Vegan Leather Hooded Jacket styled by the FP Me community
Yet again, an unhappy customer.
I bought this jacket because it was exactly what I was looking for in a leather moto jacket....it was perfect! However, the first time I wore it the lining of the jacket ripped all along the armpit (which I kind of expected because of previous reviews but hoped it wouldn't). So basically if you plan on buying this jacket, expect the lining to rip within the first few times of wearing it. Now I was annoyed at this but I thought, okay no one can tell and the jacket is still totally functional. BUT, I have just recently washed it ON DELICATE AS INSTRUCTED, and the dye on the leather is completely coming off. There are white patches of essentially tie-dye and the jacket is now ruined. I hope there is a way that I can fix this dye job but I probably will have to throw this jacket away after only a month of having it. FP really needs to get it together on quality products especially since they charge so much and it seems every item of clothing they sell falls apart.
I love this jacket but I received it as a christmas present this christmas and it has almost completely fallen apart. The wire is sticking out of it and the inside is falling apart. Really hoping that Free People will contact me for an exchange free of charge. Definitely got a defective one. I love this jacket so much and shop here a lot...
Material tearing after only 3 wears
I thought I was the only one this happened to, but after reading some other reviews I wonder if I just got a defective jacket. I have only worn this item three times and the leather on the sleeves and upper back is bubbling and tearing. I was so disappointed because this is my first leather jacket and was so excited about the purchase. Would not recommend.
Doesn't hold up well...
I bought this jacket last spring and have maybe worn it 15 times tops. For having not worn it much the jacket looks like I've been wearing it non stop for years. The color has chipped off of the jacket and shows white spots that look like paint, and the wire began to stick through the metal collar. Additionally HUGE holes have formed inside of the silk part of the jacket. I have not been rough with this jacket and have barely worn it, it's really insane that it looks THIS bad with such little use. For a $168 dollar faux leather jacket, I really expected more. It's a shame, because it really is a cute jacket, just not worth the price.
Terrible quality despite attractive design
I purchased this jacket in "Bone" last fall, and immediately the metal shapers began to poke out from and tear the seams. Panicking, I spent painstaking hours taking out all the metal posts so I could avoid any more damage. After removing it from storage for this season, I noted many, many small holes and tears. I'm really disappointed in this jacket... it has been stressful to try to figure out a way to wear it without further damaging it, and after this past weekend (casual use) it is too damaged to wear without feeling embarrassed by its appearance. I can't believe this is Free People's typical quality, but it's hard to understand why they continue to sell it without addressing folks' concerns. To the trash it goes.
Love the look of this jacket but not the quality
It really is amazing on, and so flattering for petites. I read all of the reviews in detail on here as well as on other retailer sites. On so many occasions I talked myself out of making the purchase based on the myriad of poor reviews. Finally I received it in black as part of a holiday gift. I am usually a solid 0 but needed a 2 in this jacket as it runs tight in the shoulders and under the arms. I wonder if this is why people are complaining about the lining ripping? If they are wearing a size too small and placing stress on the jacket in those areas when bending, reaching, etc then rips can occur. My jacket arrived fresh out of the packaging with all hang tags attached so I assume brand new. There was a tear on the sleeve near the zipper and some white distress marks along the bottom and piping. I contacted the retailer where purchased and they sent another which also has white distress marks so I assume those are intentional by Free People. I have been wearing the jacket daily for two weeks but leave it open and so far the piping is holding up. However, I noticed some very small areas of black rub-off on the body and sleeves exposing the white underneath. I was so heartbroken that I actually filled them in with waterproof black eyeliner (No one should have to do that to a $168 jacket!). Call me crazy but I absolutely love the aesthetics of this jacket so much that I will deal with it being a temporary item in my closet for however long it lasts. What I find appalling is that FP reads all of the negative reviews yet has done absolutely nothing to improve quality while keeping the price point the same! I think FP needs to discontinue this iteration of the jacket and design a new and improved version asap!
Cute but Poorly made
I bought this about a year ago, but no less than one wear the metal wires inside the lining of the zipper started to poke out. I expect higher quality from Free People and I was honestly disappointed. But from some of the other reviews on here, Free People's solution is to exchange the jacket for another of THE SAME QUALITY. Whatever. Now, a year later, I have managed to remove most of the wire from the zipper lining. I still wear it because it's cute, despite the little holes created from the wire poking out. I pretend the holes add to the the wear-and-tear aesthetic. Still, for the price, I expected something of higher quality.
Awesome but falling apart
I love this jacket, it fits a little snug, and looks amazing. However within a few wears it has started falling apart. The fabric around the wires has worn and they have started poking out. This jacket was quite a splurge for me and I'm disappointed it won't be around for longer.
I ordered a size 2 because the size 4 was backordered. I figured I'd give it a try! The size 2 was a little snug on the shoulders at first but it ended up stretching out a little. I'm extremely happy with it! I wear it with everything. I'm normally a size small in tops but I like everything a little more loose. You'll love it!
Very cute but disappointed!
Upon purchasing and wearing, I was excited and loved this jacket. I bought this one as well as the one without the hood. Unfortunately, the material started falling apart in this hooded one after three uses. This has been sitting in my closet for months and I recently took it out to wear and noticed the material (leather) is flaking off exposing the thin layer beneath it. As for the one without the hood, i've worn it for a few months before I noticed the leather was fading which i thought was normal being that it is faux leather. I last wore it during the Spring and its been hung up in my closet since now that the Fall season is here, I took it out and noticed extreme flaking on the sleeves. I was furious cause I love this jacket so much and I figured i can overlook it cause I wanted to wear it that day. Huge mistake as the unexpected happened. I was traveling and at the airport I was bending and moving around a lot and noticed dust coming from my clothes. I sort of ignored it not realizing my jacket was ripped up all over til I had to remove it from my body at the security checkpoint. How embarrassing! The leather was flaking off all over & it looks busted up. I'm wondering if it dry rotted by sitting in the closet. Frankly, I am beyond disappointed in this purchase as I spent a lot of money with two purchased and I have lost two jackets over the same issue. I wonder if FP can do something about this?
