Beautiful dress, but heavy
This is a beautiful dress, very flowy and has that greek goddess feel, but it comes at a price. This dress has A LOT of material on the the bottom and it's heavy. I swear the straps feel like they're going to give because they're so skinny and have no clue how it holds the dress. I haven't weighed it, but it has to be a legit 3-4 lbs of material on this thing. Also, if you're not tall enough, it will drag so be mindful of that.
LOVE THIS DERSS...GALD REVIEWS WERE WRONG
I had been looking at this dress for a while and I read every single one of the previous reviews. After all the negative, I decided to try it because I could always return it and I am so glad I did! First of all, it is NOT heavy like most have mentioned. It is a light to mid weight soft cotton so neither layer is see through. Someone said the second was needed for this. Not true. The second layer is only about 4-5 inches long across the front and back, at the wait, and gently flows out. Another review that was off was about how it would not cover the breast. I sized up because of this and it was so unnecessary! I am a 36 DD, 27.6 waist, 35.8 hips. My chest is covered, COMPLETELY, and then some by sizing up to L. So much that it gaps on the sides of the breasts. Double sided fabric tape helps. I got the Rose and it's a very soft and beautiful shade true to pic. If you have an average size w/ FP, which I don't, go with that. Beautiful and well made. Not see through, for once .
Beautiful beautiful dress. Very flattering but the first night I wore it both straps broke one right after the other. I'm guessing they were sewn on too close to the seam. Huge wardrobe malfunction since it happened while I was at dinner. Very disappointed, I will be trying to return this week.
Hey Cjones22, We're so sorry to hear about this! Someone from our team will be reaching out to you. - Free People
I just got this and haven't decided whether or not I want to keep it. First off, the material is very very thin - could see through the bottom half so definitely need to wear with nude undies (not a big issue). I agree with other reviews that the bottom half is heavy. However, it would be completely see-through if there wear not two layers. I actually like the handkerchief, staggered hem a lot. I also like the top - material is thick enough so i can get away with either nothing or just nipples/pasties. What I HATE about this dress is the bells at the end of the shoulder ties. Why anyone thought this was a good idea is beyond me. But because I like the rest of the dress, I might just remove them. NO more bells though! ;-) I also wish the dress was more white and less cream-colored.
Very disappointed in the design!
I bought this for an event in a week and a half. It arrived today and I couldn't be more unhappy. The top of this dress does NOT allow for breasts larger than a B cup. At all. So if you actually have any boob, this dress has no hope. I am a 34 D. I don't need support. But I need the cups to cover the sides of my boobs like it shows in the photos. The cups are not shaped to hold boobs. They are flat triangles and do nothing more than lay flat over my chest. Tightening the ties on the sides of the dress did nothing to help. - Had the cups had more ACTUAL shape, this dress would be stunning. From the waist down it was pretty. Lots of material. Not see through. But I don't feel it was worth the $108 I paid considering the top was poorly designed. If my seamstress can't save this tomorrow, I will be returning it. Fingers crossed as I now dont have a dress.
Bit of hassle but worth it
I fell in love with this dress when I first saw it on the website - I especially loved the bell ties and side bow details. I’m petite but busty, and never normally have trouble with size XS clothes but with this dress I did have a problem. I ordered it in XS Cream but when it arrived it was more of a hessian colour, which was too close to my skin tone. This, combined with the masses of material in the skirt (ultimately frumpy) and tiny top section of the dress (escaping boobs) really did make me look like a sack of potatoes. Determined to make it work, I ordered the dress in size S Ivory, which was more of a true cream. It was a lot more modest on the bust and I could afford to tie the sides looser to make the bottom half more flowy without losing coverage up top. It’s a heavy dress but a really beautiful piece - I’ve received compliments wherever I wear it. TL,DR: If you don’t want to look like a sausage in Fifth Element cosplay, be prepared for some to-ing and fro-ing with sizes.
I saw this dress and thought it was absolutely stunning so I ordered it however I was so disappointed with my purchase that I tried it once and returned it the same day. There is so much cloth on the bottom of the dress that you can fashion an entire other piece of clothing from it. I won't even buy it again if it was on sale with a extra 30% off.
Way too big!!
I was SO excited to get this dress to wear on my birthday! When I received it in the mail the color looked off to me.... in the picture it looks like a cream color but when I got it, it was not what it looked like in the pictures. If you're thinking about ordering this dress I would go a size down. I am normally a small but the small was just way too big on me I felt like I was swimming in it. Sadly I'll definitely have to return this dress, so disappointed because I was so excited to wear this :(
