one provided by FP is a joke, it barely covers your butt, I tossed it. I'm 5'5", 122 lbs, got size small. Great for fancy occasions. Also great for dancing because of the babydoll shape. I'd have given this 5+ stars if the arms had elastic and they had a longer/bigger slip. However, it Does Look 5 stars!
much baggier than expected
I am 5'2" , 112 lbs, small chest, curvier in legs and butt. Based on reviews saying the sleeves are two tight, I ordered the Small instead of XS. It was super baggy and longer than I thought it would be. I would have to bunch and cinch the material around the waist to the back to get the fitted look like the model shows. Wondering if this dress had its specs redone since earlier reviews? Even though the dress goes below my knees (undesirable length for me usually) the short, fitted lining underneath is a good way for it to not appear "long" since the part over the knees is sheer. Beautiful dress, can't wait to get the XS.
Terrible construction and fit
I bought this dress to wear as a bridesmaid for a last minute wedding, as did a girlfriend of mine. We both bought a size S, however they were not made anywhere near the same size. I have extremely tiny arms, on my dress, the sleeves were so snug, if I bent my elbows, the sleeves ripped. While on my girlfriends dress, the sleeves were enormous. The rest of the dress was like a tent and looked nothing like the picture. The slip underneath was too large in some areas, while too small in others. My girlfriends slip was cut completely crooked. As the wedding was such short notice, we both had no choice but to wear it. but over all it was the most uncomfortable and unflattering dress I've ever ordered from the peeps.
Wanted to love this!
I bought this dress to wear as a bridesmaid and wanted it to work so bad! I was hesitant because I read the other reviews about it being ill fitting- but was optimistic. Unfortunately, the reviews were right! The lace feels starchy and cheap (there was even a small tear in the lace in one of the sleeves), the arms are SO snug and fit very oddly around the chest/arm pit area and the slip I received was very poorly made! completely lopsided. I even had a few of my friends who are more slender then I to try it on and it did not fit them right either. Sadly, going back!
This dress can easily be dressed up or dressed down! A great piece to have. Also, super unique! Got countless compliments. The sleeves are a little tight, but nothing too bad. Totally recommend this!
I really wanted to love this dress but it just wasn't flattering. I have an athletic build and this dress just made me look pregnant. Very sad because I wanted to love it. I will be returning this dress.
I didn't have any problems with this dress like other comments have said. The sleeves were fine, and my arms arnt very thin. Im 5'10 and the slip fits a little short but not so much that it isn't a problem. I got the large and it fit really well. I got the black and it looked very pretty and elegant on me. I did notice a bit of the easy rip, so if you're planning to go out and dance around I would not wear this, but it won't rip too easily if going to dinner or something. I would definitely recommend trying this dress.
Cheap for the price
If this dress was half off, I still wouldn't buy it. The color is off; in person, it looks like a an obnoxious mint green on high saturation, not like this muted almost seafoam/mint. Also, the fit...the arms are so tight, and my arms are pretty slim. It's supposed to be 3/4 length but since the hem of the sleeves taper too tightly, it looks like it's a full sleeve. Also, the material. It looks so dainty in the picture, but the embroidery in person looks so awkward and bulky, not to mention the poor excuse of a slip they provided. The slip is made out of the cheapest material on earth, probably 5 cents per yard. There's no movement, just clings to every bump of your body, making the effect of the dress not as flowy and romantic. Such a fail of a dress for the price they're asking. The quality and fit are so low.
